IPhoto 6 has become corrupt and I have lost 50 amended images

This is my second post re a major/ serious corruption issue I have with iPhoto 6
Within my library I have 50 images that have had multi amendments made and each amendment has been saved as an image revision (e.g. Image6 when 6 changes had been made)
I came to use some imges this week and found that the thumbnails in the relevant iPhoto6 folder show the correct 'amended' image - however on clicking the very original photo appears (e.g. image 1)
This is a serious issue as I sell these images as my business
I have back ups but im still confused how this has happened (I have not used revert to original at any time)
My apple specialist has tried a rebuild but the problem remains
Its not on all images
Any ideas? Anyone know a UK based iPhoto speciliast available for hire?

Since iPhoto does not have either a save or a save as capability it is important that you describe how you did the amendments and how you created the revised images - e. g. image1 to image6
In iPhoto all edits are applied to the image and the name remains - the only possibly way to accomplish what you say using iPhoto alone is to duplicate and rename the image prior to editing and then it is impossible for iPhoto to link the duplicated & renamed image back to the original image - as far as iPhoto is concerned both (or all 7 in your example) images are separate and have no relationship to each other

Saying the file for my Iphoto app has become corrupted. Never backed up the file, So now what?

Every time I try to open up my IPhoto app I keep getting a pop up message saying the file for my iPhoto app has become corrupted and needs to be restored from back-up. The problem is I never backed it up. and if by slim chance I did but can't remember for some reason I can't find the back-up file on my Mac Book pro. Any recommendations as to how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

This is a good lesson for all of us. Having only one sets of files without a backup is a ticket to disaster. I know several folks who lost all of their photo library when the hard disk on their computer died. It's shame. Those files that are important to you should be saved in at least one different location than just on your computers hard drive. Its even better to keep two backups.

IPhoto 11 Library was corrupted and photobook is lost

Hi there, I have encountered various issues with my iphoto. I have attempted to resolve it and I believe I have created a bigger mess.
Problems:
1. many photos in "events" and "photobook" when clicked did not connect to photo for editing, it simply showed a large black screen with the warning symbol (I believe this was caused by my own mistake of moving around photos in the iphoto library when I went to "reveal in finder" . My lesson learned: do not move photos in iphoto library!)
2. I attempted to remedy this problem by following the instructions I found on various posts here. I have downloaded the iPhoto manager, created a new library etc. However, after many unsuccessful attempts, I have simply restored my iPhoto to a backup from Jan. The problem now is that this is just prior to my installing iPhoto 11. So the photobook, I has spent hours on is now lost.
3. I have attempted to go to a newer version of the backup from TM. But I think I am also encountering a full startup disk. (as I only now have 10.65GB available).
Possible Solutions?
I have a 2TB external hard drive and a 1TB drive for my TM. I am considering moving TM to the larger drive and then moving iPhoto to the 1TB drive. However, before I get myself into any more messes, I am seeking your advice.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
But I think I am also encountering a full startup disk. (as I only now have 10.65GB available).
This is a major issue. OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on. Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially. Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do. Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
To move the iPhoto Library:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

Apple Id has become corrupt and I can't fix it

One of my Apple Ids is demanding a password and the one I have always used doesn't work any more. I suspect it has been hacked because when I try to fix it I can't get past the security questions as it won't recognise my birth date. Moreover, when I ask to reset the security via email, I never receive an email so it looks like the password, birth date and email address have all been changed.
When I say 'one of my Apple Ids' I mean this is an old one that I first set up when I got an iTunes account, before I got either my Mac or my iphone. The account ID is an email address and to make things easier I'll call it by its short name of Lyonnesse. When I finally went Apple I couldn't log on to the account and set up a new one in my proper name - Helen for short - using a gmail account
My iphone is syncing to icloud using Helen and any photos I take on the phone have been finding their way onto my Mac, and into iphoto, but iphoto is now showing I have an issue with my icloud account - it tells me to check my settings. Opening icloud in my system preferences shows me that Lyonnesse is the icloud account. It won't let me change this without the password. I tried to add Helen to the list by pressing the plus sign in the bottom left of the list but when I saved it, i got a message saying it was already logged in.
I genuinely don't know where to go next with this. I'd ideally like to lose lyonnesse and just use Helen, but if I try to sign out of lyonnesse it says "Are you sure you want to turn off iCloud Photos? Photos that have not been imported will be deleted from this computer". I have to say, I find this immensely confusing. From where I sit, if they've not been imported they can't be deleted
How can I get back control of the lyonnesse account? There doesn't seem to be any help available from Apple. The Mac is outside its guarantee period so I can't get a call with a human being

