IPHONE no longer recognized

iTunes does not recognize my iPhone anymore. I cannot sync it either! This is so frustrating!!!!

FINALLY!!
This worked for me:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...............
Only 4+ hours LOST.
It would appear that the software did not properly identify the iPhone (or any apple device) as needing the APPLE MOBILE DEVICE USB DRIVER, but instead listed it as a portable device. (Check in your device manager... my clue was that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver would not launch when the device was connected.)
Once I followed the directions, and reset the device driver, it started to work again.
The title of the support page is "iPhone, iPad, or iPod is not recognized by Windows due to driver installation issues" (in case the link doesn't work).

  • IPhone no longer recognized by ITunes, and Service is not starting

    Hi
My IPhone is no longer recognized by ITunes. I already tried the steps on http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1495, but had no luck, and I also tried to remove all relevant Apple software and reinstall, but this did not result in anything either.
Now, also, if I start up ITunes, it tells me, that the "Apple Mobile Device Service" is not running. Trying to start this service by hand, did not work. Following the rules on http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 did not work.
I am running Windows 7 Professional 64bit, my ITunes version is 9.0.3.
This is my third PC in this household this has happened (i switched the PCs after it appeared on my other PCs), and I am simply not willing to do that again.
Please, if anyone has an answer, it would be greatly appreciated.
    cheers, Roland

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2553 as a last ditch effort but if it has been recognized by computer before and you did everything in HT1923 and TS1495 then i would say like msconfig stuff or disk cleanup and such.. it would be worth it to contact apple tech support if HT1923, TS1495 and HT2553 doesn't work.

  • Iphone no longer recognized in itunes

My iPhone is no longer recognized in iTunes.  I can see it as a device in Windows, but it no longer appears in iTunes.

Well, after going thru the Apple fix of uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes (and all related products), it now recognizes the iPhone.  Why is it I have to spend 2.5 hours going thru this process instead of Apple releasing only tested and proven products?  The same thing happened with my first iPhone when I brought it home and installed it, it blew up Windows.  I had to do a system restore. Look if you guys don't want to seriously support Windows, fine just say so.  I'll move on to a Windows phone and be perfectly happy.
My first computer was an Apple 2+, but I got driven off by high pricing and limited software.  Apple people like to make fun of Microsoft, but I haven't had these kind of problems with Windows since about Release 2.something.
I'm done screwing around with you guys.  Call me if you ever start to act professionally and get it right.

  • IPhone no longer recognized as a drive on my Windows machine

When I connect my iPhone to my computer, the standard window/dialog no longer appears, asking me what I want to do (Open this folder for viewing, etc.). The iPhone is no longer recognized as a drive on my computer. Consequently, I can no longer browse the iPhone's photos folder as a regular Windows drive.
I opened the Device Manager and Apple iPhone appears in the Portable Devices section with the error message "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged."
However, when I connect the iPhone to my computer, iTunes starts up normally and begins syncing the iPhone. I just want to regain the ability to browse my iPhone's photos folder the way I used to.
I've reinstalled iTunes, but that hasn't helped.
Has anyone else faced this problem? Are there any suggestions/solutions out there?
    Thanks in advance.

To copy photos from the Camera Roll start your photo capture software on your computer. Does that application recognize your iPhone as a camera? Is so you're good to go for copying the photos to your computer.

  • IPhone no longer recognized by iPhoto

    Hi,
iPhoto no longer recognizes my iPhone when it's plugged in. The phone still shows up in iTunes.
Any ideas on "triggering" iPhoto to see the phone?
    Thanks.

I recently have been having the same problems too, my iPhoto is not seeing my iPhone. iTunes, however, does.
As suggested, I've tried setting the AUTO-LOCK to NEVER on my iPhone, but it has not solved the problem.
I've also tried deleting any and all images that were emailed to me, MMS'd to me, or images I've downloaded from the internet, and still iPhoto does not recognize my iPhone.
I also tried using Aperture2, and Picassa to see if by those applications might possibly detect my iPhone, but unfortunately they do not either. Is it possible that there might be a conflict with photos taken by third party photo app's? For example, I recently downloaded an app called AutoStitch and Camera Zoom. I only ask because I keep seeing solutions offered up that image files that were not taken by the iPhone dedicated app might be what is keeping iPhoto from recognizing the iPhone. Just a thought?
    Thanks.

  • IPhone no longer recognized by PC, won't show up in itunes

I've had my iPhone for months and it always worked and synced perfectly with my HP computer running XP. Last night out of the blue when I plugged it into the usb 2.0 port I always use, it stopped recognizing it. It gives me a message that there's an unknown device and shortly after that the device has malfunctioned. I know the iPhone is fine because when I plug it into my notebook it recognizes it and tries to sync right away. I tried different ports, shut down and restarted the computer a half dozen times, reinstalled itunes 8.0.1.11, gone into the device manager and removed the unknown device and tried again but nothing works. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

are you using a usb hub ?
i had similar problem but then relized my usb 2.0 hub was acting up (belkin 4 port) when my printer wouldnt work
had to unplug power and disconnected from computer and let it rest
    so far so good
    hope this helps

  • IPhone no longer recognized by Lightroom

It seems that (after updating to the latest iTunes?) I can no longer import photos from the iPhone into Lightroom, as I was able to before. Does anybody have the same issue and/or a way to fix this ?
    Some things I tried:
    - Image Capture does not see the iPhone.
    - I cannot say "sync with folder" as it would erase the 300 pics I still have not imported into Lightroom

I answered my own question: restoring the iPhone solves the problem.

  • IPhone no longer recognized after installing iTunes 9.2

Hi there. I have an original iPhone, a Powerbook G4 running OS 10.4.11, and everything was working perfectly until I updated iTunes to 9.2. Now when I connect by iPhone to the computer literally nothing happens. The phone does not show up. It does not open iPhoto or iTunes. I have restarted my computer several times, reset the phone several times, and still nothing. I am planning to buy the new iPhone as soon as it is available, but in the meanwhile I am really concerned about not being able to sync to iTunes. I would appreciate any advice! Thanks.

I'm running OSX 10.6.4 on MacBook Pro (a couple of years old) ... and my (original) iPhone is recognized just fine by the new iTunes 9. I too am anxiously awaiting arrival of my iPhone 4 ... and got the same kind of shipment information as other folks described on the iPad; i.e. being shipped direct from China via Hong Kong. I sure hope they've got the bugs worked out of that process since the iPad 3G fiasco. I was also amused (NOT!) by "additional information" in the shipping-email I got from Apple. Basically it says that if there is a delay in activating the phone via iTunes, "trust us" that Apple and AT&T will be working to get it activated as quickly as possible and will send out an email when it is activated --- in other words "don't call us, we'll call you".
David Brooks during his commentary last night on The News Hour made some comments about how business processes are really starting to break down in this country. I couldn't agree more. Last Thursday's mess was inexcusable! You'd think that the huge (and incredibly profitable) corporations like (BP), Apple, and AT&T would spend as much time and effort and money to get their processes in as good a shape as their products! Urrrrrr! Let's hope that the iPhone enrollment process goes better.

  • IPhone no longer recognized by iTunes

I've searched the forum for this topic. I've done ABSOLUTELY every suggestion in each one of them. iTunes will still not see my iPhone. The only time I was successful was with msconfig. I had to turn bonjour service on. start iTunes. then I was prompted to turn on Apple device thingy. Turned it on, plugged in phone, and it showed up. Left both services running and automatic, rebooted. Itunes refused to recognize iPhone again. I am completely fed up with this thing. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

hi. i had same prob with my 3G and the missus 3Gs.
spent a good hour or so on phone to apple support being run through a million and one things to try, to be eventually told it was an issue with microsoft, and not apples itunes update. despite my words to the contrary, he said he couldn't help me any further.
luckily i have tech geek friend who looked into it and gave me some directions to look for, and it turned out to be the apple mobile device driver. it was missing or incomplete in the update. eventually got it sorted by updating the driver, but i had to do it for each device. for some reason just updating it didn't work for all devices in one go.
trouble is i cant for the life of me remember where i found the update. i'll keep looking, but i hope that maybe this helps, cause since doing this action, neither phone has had an issue with itunes.

  • Ipod and iphone no longer recognized after upgrade to 8.0.1

I just updated my iTunes to the 8.0.1 version and now none of my ipods or my iphone connect with itunes AND they won't charge via the usb cable that connects them. They worked perfectly until I installed the upgrade. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? If I uninstall iTunes and replace with previous version, will the tv shows I"m currently downloading that say 8.0.1 is required for their download, still play? Will my library still work?
    Thanks for your help.

Well another reboot seemed to fix it for now. Problem solved

  • Help!  iPhone no longer recognized after update/sync

Help. After months of delaying doing the update for my iPhone 3gs, I finally hooked it up tonight.  Well half way through the update an "unexpected error" occured.  Now my phone only has the 'connect to itunes' screen.  I've tried rebooting my pc and phone.  The phone will show the apple then the 'connect to tunes' screen.  Now iTunes won't recognize the iPhone and my computer doesn't want to see it as a device.  Help!  Not sure what else to try, why it happened or what to do.   TIA

Try kicking it out of recovery mode with RecBoot. If that does now work, read through section 3 in link below.

  • After connecting my itunes library (on external drive) to another laptop iphone no longer recognized

I'm hoping to get some help on a matter of 'portability' of my itunes library.
My itunes library resides at work attached to my MacBook Pro 17" running 10.7.5 but on an external USB drive.
Using iTunes 10.7 on Macbook Air and 11.1 on MacbookPro (to which the iTunes library is normally attached from the USB drive).
I bought a Macbook Air to travel with also running 10.7.5.
I connected the external drive (where the itunes library resides) now that I'm away from from the office to the Macbook Air, changed the itunes media location to the external USB drive itunes library, with "Keep iTunes Media Folder Organised" and "Copy files to iTunes Media Folder when adding to my library" then did the File/Library/Organise Library/Consodilate Files function.
Alas, my iphone when connected to the MacBook Air is still not recognised on sync. I want to be able to back-up my iphone when not at the office (but not to the iCloud, to a local drive). Is this possible?
    Thanks very much!
