Iphoto 9.3 update installation loop on step5 99%.

Do you have a solution please?

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
If that fails:
Restore from your back up, repair the Library and try again

  • Endless Installation Loop...

    Hey,
So, I went and started up boot camp and installed Windows XP Pro (SP2), it said the installation was a success. However, when I restart my computer (without holding option), the screen goes black and boots into windows. Windows then says "PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE". When I do, it starts up the install prompt and does the whole thing over again. I have tried numerous partition types (NTFS, FAT32, Leaving it intact, etc.) with no success. Also, when I try holding option, the system ignores me and does its endless installation loop again. I have to hold 3 keys (I forgot what they are, but that's not important) just to get it to boot back into OS X.
So, what do I have to do in order to run Windows Successfully? I have also tried many different install disks, still with no success.
Do you think upgrading my Boot Camp Assistant will help?

The only boot camp assistant version is 2.0 for mac. Boot camp only updates to 2.1 on the windows side. You can try redownloading bootcamp assitant for mac or reinstall mac os again maybe something is wrong?

BDAqua saved me a lot of typing.   It wasn't clear, though, if you just needed to vent or if you're wanting to address these issues (which will involve a lot of typing).
One of the main ones you need to do before you do any installing or installing of Flash Player is deal with the disk that won't verify.  Basically you're working with a computer that doesn't know where all its files are.  The computer uses a directory to keep tack of them and your directory needs repairing.  If you don't repair it then you'll just end up losing files, and getting more problems with running the computer.  It's a little bit like never changing the oil in the car, or dealing with an oil leak when it happens.
First, if at all possible make a backup of the drive in its present configuration.  If something goes wrong during repair attempts and makes things worse you will have a backup.  You will have to decide how to work this in the light of any present backups you may have, for example, a backup that may be a few days out of date.  In that case you may want to keep that one and make a second backup of this as they are now, though I realize people often don't have a lot of empty drives sitting around.
Boot from the System Installer disc that came with your computer or is the one for the version you currently have on there, select language if applicable, choose utilities, run Disk Utility and verify (and repair if necessary) the drive. You can verify a drive from DU on your main drive while booted but I have found this can result in incorrect reporting of errors. To repair your drive you have to run it from a drive other than the boot drive anyway.
Next, boot from your drive in [Safe Mode|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393] and repair permissions.  You can repair permissions while booted from the installer disc but this uses the permissions configuration on the installer disc which may be out of date if you have run any updates on your computer.  Booting your computer to Safe Mode restricts the number of things running on your computer while permissions are being run and does a bit of spring cleaning at the same time.

    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.

  • Can't download iPhoto 9.1 update

    Hi,
I recently got a new macbook and have just installed iLife 11. I tried to run iPhoto and it said it can't run without the latest update.
So I ran my Software Updater and waited for it to update my iPhoto. It downloads halfway and then gave me a error basically saying the file corrupted while downloading and I must try again, I did this with no luck. I then decided to download the update directly from apple's downloads and the file downloads mostly and then said the file could not be mounted. I have tried downloading the iPhoto 9.1 update on my iMac and on a windows machine.
The windows machine downloads the file just fine but when I try and run it on my mac it gives me a error saying the file is corrupt and I should try downloading it again. I am at a loss as to what the problem could be, and at the moment am without iPhoto.
I decided that for the meantime I should uninstall iLife 11 and go back to 9, I did this just to find out that I now can't download updates for iPhoto 9 without my files being corrupted. So I don't see how this is a problem with my iLife installation.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having the same issue in South Africa with updates for my Macbook, Macbook Pro and Mac Pro. I go through Open Web and not sure who they use, maybe IS, but no download updates were working I complained and they changed something and the updates worked with the exception of the 10.5.6 and 10.6.6 OS update. I have tried both the individual files and the combos and have tried to download through Safari, Firefox and speed download - which actually managed to download the file but it won't mount and gives me a bad checksum error. It appears that there is some code in these files or manner in which Apple distributes the data or the protocols it uses that causes havoc with the internet providers here and with all the restrictions and varying shapped and unshapped services we have the file can't get through.
Is there anyway to change this??? I don't want to have to go into Core every time I need to update my computer. Anyone find a solution or work around?

  • How do I install the FM10 licensing fix when Adobe Update Installer won't run?

