IPhone won't exit headphone mode

My iPhone won't exit headphone mode. When I hit the volume +/- it says Headphones, but they aren't plugged in. Please help. I have no sound here! Thanks.

Plug your device into iTunes and restore it to its last backup.

  • IPhone won't exit recovery mode/ keeps saying "connect to iTunes"

I recently updated my iPhone 6 plus to iOS 8.2 everything was going fine, I was able to download the new iOS. I was updating the phone when suddenly iTunes informed me that I had to restore the phone in order for it to be updated. I gladly did. And then after a while, iTunes informed me again that the device could not be found (or something like that, "like the computer can't find the iPhone"). And it went into recovery mode. It just kept showing "connect to iTunes" on the screen. I have tried restaring and reseting the phone but it comes back to the "connect to iTunes" (even though it is connected) and when I try to restore it again, the same thing happens. It's stuck in recovery mode and I can't use the phone. What should I do?
A friend of mine told me that I should not have updated to iOS 8.2 right away because it still has some bugs (?). And that this is the reason why I couldn't get past the recovery mode. Is this true? Any insight would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Ooops sorry about that. It must've been 8.1.2 then? I honestly don't remember.. I wasn't paying attention when I updated since I regularly do it for my iPad, other phones. Anyway, whatever is the latest version of the iOS, it got me stuck in recovery mode.
really sorry about the 8.2 Info

  • How do I get my iphone 4 out of headphone mode?

My iphone 4 is in headphone mode. I did not make this change. I have turned my phone on and off several times, I have inserted headphones into the jack several times and I blew compressed air into the jack. Any suggestions would be welcome! Thanks

try inserting and removing the regular ear buds 7 or 8 times
    or
    1. Put the iPhone into iPod mode with headphones in and start playback.
    2. Stop playback and exit iPod mode.
    3. Remove headphones.

  • New iphone 5 stuck in headphone mode.

I can't hear the caller on the other line and speakers won't work. When I turn the volume up or down using side buttons, display shows "ringer (headphones)". How do I fix this?

  • Why is my iPhone 4S still in headphone mode even though i have my headphones out of the 3.5mm jack?(iOS 6.1)

    The reason why this is, is because you either have the "change sounds with buttons" setting ON or, you have installed either a faulty version of iOS 6.1 or a version which has an extremely massive bug in it. You can, however, get it out of headphone mode by following these steps;
Step 1: Check if your "change with sounds with buttons" setting is off.
Step 2: if step 1 is as said, go onto iTunes and go to "restore".(This WILL delete all of you devices data but if you have it backed up on iCloud or on iTunes so you dont need to panic.
If all of those steps seem to not be the case, contact your nearest apple store or phone their hotline.
I hope this helped some people in distress.

Briansyddal - you might be able to manage your phone without a PC, but many of us can't, especially those of us with large iTunes libraries.  How do you propose I manage my 250GB of music using only a phone?  Maybe I could go out and buy 10 iPhones and spread my library out among them!
Catz537 - I have the same problem as you and I've spent hours on the web trying to find a solution to it.  It was a problem with iOS 7 and  8.1.1 doesn't fix it.  The the only advice from Apple is completely useless because it requires you, effectively, to delete and recreate your iTunes library and lose all your metadata, album art, notes etc and there's also no guarantee it will work.   I wish I could be more help (even more - I wish Apple could be more help) - I updated to 8.1.1 at 1400 today.  At 2200 I'm still "waiting for changes to be applied" for a measly 16GB of music transfer.

  • Iphone 4s stuck in headphones mode

    Hi
i have iphone 4s and i have problem with it
i have stuck in headphones mode
can anybody help me about that and thank you very much

There's an Apple article about this here -> iPhone: Can't hear through the receiver or speakers
You might be able to fix it by spraying compressed air into the jack, to try and get whatever is in there out.

  • Iphone 5 stuck in headphone mode

My iphone 5 purchased on its release got stuck in headphone mode. Though I have never used headphone on my iphone. I have tried keeping in firdge for a min, plug in pplug out headphone jack, reset all settings but no use.
    PLease help me!

Are you connected to wifi? And do you have an airplay device in your house or where you are at?
First thing to try is plugging headphones in the jack and then back out to see if that works.
Check the jack to see if there is anything in the jack that may be causing to be stuck in headphone mode.
Let me know know if none of these work and maybe we can try other things. Try also turning off the phone and back on too.

