IPhone voice recorder interrupted memos

I was using my voice memo app for an interview. I received a call during the interview and it shut the recorder off (I know I should have used airplane mode). However, I knew to restart the recorder. My problem is that I now have two memos, and the first one that was interupted won't play. The menu shows that the memo is there and that it is 15 minutes long. But when I play it, it acts as if there is nothing there. Also, when I synced to iTunes, the second memo showed up but the first did not. It seems like the data is there because of the menu display, but I don't know how to access the memo. Any ideas?

When you've finished recording, tap the word "Done" next to the big red button. You will be prompted to name your recording. It will then appear in the list below the big red button. Select the recording you want to review and tap the play button at the left of the scrubber bar.

I notice that every time I use my Voice Memos software on the 3G(s), if an call comes in, the Voice Memo stops recording and I won't know it till I look at the phone later. Is there ANY way to stop that for that not to happen and you can have perhaps the calls go directly into voice mail so that the Voice Memo feature doesn't get interrupted? It's useless to me otherwise.

The voice recorder application - just like every other iPhone application, native or 3rd party - will shut down when you receive a phone call. The iPhone operates under the assumption that the device is first and foremost a telephone.
As far as work arounds go, you can always put the phone in airplane mode when you need to use the voice recorder app uninterrupted. This will send all incoming calls directly to voicemail.

You can't do anything in the background of iOS. Apps are still one at a time (with a few exceptions like Music), and suspend when the app is closed. It's also against the App Store guidelines to sell apps that would allow such actions.
Though, maybe you could get your Voice Memos saved to MP3's, which can play in the background of other apps.

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

Syning iphone voice memos to itunes

I am having trouble syncing iphone voice memos to itunes. I am selling my iphone and need to ship it off, but I really want the vocie memos. I went to the music tab and checked include voice memos. I have backed up and synced my phone after,and I cannot get the voice memos playlist to appear on itunes. I have emailed some to myself, but some are too large. Please help

Yes, you can! You need an app on your Mac called Phone View. Download it, check the "show all files" option(or words to that effect) in prefs, and look under voice memos. Be careful not to delete any iphone system files, but if you follow the instructions you will easily see a section for voice memos. Drag the relevant .mov (this seems to contain the sound data) onto the desktop and then into itunes.
Quick, wireless, and no sync required. I did this for one voice memo of a conference that got stuck on the phone, i.e., it wouldn't sync in itunes, and it also wouldn't play from with the voice memo app on my phone.

Iphone Voice Memo Sync Solved?

Recently got an Iphone 3GS. Couldn't get the iphone voice memos to sync to Itunes, except once by trimming the memo and that seemed a fluke. I didn't want to go through the steps of consolidating my itunes library which has worked for some, as I didn't want all that duplication going on. I found that once the Iphone is connected, there is ANOTHER box that needs to be checked that Apple has not mentioned as far as I know: The name of your iPhone in the Artists box.
1. Connect Iphone to computer. Note that I do not automatically sync my Itunes or iphone but manual only; others may differ.
2. At the top of the Summary page, select the Music tab which opens the music page, at the top of which is a box that you check called Sync Music. (That 'sync music' is just a setting, not the 'sync' button at the bottom that actually syncs.)
I make sure that under that the 'selected playlists artists albums and genres' is selected, then below that is checked the 'include voice memos'...
3. Under that you should see a list of categories playlists, artists, etc. You can check the box 'Voice Memo' under Playlists, but don't know if this is crucial. There is another Voice Memos box under 'Genre' which you can click but also don't know if it's crucial.
4. Most importantly, go to the Artists list, scroll down and find the name you use for your Iphone. THAT'S the box that seems most important. Then with all those boxes checked the computer may request you to hit the 'apply' button at bottom right for those changes, then click the Synch button on the bottom right of the page and all voice memos go from iphone to iTunes.
To get them out of Itunes for backup go to the left hand column in the Itunes window where it says 'PLAYLISTS' (not the playlists on the music page, but the heading in the left hand column usually below the 'STORE' and 'DEVICES' headings.) This PLAYLISTS heading shows the iTunes folders on your computer, not your iphone, scroll down and through the playlists until you come to 'Voice Memos'. Open that and then you can drag the voice memos onto your desktop like any other itunes file. (If you mistakenly open the Voice Memos folder under the Devices heading, that's your Iphone, and you will not be able to drag those files onto your desktop. Ideally disconnect your iphone before doing this.)
I would like to know if this works for other than the two MacBook Pros I tried it on; note that this presumes your iphone name will show up in the Artists list; if not that may be another problem.

