IPhoto 11 - Lost Video's

Just made a smart album for all my video's. 180 items: 144 photos and 36 videos,
My question is why are their not 180 video's.
- The thumbnail when clicked goes to the exclamation mark, with the face tag.
- The items date and file size seem correct.
- The files type however is RAW and i never shot in RAW - and im pretty sure you cant shoot video's in RAW.
- This seems to have occurred for any video older than 24 months, and with various camera's and phones.
Is this a Snow leopard issue, Lion issue, or Iphoto issue?
Can it be fixed?

The exclamation mark is an indication that iPhoto has broken the link/file path to the original file. Therefore try the following:
If you have the space available on your hard drive and don't aready have a backup copy of the library make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Commadn+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Photo Stream then reselect it.
Now for your music. Launch iTunes. From the iTunes menu bar top of your screen click iTunes > Preferences then select the Store tab.

iCloud syncs via your Wi-Fi network so give it a minute or two to reset your photos and music.

How can I restore lost videos ????

How can I restore lost videos from about 6 months ago that were sent to me via a message? I tried Itunes backup and it did not bring them back. Very important videos that were lost during an update. HELP!! and thanks!

It was my grandson who lost my videos..supposedly it happened when he was handling and update on my phone. Since then, the videos that my friend messaged to me last summer are gone. I did a backup today that should have included them, but they are still not to be found. And, of course, I really need them and to remake them will cost me a lot of money. Thank you for your help...maybe I am just doing something wrong when I do the backup. Should I use any certain program that will work better than Itunes?

I just ran an Apple software update and lost video in my Final Cut 7 running on OS 10.6.8. It is indicating a codec problem. Any ideas on how to fix this?

what happens if you create a new apple prores 422 sequence and drop bars and tone into it.
Does it display correctly? If so, I'd assume the the prores codecs are ok.
Not sure I"ve worked with hdv2 material. You may need to reinstall your os and fcp and not do the latest software update. People have definitely reported problems with hdv material after the update. Maybe someone will speak up with an alternative solution.

Iphoto lost my original files

I have several folders in iPhoto, the one in question, I have opened several times, and have edited some photos. For reason unknown, I tried to open, and enlarge a photo to full screen image to view it, and I suddenly could not. I got a warning that iPhoto could not locate the original file. I neither deleted or anything else with these files other than some editing, they are recent pics.I can still share the pics in iPhoto, but can no longer open the files to full image to view. My concern is that iPhoto lost my originals, and it could happen to my other folders. I did backup my photos, but when I redownload to iPhoto, I get the same warning of "original files lost"? What can I do to fing the originals on my MAC book, and how to prevent in the future?

Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

Any Programs In The AppStore that recover lost Videos from iPhone?

I need an app that recovers lost videos from my iphone. It cannot be from iTunes backup file, but from the actual phone. I downloaded Wondershare but it doesn't seem to work. It does not matter that it's not from the App Store, just any program that will do the trick.

Why not post in the iPhone forum? Although it would seem that if it's not in an iTunes backup file or in the Cloud then it's gone.

Iphoto lost library

My Iphoto lost the connection to the library. Suddenly I can only see iclouds pictures and imagines of the other happening maps.
Can somebody support me what to do. Theire are approx 8000 picture. In the finder the iphoto library tells that their are 60 Gb, but I can´t connect to them.

Simple solution is to restore from your back up.
However, I've never heard of any error message that says your entire iPhoto Library no longer exists. Can you give us the exact wording you get?

Import iPhoto Flip video - not showing.

Running iMovie 09. iPhoto '11 (9.1.5). Imported video from Flip into iPhoto. Video not showing in iMovie. Is this a format issue? Is there a workaround?

Make sure that if the Flip came with a disk or software to be installed, that you run the installer. I've got a first gen. Flip mino that requires something called a 'codec' to be installed before the video clips can playback. In my case it's a piece of software from a company called 3ivx.

Lost videos in iPhoto during transfer when computer crashed??

I was transferring videos from my iphone 4s to my Powerbook G4 and by default it transfers to my iPhoto account. A prompt came up that the photos (and videos) were transferred sucessfully and asked me if I wanted to keep or delete the photos from my phone. I chose to delete the photos from my phone to make room. In the process of deleting the data from my phone, the computer crashed. When I opened iphoto again the vidoes and pictures that I thought were successfully transfered were no longer there. Please tell me that there is a way to recover this imformation, because it is no longer showing up on my phone and I've checked the trash in iPhoto and on my Mac and nothing is there. I've searched and searched iPhoto and it's definitely not there. This was footage just recorded and no backup on the phone or the computer was recently backed up. Please help.

Lost videos in iPhoto when upgraded to OS X Lion

When I upgraded to OS X Lion, all my videos were removded from iPhoto, and had been moved to iMovie. At least I think they are all in iMovie, I actually don't know as there were several videos imbedded in different 'events' in iPhoto.
How do I make it so I can continue to store videos in iPhoto?

From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences. ( I did )
Click Spotlight. ( I did )
Click the Privacy tab. ( I did )
Drag a folder or an entire volume (your hard drive) to the list. ( I don't find any folder from my hard disk.
If prompted for confirmation, click OK. ( I can't go further than that... )
Remove the item or volume you just added to the list by clicking it and then clicking the minus ("-") button.
Close Spotlight preferences.
Spotlight will re-index the contents of the folder or volume.

Lost video option on camera

I lost the video button on the camera page to record a video. I've tried to upload the pictures/videos into iTunes & cannot get the folder to transfer. I have 2 folders of pics & I've got the 1st folder transferred over. I've also cleaned up pics & apps trying to free up space. Any suggestions?

Pics taken with iphone are not part of the sync process. You import them as you would from any digital camera ( camera and scanner wizard/iphoto/etc.)

Why won't iPhoto import videos from iPhone 6 Plus?

iPhoto on iMac will not import the videos from my iPhone 6Plus. It says there is an error, and it doesn't recognize the format. That makes no sense. Both are brand new apple products. Now all my videos on my iPhone are "white" pictures. On the computer there is a standard icon for each video that won't open. What is happening? Have I lost these videos (22 of them). How could this be?
