IPhoto 11 won't print photos as cropped

I have an album of photos that I've cropped to specific sizes to fit a collage frame.  iPhoto will not print the photos as I've cropped them.  It insists on scaling (and often re-cropping) them to fit the paper I'm printing on.  How do I force iPhoto to print them as cropped?
Setting a photo size doesn't work because then iPhoto zooms in on the already cropped photo and re-crops.  It also a pain, because then I'd have to print the photos in batches, being sure that I selected all the photos I cropped to a specific size for each batch.
Ray

First crop your photo to 3x3:
In the Print window select the paper size (in this example it's 4x6) and a custom print size of 3x3. This is what you'll get, a 3x3 photo on a 4x6 paper size.  You can select any paper size you'd like:
If you select a large paper size you can print multiple 3x3 photos on the same page:

iphoto won't share photos by email, share file won't open. what do I do?

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Iphoto won't print.  Never had a problem before.

iphoto won't print.  I get the spinning wheel.  Repaired disk thinks I have Epson...?  I have HD and a Canon.  Can you help me?

Go to the System/Printers & Scanners preference pane and remove the printerd that str there.  Then add it back and try again. If that fails try what's discussed in this Apple document:   OS X Yosemite: Reset the printing system

  • Iphoto won't display photos or run a slideshow. Thumbnails all OK etc. Tried rebuilding library and reset Mac Air but no result.  Ideas please!!!!

Iphoto won't display photos or run a slideshow - just a black screen. Can't see photos to edit etc. Thumbnails all OK and all else seems visible in the usual way etc. Tried rebuilding library and reset Mac Air but no result.  Ideas please!!!!

and was told to go home and rebuild the photo library (there are 2257 photos). Did this but problem is still there.
When you rebuild the library did you rebuild the database?  Also did you repair the library's permissions? Is this the First Aid window that you got?
Those are the two options to use.
Here's another fix you can try:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.>Click on the Add Library button,
2 -  select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
3 - make sure that in the rebuild window the checkbox  "Scavange orphaned photos" is checked.
4 - now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
5 - in the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed. Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2:  Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
You'll have to recreate your slideshow after using this method.

  • IPhoto won't download photos from camera.

iPhoto won't download photos from camera. iMac 10.6.8; iPhoto updated. No Name comes up, says "downloading," but color wheel only goes round and round. I've let it go on for 20" to no avail. Only way to get out of iPhoto then is to Force Quit. Tried downloading pictures through a Card Reader with same results.
Same camera, same procedure for last 5 years and never had this problem. Thanks for any advice.

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder:
    User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

  • IPhoto won't print

This issue began a more major problem in which all of my wife's pictures disappeared. That's been solved, and the pictures are back. In order to keep that thread from becoming too long and complicated I'm reposting in this new thread the original problem.
A couple of days ago my wife did the automatic update to iPhoto 6.0.6. Following that it ceased printing on our Epson Stylus CX4200. Other programs print normally; it is only iPhoto that has a problem. I have downloaded all the latest drivers from Epson, but it hasn't helped. My own two computers also won't print from iPhoto, though I haven't updated their drivers.
    I just identified that it will print 8.5 x 11 paper, but it won't print 4 x 6 photos.
    iMac G4 + PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I didn't get any replies to this problem, but eventually I was able to figure out the fix. I'll post it here in case someone else runs into this problem.
The printer instruction manual (PDF file) explains how to delete the printer drivers and reinstall. It also explains how to delete and reinstall the program that controls the scanning function (that had also quit working). When I got through deleting and reinstalling everything worked again.
Downloading updated drivers from the company that made the printer often fixes this kind of problem, but not in this case. Reinstalling the older drivers that came with the printer did the trick.

  • Lost power to external HD; Now iPhoto won't show photos

    Hi all,
This is a really easy one. I store all my photo from iPhoto '08 (Version 7.1.5) on an external HD. I accidentally disconnected the power to my external HD and now iPhoto won't load the photos. It created some kind of default folder where there are just 2 photos in it.
How do I tell iPhoto to point to the files on my external HD?
    Thanks

Eject the drive, choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, provide /Volumes/ as the path, move any folders inside to the desktop or Trash as desired, and reconnect the drive.