  • IPhone 5s stuck in headphone mode

So when I tried to listen to some music at lunch today there and wasn't any sound coming from the speakers. I found out the phone was stuck in headphone mode. I've tried everything; from Q tips to blowing air into the audio jack but nothing seems to work. When listening to music the sound is much louder in my right ear than the left and I can hear crackling and barely noticeable static (tested with two pairs of headphones). What should I do, should I take it to a Genius Stand and pay a ridiculous amount to get it fixed or wait it out and hope it fixes itself.

    Hello Toronto 61,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
There are still some troubleshooting steps to go through before it's isolated to being a hardware issue.  The troubleshooting steps can be found in the following article:

  • Anyone have problem with Iphone 6 not detecting headphone mode after updating of IOS 8.1.2?

    Hi there,
After I have updated to the latest IOS 8.1.2, I have no issue so far except for unable to detect my earphone as no sound can be heard from my earpiece, and the music coming out of the speaker instead. Has anyone faced similar problem so far after upgrading to IOS 8.1.2?

In order to fix this issue do the following:
If you look closely Inside the Headphone port there are these tiny little metal screw Balls which get pushed
in when you insert the Headphones.
The phone gets stuck in headphone mode (if in an event when these tiny little metal screws are pushed in).
To cut the long story short , all you need to do is push these metal balls screws in and out.
Simplest way to do so is to insert you headphone into the port and twist it around a bit or a use a pin/tiny screw that could help push these metal balls in and out.
This should fix the issue. (Primarily what we end up doing is reset the metal balls into a release position).
    Hope this helps

  • Iphone 4 stuck in headphone mode

Iphone is stuck in headphone mode

Up & Down buttons on the side show "headphones" when it should say "ringer"
iphone thinks headphones are in the jack (even though they aren't).  I just had this problem today and was able to fix it by putting my ear buds in several times and pulling them back out.  Then I used a can of compressed air to blow out the headphone jack.  Took a couple times, but it's back to allowing me to hear my callers.

  • IPhone 6 stuck in headphone mode

I woke up this morning to find that the speaker no longer works properly. If someone calls me I can hear that sound with no headphones, but if I try to play music or something through the speaker it doesn't work. If I try to change the volume while headphones are not in, the phone still changes the headphone volume. I can hear everything fine when I put in headphones. I'm away at school and I'm nowhere close to an apple store, are there any know fixes to get it out of headphone mode? I already tried turning it off/on and cleaning out the jack.

Basic Troubleshooting Steps when all else fails
    - Quit the App by opening multi-tasking bar, and swiping the App upward to make it disappear.  (For iOS 6 older, hold down the icon for the App for about 3-5 seconds, and then tap the red circle with the white minus sign.)
    - Relaunch the App and try again.
    - Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    - Reset the device. (Same article as above.)
    - Reset All Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)
    - Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
    - Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137  For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
    - Test the issue after each step.  If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem.

  • IPhone 4 won't exit recovery mode

Error 14. Tried updating iTunes, MacBook, used different ports and cords. Also tried in guest account. It happen when I tried to update to iOS 7.0.3, but the update stopped half way through and won't do anything now. I've tried deleting the update data and re-downloading it but didn't help so I'm assuming hardware problem..
    Advice?

Sounds to me like it was probably jailbroken. Do you know if it was? If so, try to get your money back as it will most likely never work again.

  • My iPhone is stuck on headphone mode, and won't come off. I have tried turning it on and off, hard resets and putting head phones in and out. Any suggestions?

    help please

    - if there is lint in the head phone jack that will cause the phone to think headphones are in there, use compressed air to blow out the jack, if the problem persists, then call 800.my.apple and if the phone is under warrenty they can help you.

  • Computer freezes when pressure is applied and also won't exit sleep mode

I have a macbook pro mid 2010 with an i7 at 2.66 GHz, 8 Gb of RAM,  a 500 Gb seagate hybrid drive and is running on 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion). The RAM and harddrive were installed by me a couple years ago and I generally haven't had any issues with them (I did try to install 10.8.6 but ended up reverting back to 10.8.5 via time machine). When I put pressue on the bottom of the base my computer instantly freezes, the display will  do some funky nonsense stuff (not every time) and sometimes followed by 3 beeps (also does not happen every time). I know the 3 beeps often indicates a RAM issue, so I installed the software "memtest" and all my RAM passed. Also, when my computer goes to sleep by shutting the lid of the laptop, it frequently won't come out of sleep and the sleep mode light is stuck on. When it's stuck in sleep mode, the fans turn on and the battery starts running pretty hot. I've tried resetting the PRAM, NVRAM and SMC via this tutorial: http://www.maclife.com/article/howtos/how_fix_mac_won%E2%80%99t_wake  . I'm unsure of what steps to take next, and if the problem is a software issue, logic board or RAM issue.