Adobe Update Installer won't run so can't install FM10 licensing fix
This question is Not Answered.(Mark as assumed answered)

Because FM10 began crashing with "fatal" errors whenever I tried to generate a TOC for a small (65 page) book, I researched workarounds and none of them worked. Now that I have delivered a crippled deliverable via Acrobat manipulations, I would like to fix FM. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, got some updates, and then received the "licensing fix" error that popped up in January. I'm wondering why this fix was included not in the updates. That said, the licensing fix package, first, would not unzip so I downloaded it again. I unzipped it but I got a message that Adobe Updater Installer could not run and after several clicks I found that file. I reinstalled Adoble Update Installer but it still does not run.
I am running Windows XP and have TCS 3.5.I uninstalled FM and RH but not Acrobat, Captivate, or Photoshop.
So, now what? Listen to my supervisor who says never use FM again?
P.S. Why do I have to enter a title for my question and then do it again when this page opens??

Give Adobe Support a call or contact the TCS team at [email protected] - something in your environment is causing the installer to fail (I'd guess).

  • IPhoto doesn't update to modified pics after force quit

iPhoto didn't respond to my 'quit' command, so I chose to +force quit+ it. Before I did so, iPhoto had a problem connecting to Facebook, which seemed to cause iPhoto not being able to quit (this happened to me several times recently, and I always had to end up force quitting iPhoto). Every time I clicked on an album under FACEBOOK on the left column of the iPhoto application window, an error message came up saying +"Facebook authentication with server failed. Please check your login and password information."+ I thought perhaps stopping iPhoto from syncing with Facebook would help, so I +removed my Facebook account from iPhoto+, in an attempt to set up the connection again where I would re-enter my login and password information.
However, after this, when I clicked on a photo and then clicked the Facebook botton on the bottom right corner, then clicked *Set Up* in the message box to +set up iPhoto to publish to Facebook+, the Facebook login box never completed loading (it was all white and plank besides the loading bar on the bottom which never exceeded loading more than about 12%). I waited for more than half an hour and the loading didn't process any longer, so I closed the box. I tried this for several times in the next few hours and the same loading problem came up each time.
In the mean while, the Faces under LIBRARY in iPhoto had an +updating circle+ next to it which seemed never able to end the search. So I did some search over the Internet to find solutions to the problem, and came across with this: _http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2444899_.
The problems now were that 1) iPhoto could not load me to the Facebook login page for me to re-enter my Facebook information for iPhoto; and 2) iPhoto could not quit.
Because the solution posed on the above link has a first step of "quit iPhoto", so I force quitted iPhoto and followed the 1) to 6) processes stated in that thread (i.e.: removed ~/Library/Caches/, ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.LSSharedFileList.plist, and ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist to trash; deleted iphoto.apple.com inside Keychain Access; restarted computer; and launched iPhoto again).
This time I could come to the Facebook login page on iPhoto, and quit iPhoto for no problem. However, I now find that some of the pictures I edited within iPhoto before force quitting do not show the modified versions when I open them, even though the +modified versions+ are shown in thumbnails and they can be located in +iPhoto library+ (~/iPhoto Library/Modified/year*/album name/picture name*). The other weird thing is - the problem does not occur to all photos I edited before force quitting (e.g. for two photos I edited one after another, one has the problem and the other does not).
I did some search over the Internet before posting this message, and found one to be a possible solution to my problem: _http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2771968&tstart=15_
Nevertheless, I'm a bit resistent to downloading +iPhoto Library Manager+ in thinking of the down sides of doing so, if there are any. What would be the best way to solve my current problem? How could I get iPhoto to recognize and link to the modified photos instead of the original files? By the way, I did not have this problem before force quitting iPhoto.
Thank you in advance for all your inputs!

i'd like to keep all modified files because it took me quite some work to edit the pictures
Then recover them from the damaged Library and import them to the new one. That said, remember they will be treated as "new" photos, not as edited versions of the others. There is no way to recreate that link.
    1) Would it be bad for me to keep working with my old iPhoto library?
This library is corrupted. It is known to be damaged. The chances of dataloss are greatly increased. You will have more problems. Personally, I wouldn't.
    2) How to *back up*? And I assume it should be conducted regularly?
    *Most Simple Back Up:*
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
    *Slightly more complex:*
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate
*I'm Serious about Back Ups.* +And you should be too.+
My Library lives on my iMac. It’s Backed up to two external hard disks every day. These disks are permanently attached to the iMac. These back ups run automatically. One is done by Time Machine, one is a bootable back up done by SuperDuper
It’s also backed up to a portable hard disk when ever new photos are added. This hard disk lives in my car. For security, this disk is password protected.
I have a second off-site back up at a relative’s house across town. That’s updated every 3 or 4 months.
My Photos are backed up online. There are many options: Flickr, Picasa, SmugMug etc. However, check the terms of your account carefully. While most sites have free uploading, you will often find that these uploads are limited in terms of the file size or the bandwidth you can use per month. For access that allows you to upload full size pics with no restrictions you may need to pay.
Every couple of months I test the back ups to make sure they are working correctly. It’s very easy to mis-configure a back up application, and the only way to protect against that is to do a trial restore.
    3) Should I un-do the removal of ~/Library/Caches/, ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.LSSharedFileList.plist, and ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist, as well as the delete of iphoto.apple.com inside Keychain Access?
    No.

