IPhone Ringtone Not Synced to iPhone

I bought a ringtone-eligible tune at the iTunes store, edited it, and it appeared in iTunes as a ringtone. When I synced my iPhone to the SAME computer, which is the computer I always sync the iPhone to, the ringtone did not sync and I got this message: "The ringtone was not copied to the iPhone because you are not authorized to play it on this computer." Same message when I try to transfer the tune I just bought to the iPhone. Of course, I can play the tune AND the ringtone just fine on the computer in question. Can anybody explain or help? Thanks.

My problem is similar. I had a few dozen songs I'd bought over the years that showed up this morning as "ringtone eligible". Then I bought two new ones. Everything downloaded correctly. Then I realized that I couldn't 'edit' the ringtone because my laptop's sound ports don't work any more, so I copied the two new songs to a Mac at work, and "authorized" that Mac to play the songs. That all worked fine, but suddenly the ringtone icon was gone from the newly downloaded songs. Then, when I looked at my laptop on the adjoining desk, ALL the ringtone icons had disappeared from my previously purchased songs and the two new ones. Now I can't find any way to get the ringtone icons back, and therefore I can't make any ringtones at all (even though I had dozens of eligible songs only moments before!). I also noticed that, on the laptop, there is an icon in the left-hand list for Ringtones (under Music, iTunes Store, etc.) but on the desktop computer (running the exact same version of iTunes - 7.4.1 (2)) there is no such icon. The songs play on both computers, but there are no ringtone icons anywhere (the column is visible, but empty). Any ideas?

  • My iphone will not sync, says 'iphone did not sync because sync failed to start'

I downloaded an update last night that took about 3+ hours (maybe it's just my computer?) and when I unplugged my iPhone, all my apps were gone.  Am trying to sync it and it's telling me the 'sync failed to start'.  Please help!!

    Ditto.

  • Iphone 4 not syncing to itunes

My iphone 4 will not sync to itunes. itunes recognizes it but when i sync, it will say that the syncing failed to start. Any advice?

I am having a problem with my iPhone 4 not syncing to iTunes in Win 7. It says "cannot read contents of iPhone, please click on restore to reset the iPhone to original factory setting."
I have tried many possible solutions but still the problem persists.
    Including
    1.  Reinstalling iTunes
    2.  Power cycling my iPhone
    3.  Disengaging the iPhone automatic synchronization in iTunes
    4.  Deleting all previous iPhone sync backups
    5.  "Resetting the sync backups"
    6.  "Resetting the network settings" on my iPhone
    FYI
    1.  Ironically, I am able to copy my pictures and videos from the iPhone using Windows Explorer.
    2.  All of the music was strangly deleted from my iPhone
    3.  The problem appears to have coincided when I installed iTunes 10 on August 31st.
    4.  At the time of that the problem surfaced, I had used almost all of the 32 GB of memory on my iPhone and was not able to take iPhone videos because of an error message that my "memory was full" [I have since deleted 5 GB of Apps from my iPhone and it currently says I have 4.5 GB of free space when it is shown in Windows Explorer].
    5.  The Hotspot feature on my iPhone abruptly stopped working around the same time that the problem surfaced. When I was last able to use the Hotspot feature, my iPhone indicated that there were actually 2 devices connected to my iPhone 4 Hotspot. But I have never given out my password, so possibly my iPhone was accessed by an unauthorized user.
How do I fix this "will not read contents of the iPhone issue?

  • Issue with Calendar not syncing with iPhone 3g

Issue with Calendar not syncing with iPhone 3g.
    Solution
Create backup of your entire mailbox before starting (THIS IS IMPORTANT)
Create offline folder (.pst file) Check windows help on how to do this for your version.
    Open folders view on Outlook
Right click on Calendar in tree view and 'copy to' offline .pst folder
Go back to main calendar view and delete all entries in your calendar.
Create simple cal entry and sync test with iphone
If this works then start dragging cal entries back from the offline folder into the main calendar then sync after each step....
I moved events in this order
    -Yearly recurrences (ie Birthdays)
    - Monthly recurrences
    - weekly recurrences
    - Daily recurrences
All appointments from the beginning of this year >> to the end of time!
If all these sync then the issue is with an older cal item and you have to decide if you actually need these in you current calendar.
I chose to leave these in the offline cal and if i need access them from there.
If at any point the sync fails then you know you have a corrupt cal entry in the block you just transferred. Move the offending items back into the offline folder and try again in smaller chunks until you identify the offending items and delete them and manually recreate them in your real calendar.
Also smart to run the inbox (.pst /.ost ) repair tools for your OS/Outlook version.
    Fixed so far
    XP Pro / Outlook 2008
    XP Pro /Outlook 2003

I just updated the firmware to iPhone 2.0.1 and the syncing works great both ways.

