IPhone ? on messages/charging

I'm hoping to get an iPhone soon for me and some other family members, and I'm doing a little advanced research. Two questions:
1) Is there any warning that the iPhone gives when it's running low on power and needs recharging? The phone I have now beeps in warning and flashes a "Low battery!" message. Does the iPhone do this, or do you just need to keep an eye on the battery icon? I know the screen will flicker off if the battery is low, but is there any other type of warning?
2) There is, is there not, a number on the phone icon indicating the number of waiting, unlistened-to voice messages, correct? I know there are complaints that the phone does not offer a way to remind the user that they've missed a call with rings/vibrations--but if a person looks at the phone's icons, they will see the number of messages waiting, yes?
Thanks for helping me to gather this advanced data.

I tried that yesterday and the girl that finally came on the line was an idiot!!  I think AT&T has outsourced some of their customer service.  40minute long story short...supposedly she has sent my issue to the dispute team and I should get an email later in June whether they are going to reimburse me for those texts!!  She missed the entire point as to WHY those charges were on my bill!

Then put a SIM in. You cannot activate an iPhone without a compatible Sim.
If your iPhone was hacked/jailbroken the update restore the lock.

  • Iphone will not charge via usb-to-computer nor via brick; I've tested with two different cables. Just before this problem arose, I got messages similar to "This accessory is not made to work with iPhone."

Most of my concern is in the subject line. I probably should've saved some content to include here. Allow me to elaborate:
While traveling with the tiny brick, I got a message on my 3GS phone that "This accessory is not made to work with iPhone”; however, the charger was working fine with another phone and with an iPad.
I tested alternatives by removing and re-inserting the cable (obviously, as I tested other devices), changing wall receptacles, shutting the phone off (all the way), all to no avail.
When I got home, I plugged a different cable--one that was connected to my iMac rather than the brick--into the my 3GS; it still didn't charge.
So, I'm hypothesizing that perhaps some debris (from a pocket?) got into the charging receptacle of the 3GS and is disrupting the connection. Perhaps there are other hypotheses.
I am reluctant to do a reset, as (a) the problem doesn't appear to be a software issue (the phone and software are all working, though the charge is declining) and (b) I don't want to lose the contents before I can sync it (now that I'm home, again).
I'd welcome suggestions. Meanwhile, I suppose I shall e-mail photos and notes from the phone to myself before I lose the remaining charge.

Try to clean the 30-pin receiver slot either by blowing air into it or using a microfiber cloth. If the problem persists, based on what you've already said, I'd say the problem is most likely hardware, and would need to be replaced or repaired. I hope your iPhone is still under the 1-Year Manufacturer Warranty, or if applicaable extended warranty. You can check by calling AppleCare National iPhone Technical Support at 1 (800) 694-7466.

  • IPhone 5 show message "charging is not supported" yet charge shows 100%

My iPhone 5 worked fine the first two nights. Then on the 3rd. morning (after charging all night) I see the message "charging is not supported with this accessory". I switched to old iPhone 4 wall charger with lightning cable, same message in the morning. Tried again with new lightning cable I received in the mail and original iPhone 5 wall charger. Worked fine first night and morning, but on 2nd. morning message "charging is not supported..) came on again, yet charge shows 100%. Each time I've plugged in lightning cable everything look ok (no "charging not suported" message). The message always appears in the morning after a nights charging.
Any ideas to try before I make an appointment with Apple Genius and drive 20 miles?
    Thanks,
    Bud P.

I took my iPhone 5 to the Apple Store and spoke with an Apple Genius. He checked out my iPhone and then I was told that that was not a hardware problem with the cable or charger unit, but that the message could appear if the phone was fully charged and left on too long after being fully charged. Since then I let the battery run down longer before I charge and then fully charge in the evening and unplug before I go to sleep. I have not had the message appear again since I did that.

  • My iPhone is not charging in my 2009 Infinity

My iPhone is not charging when connected to my 2009 Infinity. I'm getting a " charging is not supported" message on the screen. Funny thing is that my older iPod would sync and charge when connected. Anyone know why or how I can fix this?
    Thanks

To rule out a software problem, set it up as new device:
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
But I think that this is a hardware issue. If this started after the battery has been replaced, bring it back to the Service Provider and let them check the phone, the replacement of a battery is also covered by a repair warranty.

  • HT1476 Message: charging is not supported by this accessory. Tried 3 charge cords, blew all clean with air, no phone charging icon.

Trying to charge the iphone 3.  When connecting charger, receive message " charging is not supported by this accessory".  Three chargers tried and do not work.  Blew all connectors clean with compressed air.  Battery charging icon does not show when plugged in and phone slowly losing power.

Clean iPhone charging port with clean toothbrush and small amount of Isopropyll Alcohol. Clean very well especially on top of the midrib which is where the pins are.

  • IPhone: how to charge the battery when in Europe.

I'm going to Germany for 6 months, and I will most certainly be taking my iPhone. The only thing I'm not sure about it is will I need a Power Converter Adaptor to plug into the wall with a Plug Adaptor? Or will I only need to use the Plug Adaptor?
Someone told me that the iPhone has the capability to automatically switch over the power conversion from US to European without the Converter Adaptor Plug, so that I only need a plug to fit the German Sockets.
Can anyone clear this up for me? I don't want to fry my iPhone!

And if you want to be really cool -- you can get the Apple international adapter kit from the apple store and just slip on the appropriate plug right onto your charger brick -- I have a set that I use constantly, and they interchangeable on the iPod/iPhone charger brick, as well as the Macbook, Macbook Pro, and other charger bricks as well. Very handy.