IPhone 4s running on ios 7.0.4 voice recorder

I have been using my iPhone on ios 6 for over a year and the voice recorder had no problems. After I updated my iPhone to ios 7 (I am currently using 7.0.4), the voice recorder showed 3 problems. First of all, it sometimes stops recording alone although I have more than 25 gb available in the memory. It also displays some of the recordings' durations as 00:00 and doesn't want to play them even though they take up part of the memory. The third problem happens when I'm listening to a recording and i try to unlock the phone for some reason. The recording stops playing alone. The ios 7 voice recorder is really disappointing and I have to use the recorder frequently. Any help? If I can't solve these problems, is there a way I can get the ios 6 voice recorder back??

It will show up depending upon the carrier. Many carriers do not allow the settings to be cganged so the settings will not appear.

When sending voice recording in iMessage to another iPhone in IOS 8 they just get a ? mark.

Trying to send a voice recording in iMessage but my friend only gets a box with ? Mark in it. He can send voice to me okay. Both of us have IOS8 on iPhone 5S. Anyone haveing this Problem?

I just had to Reboot my iPhone and then it started sending voice recordings. Not sure why that did it but all is good now.

Thanks for the response! I use Display Record with various sound/video themes and would like to include them in my presentations. For what it's worth, I will make a suggestion to Apple, to make the muting of sounds, during recording a user preference/setting.

Wish list: Voice recorder & address book

I would love to have a built-in voice recorder for recording memos. Doesn't seem that hard to do.
I would also love to have an icon for the address book, a la OS X, instead of having to go through the phone icon.
How about BlueTooth syncing?
What other things would people like to see added?

IPod Touch for Voice Recording. Any Thoughts?

I have an iPod Touch and I love it. I am wondering if anyone has experience with using it as a voice recorder. I understand that I would have to buy a microphone adaptor, so I'd like to hear recommendations on which to buy. I will be using it to record lectures at college in relatively small rooms. I had used an Olympus digital voice recorder every semester until now. However I've lost it and before I buy a new one, I wanted to see if maybe I could add another use to my iPod Touch. The most important thing is that I can transfer the recordings to my computer as I like archive all lectures and labs.
To summarize my questions:
1. Is this even a good idea? Does anyone have experience doing this or something similar?
2. What microphone adaptor would you recommend?
3. What program(s) will be needed?
4. Any other input is more than welcome.

Heck yeah! I use mine all the time for recording voice memos! The built in app works perfectly fine for me although there are most likely tons on the app store. In terms of what mic to get, It doesn't matter as long as it is the 'passthrough' kind. Not that it has to have a headphone jack on it, but it has to have the 4 connectors on the male end that plugs into your iDevice. You can buy little tiny 'stub' microphones all over on ebay that will fit perfectly with little footprint, DOWNSIDE to those is that you can't plug in a pair of headphones at the same time (unless you're using the iPhone earbuds that have a built in mic, that kinda thing) Hope this helped! have fun!

I have a very long file that was recorded in the Voice Recording App on my Iphone, and I am trying to upload it to my Itunes. How is this accomplished? Has anyone done this before?

Sharing voice memos with your computer
Sync voice memos with iTunes: Connect iPhone to your computer, then in iTunes select iPhone.
Select Music at the top of the screen (between Apps and Movies),
select Sync Music, select “Include voice memos,” and click Apply.
Voice memos synced from iPhone to your computer appear in the Music list and in the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes.
Memos synced from your computer appear in the Voice Memos app on iPhone, but not in the Music app.