  • After upgrading to a new iMac 27 my iPhone does not sync with iTunes

After having the Apple Store migrate all my data and programs from an older iMac to a new iMac 27" my iPhone does not sync.  After connecting the phone it begins and goes to about steps 3 or 4 and then the "apple" appears indicating it is finished - however new pictures have not been transferred to the phone and updates for apps have not happened.  Any ideas?

  • IPhone Calendar not syncing correctly with iCal since Lion-install

Since installing Lion, the calendar on my iPhone is not syncing correctly:
Events created on my iPhone don't show on my Mac
Events edited on my iPhone don't change on my Mac
Events that I created in iCal on my Mac, for test-purposes, and then deleted immediately, show up on the iPhone when syncing.
    Syncing through iTunes (not MobileMe).
Using WeekCal on my iPone, but it seems that the same is the case with the "original" calendar-app.
No similar experience prior to Lion-install.
iPhone is iOS 4.3.4 -up to date
Any ideas? Does anybody know how to reset the sync, for instance?

Hi, my name is Lucas, i'm an Apple Certified Technitian.
Last couple of weeks i've installed OSX Lion in a few Macs.
But one of them drove me crazy!
I have a Late 2007 White Macbook and i installed OSX Lion last week. I also have an iPhone 4 (Factory Unlocked) that i also updated to IOS 4.3.5 ... no problems syncing between them
Then i did the same with a 13'' Unibody MacBook Pro and an iPhone 4 (not unlocked)... no problems neither
Yesterday i installed Lion on a Mid2010 15" MacBook Pro and updated another iPhone 4 (Factory Unlocked) to IOS 4.3.5 and when i tried to sync the iphone with iTunes 10.4 nothing happened.
I mean, nothing.. the iTunes started syncing and when it gets to sync the calendars it stayied there forever.
I left it for hours and nothing.
As i said i'm an ACT so i tried everything.
1- Remove Calendars from iPhone and syncing again
    1- Repair Permittions
    2- Reinstall iTunes
3- Reset iTunes and iCal Preferences and Caches
4- Backup iCal - erase ical content and generate a new iCal database
5- Reset Syncing Prefs and logs
6- Use DiskWarrior from an external OSX
    7- Reset PRAM
    Nothing worked.
I thought it could be some conflict with Microsoft Outlook and/or Exchange server since this Mac is the only one of the three macs i installed that uses Outlook Sync and Exchange server and it's the only one that gave me trouble.
But disableing it didn't worked neither.
    THE SOLUTION
I Already solved this thing out. But i still don't understand the logic of all this... anyway, what y did is this:
1- turn off microsoft outlook sync with iCal (from outlook preferences)
2- Backed up iCals (Just in case)
3- Create a new Calendar Category (by default you have Work and Home... i created one called Test)
4- i Created a new task at that calendar
5- In iTunes uncheck the "Sync iCal" box and sync the iPhone
6- Check th "Sync iCal" box, then check the "sync the selected calendars" box
7- Check the "Test" calendar and sync the iPhone.
This worked so i started creating task in this Test Calendar both in iphone and mac, just to test it, Worked fine.
Then i selected all the other calendars (Home - Work - etc) and i turned on the outlook sync
Then i synced the iPhone and Voilà everything is working again.
Now i can create task in outlook calendar and when y sync the iphone it appears on it.
I don't know what the problem is... but this looks like the solution
    HOpe it works for you!

  • ICal on my iPhone does not sync with my Mac or iPad.  I am using the cloud.

My iCal calendar on my iPhone does not sync with my Mac or iPad.  I am on the cloud and every
thing else is syncing.  I've looked at preferences and everything looks right...

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

Calendar events that I create, update, or delete on my iPhone do not sync to iCloud, Mac, and iPad. I have deleted and added my calendar on my iPhone and reset my iPhone a few times but still calendar doesn't seem to sync to iCloud. Could you please help resolve this? Thanks.

yes, I have, I already tried to toggle icloud off and on again, did not work

If you restored as new, without using a backup, and still only get an option to restore, there is a hardware problem or the phone was previously hacked (jailbroken, downgraded iOS, unauthorized unlock).  Your only option is to take it to Apple or whoever provides iPhone service in your country.