  • IPhoto won't import photos from new 70D

Hi - I'm hoping for some guidance. I was a Rebel Xsi user for years, and just got a 70D. I used to be able to plug my camera in and iphoto would open up and import everything. Now, it only works sporadically, which is even weirder than not working at all. Right now I have 100+ photos from two important events sitting on my memory card that iphoto won't recognize. It imported about a dozen photos I took today without a problem, though. The photos are viewable from the camera. I can't recall changing any settings between taking those photos and the ones I took today. It doesn't make a difference if I plug the SD card directly into my computer; the software is still not recognizing any of the photos that are on the card. Any ideas?
    Using:
    Canon EOS70D
    Macbook Pro with iPhoto '09

Note that on a 70D the WiFi feature must be disabled in order to transfer images to your computer via USB method.
This only applies to the cameras that have WiFi (70D & 6D).
Also, if you do shoot in RAW format, then you'll need to make sure your computer is updated with the latest Camera RAW Updates from Apple.  This only applies to RAW... not JPEG.  Also I noticed you mentioned iPhoto '09 ... which is rather old and made me wonder if your version of OS X might also be old.  Apples Camera RAW updates are provided at the operating system level (because the same Camera RAW update is shared by Finder, Preview, iPhoto, Aperture, and anything else that might need to decode a RAW file.  My point for mentioning this is that if your OS version is too old then Apple may no longer be providing updates.  In that case you'd need to updgrade the OS (but Apple gives their OS upgrades away -- they don't charge for them.)

  • IPhoto won't import photos from iPhone

Hi - using a MBP 2.2, Leopard, iLife 08 and an 8gb iPhone. iPhoto used to import photos from the iPhone no problem - now it won't import it at all. Says it's an unreadable file (though a normal jpg).
What gives? Same issue trying to import two jpg's rec'd via email (and dragged to my desktop).
    Any suggestions?

I have this problem now. I have MacOS 10.5.1, iPhoto '08, and iPhone running 1.1.2.
In my "camera roll" on the iPhone are 260 photos, all the pics I have taken since I got the phone. I imported some of them weeks ago with no problems into iPhoto. But now iPhoto can't import anything from the iPhone.
iPhoto does know there are photos on the phone, because there is set of blank thumbnail squares that I can select to import. When I look at the photo info, I can see the file name, size, date, but all the other info is missing or incorrect. It doesn't have camera maker or model. Most worrying though is the height and width of the pictures are zero.
I am thinking that there is some cache file on the phone that got corrupted somehow. Resetting to factory settings might help, but I really don't want to lose all the photos that I took from the holidays.
I've tried the above suggestions and no avail: logged out and into the .Mac account; powered down the phone; reset the iSync history (interestingly, iSync does not recognize my phone when I do a device scan).
I did try removing some stuff to make room, but still no dice.

iphoto won't start because I need Library Upgrader? where can I get I as don't have the original disc.

Sounds like you have a damaged library7  To check launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and try to create a test library. If you can import a few photos.  If that works then your original library is damaged so make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the three fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - delete  the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #3
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • IPhoto won't keep photos in the relevant album

    iMac 2011, iPhoto'11 Version 9.5.1, OS 10.9.4
What I successfully used to do: Launch iPhoto; Open a newly created album on the left of its big window; Drag a photo (jpg or tiff) from a system folder on the Desktop on to that iPhoto big window; It appears. I can then switch to another iPhoto album and back again to the newly created iPhoto album and the new photo re-appears as expected.
What happens now: I do the above but when I switch to another iPhoto album and back againback to the newly created iPhoto album (as described above), the photo is missing in iPhoto's big window. I find the missing photo in iPhoto > Recent > Last Import. If I drag it from Last Import on to the newly created iPhoto album (on the left of iPhoto's big window), a new sub-folder is created "untitled album 2" and selected and the image appears in iPhoto's big window. The new photo also appears in iPhoto > Library > Events and Photos. If I delete the new photo from Events and Photos (Delete then CNTRL + click on Trash), it disappears from there but is still in the "untitled album 2" (above). All this is weird behaviour.
If instead I open an already existing iPhoto folder which contains other photos, and drag the same photo into its big window, it is added to that folder in the usual way, with no need to drag it from Last Import and "untitled album 2" is not created created.
Something is seriously wrong here. The App Store says that Version 9.5.1 is the current version.
How can I return to doing what I successfully used to do for many years as described above?
    Thanks for any help.