  • Settings on iPhone to avoid charges when travelling question about carrier

    Hi
Want to check setting  on iPhone to avoid charges when travelling on iPhone 5 .
I have googled but still wanted to check as I only want to use wifi and with air plane mode I actually recovered a text message which led me to think I was not fully disabled for travelling and avoiding cost so I make the following additional changes but wanted to ensure nothing was missing.
    1.  Enable airplane mode
    2.  Then Settings - cellular data - off
I noticed that under Settings that Carrier is still set as Automatic and on.  Should this be off?
    Please clarify, thank you

Based from my carriers for my country, to be able to connect to an overseas carrier (to receive calls or sms from your home country) it can be enabled by contacting the carriers; with or without a charge.
Then, the carrier can be set to automatic/ON (connects to an overseas carrier automatically that is prefered by your home country's carrier) or OFF (choose the respective carriers that you prefer).
It is still best to switch off the cellular data when you're overseas.
    Just a precaution:
    Go Settings > Mobile/Cellular > Data Roaming > OFF
Data Roaming: Uses mobile data when you're connected to an overseas carrier (heavy charges apply).
    Hope it helps.

  • HT1476 iPhone 4 not charging or showing up in iTunes.

My iPhone 4 doesn't show up in iTunes anymore.  It launches iPhoto but not iTunes. Also, it will only charge intermittently on an HP PC. When connected to any other charger, its home Mac or another Mac I get this message - "Charging is not supported with this accessory". I've tried several different cables and rebooting as well. Haven't updated iOS yet after hearing many horror stories from people who did with older iPhones.

I think I solved my iPhone 4 problems. Mac OS X v10.6 has issues with iTunes not seeing iPhones. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3540
Followed instructions from above link then installed latest version of iTunes. Restored my iPhone which updated the firmware and software. iTunes now sees my iPhone and my iPhone is charging from my Mac as well as from a wall charger. Hope the fixes hold!

  • IPHONE beeping while charging.

I had my IPHONE on the charger dock, I received 2 text messages...it made the normal new text sound but then started to beep 2 or 3 times a second... I took the phone off the dock checked messages and was still beeping. No calendar reminder or alarm was set...the beeping wouldn't stop until i turned off the phone. Any suggestions?

My guess is an obscure bug caused by an interaction between 2 applications that was not anticipated by the programmers. If it happens again then further investivation is called for.

  • IPhone will not charge when plugged into computer

My phone was not working, and so I took it to the apple store nearby. Here were the problems:
-error message saying "this device not made to work with iPhone"
-would not charge when plugged into computer OR wall charger
-person on other end of phone calls said i sounded really far away and had trouble hearing me
-when i shut it off, it restarts itself immediately
-cant do a manual reset holding the power and center buttons at same time
-when plugged into the computer, mouse freezes, and a message appears saying ""power surge on hub port A usb device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port."
At the genuis bar they told me they cant help me cause that little water damage indicator inside the headphone hole is pink instead of white! I have never ever ever ever ever EVER gotten my phone directly wet. The only thing i could think of was the humidity in the bathroom when I'm taking a shower, and using the timer to use hair remover on my legs lol. But i think this is totally unfair, they wont repair my phone, or even really look at it because of this supposed water damage. My phone has worked fine up to this point, and the thing that happened that started all of this is when i dropped it about a foot off the ground in a DRY parking lot.
Is there any way they will replace my iphone at no charge?

Well don't give up try again maybe your luck will change when you go back up there, let somebody else look at your phone not the same person that told you that.I would get a second and a 3rd option about my phone. When you go back don't even tell them what somebody already told you up there ones.
And after the 3rd time I'll ask them well can they send your phone off to be fixed,It might not be nothing wrong with your phone it might be just they eyes playing tricks on them.Cause I promise you I know my phone had gotten some water in it cause I was sitting on the porch one day me and about 6 other people one of my cousin came out and through a bucket of water at my brother and I was sitting right on the side of him.And when I say my phone look like I than gave it a bath witch when they did that I had already had call the Apple store and told them something was wrong with my phone. And they had gave me appt to come up there,so I went to the Apple store I wanted say two day's latter after I made the appt to let them see my phone but my cousin and brother was playing with that water the day before I had to go so I guess that's why I was mad cause I was going to get other phone the next day after apple look at my old phone. So even with all that they still gave me other phone and I don't see how I didn't have no water in my phone cause of how much water they had through on my phone.
I guess I was luck cause if they would have told me that I would have freaked out so badly. And the reason why cause I wouldn't had my phone for five days and for them to tell me they couldn't do something oh yea they would have done something cause I would have went to jail that day for tearing up something in the store that worth my 400 and something dollars I spent on my phone and it would have bent one of them computer that would have bent history.
But I'M telling you,you going to be okay don't give up.Make you other appt and see what they say.

  • My iPhone overheated whilst charging, and won't let me turn it on or charge anymore. What can I do?

I was using my iPhone 4, with the Skype app open, when the iPhone overheat message popped up. I let it cool down before I began using it again, only to find that it won't charge, and now the charge's completely exhausted, I cannot open my phone at all, and I cannot get it charged either. What can I do?

    Hello Eena23,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone 4.  I would be concerned too if my iPhone was not powering on.  I found an article with steps you can take when you encounter an issue like this.  I recommend following the steps below:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
    Contact Apple Support.