Since have completely lost control of that Apple ID and neither recovery email nor security questions are working any more, you need to give Apple Support a call - only they will be able to help you. How do I fix the App Store app in mountain lion which has become corrupted and won't update!

In Finder hold down the option/alt key while selecting the Go menu item. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you want to make your user library permanently visible, run the below command in Applications/Terminal.
chflags nohidden ~/Library/
You will need to do that after any updates.

I have just installed an up date (OSX 10.8.5) and mail has gone made and I have lost emails.

Publisher Content Item has become corrupt

I am a newbie here.
I have Publisher 6.5. I have a content item that has become corrupt and is not editable any longer. However it can be accessed i.e seen on portal pages.
We have decided to delete this content item and recreate it again. However the problem is, this content item is used by multiple portlets. If we delete the content item then the connection with other portlets will get broken, I guess.
How best can I recreate the content item and how should I rejoin it to the broken portlets

Could you be more descriptive about what you mean by "corrupt"?

It's probably the library that's the prolem and not the application. Try this: launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If you can create and open a new library then your existing library is damaged.
If that's the case, Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

I was trying to move iphoto library to my external hardrive, realised it was incompatible with Mac. The iphoto will not open now, message is "Iphoto library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable". I have read other posts.

I was trying to save a copy of my iphoto library by copying images to my external harddrive. I wasn't sure how to do it, realised the hard drive is not compatible. Now the iphoto library wont open and reads "iphoto library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable".
I have tried to use options command and click on iphoto then rebuild yet nothing happens and same error message occurs.
I have gone to my personal drive, desktop, iphoto library, and found file Albumdata.xml and when i click on it, there is a lot of text in it, i am assuming these are all my photos.
I have tried clicking and dragging this file to iphoto app and it doesn't work, as the same error comes up in iphoto being in use or unreadable....
What am I meant to do with albumdata.xml file and how do I reopen Iphoto from here on in?
Please help as I am not technically minded and still trying to understand how to use the Macbook at all as I am used to Microsoft.

Rule Number One - NEVER go directly uinto the iPhoto library - there are no user servicable parts in it and making any change no matter how small can corrupt your library and cause data or photo loss
Exactly how were you trying to save a copy of your iPhoto library?
Albumdata.xml does not contain your photos - and again NEVER make any changes to the content of the iPhoto library - no dragging - no changes - never go into the library
We need to know exactly what you did
And probalby the easiest solution is to load your backup from before you messed things up
For reference after you get things working
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

You could, but the error message is indicating that your iPhoto library needs repairing.
Check, if iPhoto will run, if you launch it on a new library. Hold down the alt/option key, while you launch iPhoto. Select to create a new library from the panel that will show. Can you create a new library? If yes, try again to fix the library. Which options have you tried from the Library First Aid panel, when you launched iPhoto with the option and command key held down?
If you have not tried "Rebuild"; do that next. But be sure to make a backup of your iPhoto library, before you try this.

I must have pressed some other key because the display has become huge - and I can't scroll vertically or horizontally, which makes using the Mail pages of Hotmail impossible. I have since logged in using MSFT Explorer and it works fine. This problem occurs only on the Mail page of Hotmail Live not on the home page or others.
Could you please let me know if this is a problem with Firefox, or if you have any advice on how to reset the appearance of Hotmail in Firefox?
