IPhoto can not find photo

Upgraded to iphoto 11.  then iphoto could not find photos even though they are on my Hard Disk.
Whats up with this?
i manually located the  photos one at a time. This is for 400 photos one at a time?  this is crazy  man.
it should simply go to " all my files" snd grab the photos it needs!
Help. This eats up too much time.

it should simply go to " all my files" snd grab the photos it needs!
It does.  You must have a damaged library.  You say you upgraded to iPhoto 9 (11).  What warning does iPhoto give you when you try to use it?
If you went inside the iPhoto Library package and moved photos around that will damage/corrupt the database that iPhoto uses.i t should simply go to " all my files" snd grab the photos it needs!
Explain what you're seeing and what steps you took to fix the problem.  Then we can attempt to suggest an approach to fix the problem.

  • IPhoto can not find several photos, shows icon, but not pic itself and I did not move anything

I have more then 12'000 photos on iPhoto. After the last update it shows me all pics in the small icons, but when I click on them, severals are not whown - a black background with a grey triangle opens and a "!" in the mid. I suppose this means that iPhoto can not find the data. I already looked into the database and the files are really not there. But I did NOT move them! What happened? What can I do? (I would highly appreciate if I would not have to check every single photo and reimport it again!!!) Thank you in advance for your help!

    Restore from your back up.

  • IPhoto can not find the original photo, does iPhoto copy the photo or just make a thumbnail?

    Hi,
I'm scanning and putting all of my (paper) photos into my computer and then into iPhoto, tagging them, and doing all the time consuming things necessary to build a good library.
I've tried to open a few of the events and look at the photos I put in but I get an error that iPhoto can not find the original photo.  When I put a photo into iPhoto does the program only make a thumbnail copy with a link to the original, or does it actually copy the photo into the library?  I'm thinking the former.  Because I have a Time Machine backup, a hard copy, and (presumably) a copy in iPhoto, I have been deleting the photos AFTER putting them into iPhoto.  Do I need to keep the photos I put in iPhoto on my computer?  Will I need to go into TM and restore them?  Will I loose the information like Faces, Places, Keywords, if I do?
    Thank you much,
    I'm working with 9.1.2

I have exactly the same problem except my photo is named "L1000093.jpg" and it's been there for a year now, but suddenly, when I wanted to view it in it's album, ("Favorite" which has been there for a year too), it says "The photo P1010311.jpg cannot be found"!!!  What the heck is going on?  So I canceled, went back to the album, clicked on L1000093, clicked "show event", went over to Event, clicked "reveal in finder" and there it is, iPhoto Library/Master/blah blah blah... L1000093.jpg!
Where the hack did that P1010311.jpg came from?  Sure I have that photo, but it's in a completely different event and a different album!  What's is iPhoto 11 / Lion / iTunes 10.5.3(3) up to?
So I threw L1000093jpg into the trash, went into Lightroom, find the original, re-export it, load it again into iPhoto, added it again to the album (favorite), and guess what?  I just did all those and the same "The bloody photo cannot be found" message popped up and when I go to finder, there it is.
This is a bug.  It's been a bug since 2006 as far as I can remember.  And Apple had never done a complete fix.  It's an if thing!
And the most frustrating part:  Althought they call this an Apple forum and you have to sign in to participate, I have never seen one Apple software guy here saying "this is what to do", just us victims helping each other and many non-Apple folks guessing to the best of their ability to comfort us.
Oh, toys are toys.  I sometimes wonder if Steve had fought so hard yet the cancer in Apple actually won!

  • Can not find photo

While I am importing photos into iPhoto, i have a screen that keeps appearing saying "can not find photo img_2345.jpg" and will not import the photo that is on the screen. Am I importing photos wrong or do I have two pictures that are the same file name and will not import the new one?
Also, if i go into a event, I can see a small thumbnail of the picture, but when I click on it to view, it says it cannot find the picture. Is there an original location that I can find my imported photos?
    Thank you for your help!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
This sometimes occurs if you’re importing a file into iPhoto and there’s already a file there with the same name. Digital cameras can produce many, many files with the same name over their lifetime, so it’s not uncommon to have several files called IMG_00543.JPG, for instance. Now you want to import one also called this.
What happens is that iPhoto compares the two files to check for duplicates. However, if iPhoto cannot find the file already in the database for comparison, then you get this message. It suggests that your database is damaged because iPhoto has lost track of this (or these) similarly named files.
A simple test is to rename the file you are importing - just add a character - IMG_00543a.JPG for instance. If this then imports with no issue then you might consider rebuilding your library:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • IPhoto can't find photo even though the thumbnail is present. Any help, there are dozens of photos in my library that won't open as iPhoto can't find them.

iPhoto can't find photo even though the thumbnail is present. Any help, there are dozens of photos in my library that won't open as iPhoto can't find them. This is probably a very common question!