I think I have found the answer. What I had done was to create a FOLDER "Summer Holiday 2014" and a sub-FOLDER "Seaside" and a sub-FOLDER in that for my photos. That was the way that did not work.
I have just created an ALBUM "Summer Holiday 2014" and a sub-ALBUM "Seaside". This seems to work.
But suppose I want to create the following hierarchy:
    Heading
                   Sub heading
                        Sub-sub heading 1
                             Photos
                        Sub-sub heading 2
                             Photos
Which of these four items in bold should be created as folders and which albums?
Here is an image of the above layout in case the indentation did not work:

  • HP Envy 7640 won't print photos from photo tray using MacBook Pro

My new HP Envy 7640 will not print photo's from the photo tray. The photo tray option is not highlighted to choose it. I have restarted both the HP and MacPro several time. What am I missing?

    Hello @MEMEF,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to work with you today with resolving the Photo Tray printing option issue that you're experiencing when printing from your Mac OS X computer to your HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer. Due to the lack of Photo Tray options there is a chance that your HP Envy print driver is not being properly utilized on the Mac Computer. However, in order for me to provide you with accurate support on the Mac I do need to confirm what version of the Mac Operating System you're using?
In the meantime, I am going to have you check on your Mac to ensure that the HP Envy driver is selected and not the Apple AirPrint driver. The AirPrint driver is a generic driver offered by Apple to allow for basic printing ability. Because it is not a Full Feature driver that comes with your printer you may not have all the printing features that you should have on your printer. To check the driver please follow the steps below.
    1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
    2. Click Print & Scan, and then check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list.
    3. If your printer is already listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm communication with the Mac. Click the name of your printer, click the minus sign (), and then delete the printer
    4. Click the plus sign (), click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer
    5. Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Ensure that you have the HP Envy driver selected and not the AirPrint.
    6. Click Add to add the printer to the list.
    - Source
The options may differ on your Mac if you're running an earlier Operating System.
Once the correct driver has been verified as added in, please try printing to your Photo Tray again.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Should the issue persist, be sure to include your Operating System in your next post. Best of luck!

  • IPhoto won't save photos after using crop feature...

Okay, I don't understand if I am doing something wrong or what, but I am trying to crop and iPhoto doesn't save the pics.
This is what I am doing...I open a picture in iPhoto, click the 'crop' button, then drag the borders where I want it to crop, then I click 'done.' The 'saving changes' box with the blue & white progress bar never pops upadn ,it just shoots me back to the thumbnail screen. When I look at the file, nothing has been cropped, and I even reopen the file, and again, nothing cropped.
If I open a picture and use the 'effects' button and make changes, it saves with no problem. It just doesn't want to save any crops.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Sportscrazed33:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You have to hit the crop button after selecting the area to crop. If you're cropping to a predetermined ratio that's in the Constrain menu it will automatically select an area to crop that you can then adjust. You don't need to hit the Crop button before selecting the area. Then hit the Done button. It's not intuitive but that's the way it is.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Iphoto won't import photos from CD

Hi all! I am sure this is because we are new to this, but we cannot seem to get any photos imported to our iphoto library from photo cds. According to our iphoto book we bought and the manual we printed from here, it should be the easiest thing to do.
We have imported pictures from our camera, works just great, pops right up. When we put in any photo cd's, we have tried 3 different ones at this point, iphoto doesn't pop up and doesn't even seem to realize there is a photo cd in there. It would seem like the drive isn't reading them or something, but store bought dvd's and music cds work just fine. I even tried going into the disk utility and it will show pioneer dvd or kodak cd, whatever we put in there, but won't open or do anything from there.
We currently have 284 pictures in our library, and those were imported directly from our camera. We have Tiger, ilife 05 and we use an imac.
I hope I didn't miss anything, I would so appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Also, what do you mean by drag the photos to the iphoto window, I can't get them to come up anywhere where I could even tell that they are photos,so I am not sure how to drag them?
    David,
This presumed the CD would mount on the Desktop and could be opened by double clicking on it to reveal the folders and photos inside.
The problem here is with the CD or the drive. But since the drive works with other discs I suspect the CD. I don't know why the Mac won't acknowledge that a CD has been inserted.