  • My iPhoto requires an update to work but when I update it there is an error.

    Hello,
I’m having problems with my iPhoto. I used to have the iLife of ’09 (which I believe is version 8.0). I recently updated my macbook pro from 10.6.8 to 10.7.2 then through Software Update I updated my mac to 10.7.4. I’m not sure if the update effected my iPhoto or not because I never checked it. I then updated my iLife to that of '11. My GarageBand and iMovie worked fine but every time I clicked on iPhoto it wouldn’t open. Instead I would get a little textbox saying:
“In order to open iPhoto, you need to update to the latest version.
Please run Software Update to install it now.”
I couldn’t even view iPhoto’s settings or anything. I knew that iPhoto had updated only because I would go to Applications then click on iPhoto’s Get info, which would tell me that I have the 9.0 version (iLife of ’11). So I proceeded to update my iPhoto through Software Update but just as it neared completion the update would stop and I would get a textbox saying:
“The update “iPhoto Update” can’t be installed. The update could not be expanded and may have been corrupted during downloading.  The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that software Update runs”
I have tried everything I have read on iLife Troubleshooting Basics (even though it only fixes iLife '08 and '09 because I can't seem to find fixes for '11) http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3249
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

No you don't have to rebuy iPhoto 11.
    Try reinstall it.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • The update installation on my iPod touch failed and erased everything.

I plugged in my iPod touch (1st generation)into my computer and opened iTunes. A message popped up saying that there was a new update for my iPod, so i clicked on the download and install button. I downloaded the update and while it was installing, another message popped up saying the installation failed. so I was like ok I'll just click on the download again and reinstall it. But now my iPod wasn't showing on iTunes. I disconnected it and reconnected it and my iPod still didn't show. Then I noticed that the download wasn't there either. I turned on my iPod and all it showed was a picture with a connection cord pointing up to the iTunes logo. I think that the failed update installation must have completely erased my iPod touch's software. I have tried looking for the update download all over my computer but found nothing. what do I do now? Is there a way for me to download the software again or something? thank you

Thanks Jason, I will try the troubleshooting steps. Will they still work even if my iPod touch isn't even being recognized as an iPod by iTunes or my computer?
If the iPod is not recognized and cannot be restored from the other user account, try the tips in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1852
You can quickly isolate the issue by trying to restore from another computer.
If the issue is not present on another computer try the tips in the article above.
If the iPod touch has the same issue on another computer, it may need repair.

Do you have one of those newer Macs which require a special update? From other posts, it seems there are now three different OS versions/updates - each one of specific Macs.
I'd call Apple and give them your serial number as well as - important - your build number (click on the Apple and About this Mac; under Mac OS X, click on the numbers until you get to build .......)

For the benefit of others, I wanted to post the steps that fixed this issue for gbrozk1:
    Open Extension Manager CS5.
Select Dreamweaver on the left, and then remove the HTML5Pack (11.0.3 Updater) extension.
Repair the installation of Dreamweaver using your original installation media.
To do this, insert your original installation DVD, or double-click the downloaded DMG file, and then double-click Set-Up.app to begin the installation.
When given choices of which products to Install/Re-install, uncheck everything except Dreamweaver. (That is, we need to be sure Dreamweaver is selected to be re-installed. Re-installing repairs the installation.)
Follow the remaining on-screen instructions to complete the re-install/repair of Dreamweaver.
    Restart your computer.

  • How can I delete the update installation files? Or which files are useless and safe to delete?

ThinkVantage System Update application will find the appropriate updates, download them and install them. This is convenient. But when it finishes the updates, it will not clean the installation files it has downloaded, which I think are not useful any more since the update installation is completed, right?
I think the update appliction stores the downloaded files in the folder: C:\Program Files\Lenovo\System Update\ ,   this folder of mine is over 1.32GB big now. But I just don't know which files and subfolders in it are safe to delete.
Or rather, the preload system occupies a large space on the disk. Which files are no longer used and safe to delete?
Would any experts help with this? Thank you very much!
    Norm

I've been experimenting. Now I figure it out. Automatic System Update downloads and stores files in C:\Program Files\Lenovo\System Update\ Sessions\, and in Sessions' subfolders, all files are not used once update is completed except those ending with .xml. Thus those unnacessary files are safe to delete.
This is what I find out so far.
    Continuing to experiment.
