Iphone is stuck in recovery mode - Itunes gives me Unknown Error 9
Hello, yesterday when I plug in my iphone to the pc for some x reason itunes could not find my iphone and it told me to make a restore ... I did it but when it started the recovery mode it told me that it could not be restore because there was a "Unknown Error 9"..
I did the following: Uninstall Itunes and Re-install Itunes (latest version ofc)
Turn on off the phone
hold the start and home button while recovery
even downloded some solutions people in the forum commented
I change my usb cord
I change the usb port
but nothing has work anyone know what I can do?

NOO it's not broken it is a software error. What you need to do is put your phone into what is called DFU mode or Device Firmware Upgrade Mode. What you have to do is connect your phone to itunes but do not start the sync process. Ignore any popups from itunes initially. When you are connected to itunes take your phone and hold down the home button and power button at the same time. Hold them down for about 30 seconds or so and you should see your device screen rollover to the black screen and disconnect from itunes once this happens it will reboot and automatically connect to iTunes, after this happens start the restore process through itunes and it should continue past the error message.
* Also before you do this try ejecting your sim card if you have the at&t model if you are on Verizon ignore this. There is a small oval port on the right side of the phone with a small pinhole. Use a paperclip and insert it into the hole, the door will pop open. Take the door out, remove the sim card and wait 5 minutes then return the sim card back into the phone and begin the above process.
If none of this works you may just want to bring it the genius bar and have them look at it. Good Luck and I hope this helps!

When loading iTunes this morning an update that I had been putting off popped up and I figured since I was going to be in the house for a while I'd finally do it. An error took place that I foolishly ignored and made no note of.
My iPhone is now stuck in Recovery mode (I assume so anyway, after having googles my problem for hours), iTunes tells me I need to restore the phone and so I click to allow it to. It then gets to the "Preparing iPhone for restore" and just sits there, doing nothing.
I am unable to use my phone and I feel very much out of my depth as I have NO idea what to do. Any help (noob friendly) would be greatly appreciated.I appear to have managed to fix the issue through googling the error code (rather than ignoring it this time), and figured I'd add the solution here for anybody in the future.
I simply moved my cable connecting my pc and iPhone to a USB port in the back of my computer rather than using the ones in the front and the process kicked off almost instantly without any further issues. -
Hi all..hoping someone can help me out with this.
So I recently lost my iPhone 5, therefore I am going to use a friend's old iPhone 4 in the meantime. The iPhone 4 has been jailbroken, but I wanted to do a reset to clear the jailbreak as well as just clear all other data, so that I can just restore my own iCloud backup & use with my own data.
However, the problem I am now faced with is that the phone is in recovery mode, and when I plug in the phone to my computer...I am given the options to click Restore. But after all the time it takes to update the software and supposedly doing its thing with "restoring" the phone....turns out no luck, i get an error message saying the phone cannot be restored. And now I pretty much can't do anything because I do not know how to do a reset of any sort to get out of this recovery mode.
PLEASE HELP. first time losing phone, first time trying to figure out how to reset and get out of recovery mode. I just want to be able to reset and then restore with previous backup..
I really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

After my daughter dropped my phone on the floor (surprisingly the screen didn't crack), the screen went black and I could not turn the phone back on. This was not the first time that this happened to me and I fixed it by plugging it in to my car charger. I tried that this time and it did come back on but the place where my signal strength bars should be said 'searching'. After a short while, a message came up saying that my phone needed to be restored and to connect it to iTunes.
My phone would not come on unless it was plugged into a charger, other than that the screen was black (and still does that). The apple screen will show and then the usb cord connecting to iTunes symbol comes up and it will go passed that screen.
I connected to iTunes, and found out that my phone was in recovery mode and needed to be restored. I tried to restore several times and the same thing happens. iTunes will begin the process (extracting files first) after that part is complete and iTunes starts the next step of preparing the phone for restoring, my phone will go black as if it shut off and then the apple screen comes on and then the usb cord connecting to iTunes shows up and then iTunes delivers the error21 code. Can anyone help me please? I've tried pressing the home button and lock button at the same time for seconds and then holding the home button blah blah but it does me no good because I can't get my phone to do anything unless its connected to a charger or the computer. IPod stuck in recovery mode, won't restore, "Unknown Error 1430"
Hi, I have a 160gb iPod classic, and I've had minimal problems with it in the past. I can safely say that it's my favorite MP3 player out there. I did have one before that overheated or something like that, and I was given a replacement one. But, within a day of having this brand new iPod, I was listening to it at work and the music stopped all of the sudden. I pulled it out of my pocket and the screen had the Apple logo that you see when you restart it, only the background had blue, white, and gray on it, instead of the typical gray background. I restarted it and it told me to restore it with iTunes. After I connected it to my Mac, it told me it detected an iPod in recovery mode and that it needed to be restored. Anytime I click restore though, shortly after it extracts the software, it says it's restoring and then gives me an error message telling me it can't be restored. I got several numbers at first, and one error message telling me that it couldn't be unmounted, but now it's consistently giving me the Unknown Error 1430. I tried restoring on a PC, and formatting it as well, but neither worked. iTunes is up to date on both of them, and I've reinstalled it several times on each. I would rather not take it to the store to get it replaced again. Any help?

I plug my ipod into the computer, itunes reconizes it as corruptted.
I go to my computer and click on the insertable disk. for my its name is (j): removable memory. But when i click on it, it says insert a dick into the drive..

My iphone 4s will not start past the apple logo. When I try to restore using itunes, it will not restore, and I get error code 9. I have tried different computers and USB ports with no luck. Any other suggestions?

My iphone is stuck in recovery mode. It is showing error 4013. Has anyone got any ideas on what to do next. The 02 shop has said it is a hardware problem, but the phone has not been damaged in any way.
Did you try these suggestions?
Check USB connections
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, thentroubleshooting your security software.
Common errors: 13, 14, 1600-1629, 1643-1650, 2000-2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response”, and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you see your error after changing your USB connections, continue to the next section to troubleshoot your hardware.
Check for hardware issues
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the alert when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

After attempting to update to ios 7, my iphone is stuck in recovery mode and will not connect to the itunes software server. I have already tried the resetting with power swich and home button and plugging into computer but it says the "iPhone software update server cannot be contacted." I am locked out of my phone. Try going to recovery mode as described here. You may have to try this more than once to succeed.
Use the original iTunes that the iPhone synced with.

I've done all of these, even trying a different USB port, and still, nothing. This is really confusing. Windows 8.1 said something to do with USB malfunction or something and nothing works. I need to restore my iPhone quickly and nothing has happened. My cable is not genuine Apple product. iTunes makes the noise that it makes when I connect the device, but it doesn't say 'iPhone is in recovery mode' or even say 'iPhone' in the corner. I am really fed up and would really appreciate a response.

My iphone is stuck in recovery mode. The apple logo is up and proceeded about 70percent of the way then it just stops moving. I have looked all over the internet and I am out of warranty. On itunes it reads restoring iphone software. My software was 4.3.2 but it was in the process of being upgraded to 4.3.3 so i dont know if it is being restored to 4.3.2 or 4.3.3... Please help

i've updated my iphone 4 (gsm) to ios 6.0.1 and after that it's stuck in recovery mode (itunes logo cable), i tried many solutions but nothing works, did any one has an idea about this , thank you
I should add that this has never been Jailbroken. I keep reading that a lot of times this is the case for a jail broken phone.
I have also gone through the not very helpfull steps on apples site to fix this.. It is not a security issue since i dont have an antivirus or any 3rd party software for my computer. -