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We need to know the details of your problem and situation, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see when you launch iPhoto to open your library?
what fixes have you tried before coming here?
    where is you library located?
how long has this been occuring?
did you apple any updates or upgrades just prior?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?
What do you see when you click on a thumbnail?

  • IPhoto can't find photos restored after disk failure

Recently imported some old photos that were stored on my NAS.
Last week, the NAS failed and I have now installed new disks and restored a backup.
In iPhoto, my recent photos are there but the ones I imported only have the thumbnail and when I attempt to open them I get the error that it can't find the file.
All I want to know is where does iPhoto "think" these files are so I can make sure the originals are in that location. I can't seem to find the anywhere, the information about where iPhoto is looking for them...

Best to start with a new library and this time use a managed library - if you use a referenced library sooner or later you will have the same problem again
Another alternative is to purchase Aperture and use it to reconnect the referenced photos - Aperture handles referenced library jsut fine and it can share the iPhoto library - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5260?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

  • TS3276 from iphoto can not share photos via email

error message says "The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination."
had previously been able to share photos from iphoto via email.  Did not change any settings and cant do so now.
    Help

When I try to share photos via email, iPhoto says the server does not recognize the username/password combination.
Use your iCloud Mail account, when mailing from iPhoto and not email or similar. Sending using iPhoto as Mail client is more robust, if the send "From" in the outgoing mail is set to your iCloud account.

  • IPhoto suddenly not finding photos since 2010. Should I upgrade?

iPhoto cannot find all my photos for the last five years. Same on backup drive. Both are external hard drives. I'm sure they are in the drives and in the library. Just the pathway to them not being found. Possible cause - I have not upgraded since iPhoto 7 (I liked it as it was). Should I now upgrade or might I really lose the abitity to get to my photos?

With respect that's not the same problem.
Create a new thread and supply full details for your issue:
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

How can I synchronize my iPhoto events? my iTunes doesn't read them and with the app Images in the iPad I can only find Photos, Albums, Faces and Places, not Events.

I had a problem a couple of months ago when iPhotos suddenly rearranged the order of my Events (Why won't iPhoto let me arrange my photos?) .  I was told "Use albums not events - events are not a good way to organize - albums and folder are designed for organisation and are very flexible".
Haha!  I should have paid attention and read between the lines!  My iPhotos were highly organised groupings - not according to date but the way I wanted them - and it was so easy to do!  I see now that if I had them all in albums, as per the Apple Apologist suggestion, I wouldn't have this unholy mess I have been left with just to make iPhone & iCloud users happy.  I am now going through Photos and making Albums (of what used to be in my Events)  ... maybe I'll get this finished before they do another non user friendly update!

This is what the inside of an iPhoto 6 library looks like:
Where in there did you look for the image files?
Did you run any updaters pror to discovering the missing photos?  What fixes have you tried?  Do you have a backup of the library on another hard drive?

  • I can not export photos onto DVD. After I click export, close iPhoto, click Finder, At this point I can't find the file to burn. (copy to be used on Windows) Sorry for the lame question....new to mac

I can not export photos onto DVD. After I click export, close iPhoto, click Finder, At this point I can't find the file to burn. (copy to be used on Windows) Sorry for the lame question....new to mac

So it sounds like you are trying to burn a DVD with photos on it so the photos can be either transferred to or displayed on a Windows PC, is that correct?
For the purposes of this I am going to assume you are using iPhoto '11.
Gather the photos you want to burn to DVD in one album in iPhoto. This is not absolutely necessary but it sure makes things easier for me.
Select that album, then go to the File menu and select Export...
In the dialog that shows up, select the File Export tab. Select the setting you want to use for export. Click the Export button.
Another dialog will show up. Set the location to Desktop and click the New Folder button. Name the folder something nice and descriptive and click the Create button.
Click the OK button. Quit iPhoto as the rest of this work will be done in the Finder.
You will now have a folder on your desktop with that nice descriptive name. Find it and select it. Go to the File menu and from it select Burn "Descriptive folder name" to Disc...
Insert a blank DVD when prompted.
Let the finder complete the work and eject the disc afterwards.
    That's it. Best of luck.

  • My iPhoto has crashed and will not load up my picture and iTunes can not find my photos.  Why?

My iPhoto has creashed and will not load up my pictures and iTunes can not find my picture either.  Why?

Tell us more please - so it is hard to guess what might have happened.
What is your iPhoto version and your MacOS X version?
What happened directly, before you could no longer open your iPhoto library?
Did you install or upgrade software?
Did you import new photos to your iPhoto library?
Are other programs also behaving buggie?
Did you move your iPhoto library to a new harddisk?
Did you run other programs, that might have changes the iPhoto library?
How full is your harddrisk? Could it be, that you are running out of disk space?
Anything at all, that could give us a clue ...