  • Ical on iphone does not sync with ical on mac, but the mac does it!

My ical on my iphone does not sync with ical on mac using MobileMe, but reverse it works very well.
so typing an new event in ical on my phone will NOT appear in ical at my computer. Typing a new event on my mac, than within 10 seconds it appears on my phone.
anybody know how to resolve this? never had the problem before
problem 2: ical on my iphone seems to duplicate a lot of events. Non of them are duplicated on my computer.
    related problem?
    thank
    Hein

I have solved my problem - don't know if yours is the same. I noticed on iPhone, when I listed the calendars there are two sections: the top line showed "All Calendars ->"; when I click on that I get duplicate entries for everything.
    Below that is:
    "From My Mac.
"All from My Mac ->", followed by a list of individual calendars. When I clicked on that I got single entries.
This led me to realize that in my Settings ->Accounts I had the old "...mac.com" a/c and new "..me.com" a/c. I had thought it didn't matter.
Once I eliminated the "mac.com" A/c, I had only one set of calendars.
    Hope this helps you.

The EXACT same thing is happening to me. My phone is brand new, so the fact that I can't activate it due to this problem is really frustrating. I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times, followed apple's instructions in its problem solvers guide...nothing seems to work. I've messed around with the drivers a bit too, with no luck. Anyone have any ideas?
Go to the Event Viewer (Control Panel || Administrative Tools || Event Viewer) and look under Windows Logs || Application. Do you see any Bonjour errors? Since Windows 7 recognizes the camera part of the iPhone (nicely done Win7 integration!) Microsoft is probably not the culprit here.
Uninstall/reinstall iTunes is part of the process, but you also have to make sure you uninstall all the other components Apple installs (Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour for Windows, QuickTime), do a reboot, and then install everything from scratch. That may fix the problem.
This is exactly what an Apple guy talked me through over the phone. (I think I even uninstalled Apple Software Updater) I had a similar problem with the iPad on Win7 x64 - it was Bonjour that is the culprit. The x64 flavor of Bonjour for Windows is not as stable as the 32-bit version.
But everything has been golden for me since the reinstall...
    Give that a try.
Then if not, you could start looking to see if there is another ZeroConf/SSDP provider that is conflicting with Apple's somehow.

  • My iphone will not sync to itunes. It will connect to the computer but will not show up anywhere in itunes. PLEASE HELP!!

My iphone will not sync to itunes. It will connect to the computer but will not show up anywhere in itunes. PLEASE HELP!!

    Hey there Kellee,
It sounds like the device drivers for your iPhone are working in Windows, but the phone is not showing in iTunes. You should be able to get that showing again with the steps in this article:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
Start with these three steps, and there are more in the article if you need them.
    1. Update iTunes
Check that you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer. In iTunes, select "Check for updates" in the Help menu.
    2. Check the USB cable
Verify that the 30-pin to USB cable or Lightning Connector to USB cable is free of debris and not damaged. If another cable is available, test with that cable instead.
USB cables that are bundled with third-party products or accessories might support only charging those products (and not transmitting data) or they might work only with the product with which they were sold. Using one of these cables to sync could cause issues. If you are using a third-party case, such as an extended battery pack, try removing the case and connecting the Apple-supplied USB cable directly to your device.
    3. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
iOS devices require Apple Mobile Device Support, which should be automatically installed with iTunes. To verify whether it is installed, follow the steps appropriate for your Windows operating system below.
Windows XP: Click Start and choose Control Panel. Open the "Add or Remove Programs" control panel and verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is visible in the list of currently installed programs.
Windows Vista and Windows 7: Click Start and choose Control Panel. Click "Uninstall a program" (or if using Windows Vista's Classic View of the Control Panel, click "Programs and Features"). Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is visible in the list of currently installed programs.
Windows 8: Move the cursor to the upper right corner, click the magnifying glass, type Control Panel, and press Return. Click "Uninstall a program". Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is visible in the list of currently installed programs.
If Apple Mobile Device Support is not listed, remove iTunes, QuickTime, Apple Software Update, Apple Application Support, and then reinstall iTunes. Follow the steps appropriate for your Windows operating system below:
    Reinstall iTunes for Windows XP
Reinstall iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
If after reinstalling iTunes Apple Mobile Device Support is still not installed, follow steps in Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling
