IPhone no longer shows up in My Computer

I have Windows Vista and used to be able to see the iPhone in "My Computer" when it was connected. All I could really do was look in the photos folder (which is what I want to do, to import some photos from my computer to my iPhone), but all of a sudden, it connects to iTunes fine, but it's like my computer doesn't see the phone at all. Any ideas?

Just an FYI update on my post re: after update to version 2.0.2
my computer no longer sees my iPhone as if it were an external
HD as it had before update using version 1.1.4. Shortly after posting
this problem, I logged into my usual user acct, not the user name specified
with iTunes user acct, and although I had chosen the option of making
iTunes the default music player for iPhone acct, I hadn't indicated
the iTunes default with my usual surfing user acct. Anyway, just after
I posted and logged out of that acct and logged into my usual one
a dialog box opened unsolicited and asked if I wanted to make iTunes
the default for usual acct name. I said no thanks, and now on that user
acct I am able to copy photos from iPhone without sync process as if
the iPhone was an external HD as I could before. Now before I sync
Photos back into the iPhone using the iTunes user acct, i select
the photos I want and put them into the specific folders I have set
up inside the iPhone photos folder and tah da, the folders will have
The pics I want back on the iPhone in addition to the Camera Roll
folder. Still wish I could figure out why the orientation of pics sometimes
requires editing for correction. Knowing how to use a screen shot to
repair orientation has helped alot though. To be continued.

IPhone no longer showing up in (My) Computer and photos no longer synching

I recently switched from a desktop to a laptop, both of which run Vista Ultimate. The desktop synched fine but the laptop will not sync pictures. I noticed that the desktop shows the iPhone in Computer as a camera but the laptop does not.
I have:
1. Uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled iTunes in numerous ways
2. Manually deleted all references to Apple, Apple Computer, Quicktime and iTunes from the registry and all folders off of the hard drive
3. I have done a soft and hard reset of the iPhone
4. I have restored the iPhone to factory from within iTunes
I know it has something to do with it not showing up in Computer. And if I delete the iTunes driver from Device Manager and tell it to delete the driver from the hard drive, the PC then detects the iPhone as a camera and it shows up in Computer but it no longer shows up in iTunes and I cannot manually copy any files to it
Any suggestions would be apprectiated!!

I fixed it!
You have to go into your Pictures folder and delete the iPhone Photo Cache folder....then it will recreate it and successfully sync!!
It still does not show up in My Computer but I think if I reconnect my iPOD and enable Disk-Access, that that may resolve that small problem as well

IPhone no longer shows up as a hard disk for photo transfer

When I used to plug in my iPhone it would show up in the My Computer page as an external disk. If I clicked through the folders I could easily move pics from my phone to the computer. I had already shut off the auto open feature of the program select.
Not sure why my iPhone no longer shows up. It shows up fine with iTunes

The iPhone won't work as an external disk, never has, by default. It will show up in iTunes, it is supposed to there, but not on your desktop.
Are you thinking of an iPod Touch, maybe? Maybe you have a phone that was tampered with, maybe?
There are third party apps that might do what you are talking about.

IPhone no longer shows up in iTunes: can't update files, etc.

Hi there,
For some reason (and I don't think it's the USB connection... I've tried two) by iPhone no longer shows up in the iTunes window when I connect it to my MBP. Consequently, I can't update my Address Book, or anything like that.
Does anyone know what I can do to correct this? I've tried restarting the phone (a 3G, by the way, running the new OS)

If you move and rename the the iTunes folder you won't see any music in iTunes the next time you launch it. You can quit iTunes and rename it then put it back or leave it and launch iTunes while holding Option to choose the location of the iTunes library.

After updating to 7.0.6 my iphone no longer shows in itunes. However it is recognised by my PC (windows 8) when click on my computer. I have tried reinstalling itunes and making sure the drivers are up to date. Has anyone else had this problem?

My iphone 5 no longer shows up as a device in itunes, iphoto or image capture when I plug it into the USB port. The ports are working with other devices and the phone charges when it is plugged into the charger. All software is up to date on computer and phone.

Hi Why do you need to use a PC since iOS 7 you can download updates Apps everything Over wifi I have iPhone 5 s & 2 ipads in over a year I have never connected them to My Apple pc Try a wifi update If you have problems Try a Reboot press & hold power button & menu button hold both Down until You see Apple Logo you will not last any data. Songs deleted on iphone - no longer show up on icloud?

I have signed up for itunes match and am in the middle of downloading my songs back to my iphone. While it was plugged in to my Macbook, I went under my iphone in itunes and deleted a couple of songs (wasn't really thinking at the time, and that's how I was used to doing it). Now, those songs no longer show up as available downloads on the iphone but they are on the itunes on my computer and have been sent up to the cloud. I have re-synced my phone, I have updated the itunes match and those songs are still not available to download am I stuck?

Hard Drive No Longer Showing Up In My Computer

I Purchased an HP Pavilion dv7-6188ca Entertainment Notebook PC back in December of 2011 and had no problems up until this point. I noticed today that my secondary internal hard drive is no longer working. It doesn't show up in My Computer any longer, nor the computer BIOS. I noticed a small dent to the right of the touchpad and was thinking that a family member may have dropped something on it. I want to know if there is anything that can be done to try and at least recover the data on it. Any suggestions would be helpful. I also checked in Administrative Tools and the drive doesn't show up there either.
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. I haven't done anything recently to change settings on the computer or anything either.

IPod Touch no longer showing up under My Computer

My iPod Touch is no longer showing in the device list under My Computer and as such can't access it to get my photos off it.
It works in iTunes just fine, syncs fine, etc.
If I go to Devices and Printers, it used to be listed under the Devices category as iPod, but now shows under the Unspecified category as Apple Mobile Device USB Driver, so basically a generic device.
I have no devices with exclamation points or any other trouble signs under Device Manager.
Help?

Well, I am not entirely sure what exactly happened but after trying numerous times to reinstall the drivers and getting all sorts of error messages, I finally got Windows 7 to cooperate. The iPod Touch now shows up and is being detected as a digital camera under Devices, and under Computer it is showing up under Portable Devices. If I double-click on it I can view my pictures, transfer them, delete them, etc.

Apple TV 1 is no longer showing up on my computer as a device? what do i do???

My Apple TV 1 worked fine. I'm not sure if it stopped showing up under devices on my iMac before or after I downlaoded iTunes 10 or after I changed my router, but I also have to reset my network on the TV every day or so, as it randomly stops being connected to the network.
Its a real pain and I'd love some help. I've got tons of movies and photos I used to sync to the Apple Tv, now I cant do anything as it doesnt show up on my computer!

IPhone no longer shows up as a drive in "My Computer"

Howdy. I am running Windows7 x64 RTM, and have been successfully using iTunes 8.2.1.6 and an iPhone for a while now. No problem with syncing. Until....
I have a second W7 box configured the same as my primary, and I plugged my iPhone into it just to charge. Oops, it tried to sync and I started the abort process from iTunes and made sync a manual process. Unfortunately, somewhere during this activity, Windows decided that it would no longer recognize the iPhone as a USB hard drive any more. When I plug in the iPhone, it will work with iTunes with no problem, but neither of the two machines I've connected it to will recognize it as a hard drive. This was working on my main system until this event. I've restarted the Apple moblie device service, uninstalled / reinstalled the USB device and uninstalled / reinstalled iTunes and nothing has changed.
How can I get my iphone drive back? I need this to transfer photos, etc.

Well, I think I answered this myself. It appears that unless an actual picture has been taken and stored in the camera roll, Windows won't go through the effort of loading the camera driver for it. I accidentally snapped a new pic on the phone and the next time I plugged it in, voila, it showed up as a camera and I was able to download the image.
Doh!

Why does my iPhone 6 not show up in my computer when it's plugged in with the USB cable?

I have an Iphone 6 for about one week now. I would like to view my photos and movies on my laptop (windows 7). But I can't view them because it doesn't show up as a portable device in my computer. When I plug it in I do hear the sound as if any USB would make.
Does anyone know what's going on? Am I doing something wrong?

I had the same problem on my Iphone 5. It drove me crazy. I tried reinstalling ITunes and my apple mobile device driver, but nothing solved the problem. I was able to detect my iphone in windows if I went to control panel, then programs and features, found apple mobile device, right click, then click repair. This would allow windows explorer to detect my iphone, but I had to do this every time and it also drove me crazy, After trying everything I could think of, I decided to try and uninstall a program called expresso media. I am not sure where it even came from, but walla, once I uninstalled it my iphone shows up in explorer and iTunes just like it should. Simple but frustrating. Good luck,
