Iphoto closing unexpectedly when "loading photo"-- please help

When I click to open iphoto, the application itself begins to load, but in the process of "loading photos" it freezes, shuts itself down, and then a message appears stating that iphoto closed unexpectedly giving me options to report, relaunch, and ignore.
I have removed all my photos to an external hard drive, guessing that I might have too any images. However the problem persists.
Any suggestion??? Iphoto is one my most used applications and i really miss it working. I appreciate any help!

I'm sorry to tell you that your problems aren't over.
but creating a new user did!
This is not a solution, but a test. As I said above:
see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.
So now we really need to find out what's causing the problem in the main account.
But that's just another problem because of this:
I moved all the jpeg files out of the iphoto library folder onto an external hard drive and then deleted the pictures out of the library folder.
Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
You've wrecked your library. Do you want to fix it and iPhoto in the main account? Post back if you do.
Regards
TD

  • IPhoto has shrunk all my photos, please help.

I know this seems mad and I have looked up online and seen that everyone says this can't happen but it has.
My camera is set to take 12mp photos which come out as 3000x4000pixels when put into iphoto.
I looked at my photos today and they were 3000x4000 and vice versa when upright shots and my older photos from other cameras were differing sizes.
I took some photos, not changing anything on the camera and imported then to iphoto and they are fine.
But all my other photos taken with the same camera at the same settings as before and the older photos are now 360x270 and crap quality!!
I have checked the originals root folder etc and they are 360x270 as well!
These were not this size this morning.
Has anyone ever known this to happen?
I think I have a back up but if not is I will be very annoyed.
Thanks for any replies and help on how to retrieve.

    Thanks for reply.
In my iphoto library I had differing sizes of images, ranging from 360x270 to 640x426 (old pics with old camera and differing friends imports) to 4000x3000 (new camera I got in December for going on holiday to New York) This camera is set to take 12mp images and has not been changed since I bought it.
Yesterday, I looked at my images, including those of New York and they were all of differing sizes and my images of NYC were 4000x3000 and ranged from 2-4mb in file size.
When I import my images I do as I have always done for the last 3 years. Copy images into a folder on my desktop, named what they are (New York December 2010) then drag into iphoto to copy. This procedure lets me see in the root folder library what the folder is called, i.e. (New York December 2010) rather than "Roll 236" for example.
If this means that I imported thumbnails then why were the images of the proper size? 3000x4000 and 2-4mb.
So then I installed Snow Leopard, not a clean installation, so to keep programs etc.
Stupidly, I didn't take a back up of the new images of New York.
After the install I uploaded some images, exactly the same way as I always do, and as stated above.
The newly imported images are as I would expect 3000x4000 and 2-4mb.
However, my NYC pics are all 360x270 and 40-70kb now. This is both in iphoto viewer, the root folders (data, originals and modified).
If this is to do with the Snow Leopard install, which is the only conclusion I can come to, then why?
I know this is my fault for not doing a back up of the new photos, so any answers stating "do a back up", thanks, but that doesn't help me!
The reason is because every post I can find relating to the install of Snow Leopard and iPhoto is regarding the complete loss of images and data, not the resizing of images. So what I am hoping is that as the "New York" images are still there but smaller, there may be some way for someone who really knows what they are doing to get these back to there original size.
    Is this possible?
Thanks for any help and replies.

  • ITunes 7 crashes when loading Library - please help

I loaded ver 7, all was well for a day or two. I was loading some new music from CD when itunes crashed. I fired it back up and my library was missing, although the files were still on the HD. I have tried every way I know to get itunes to list the files again (add folder, move library folder then move back…), but every time after about 30 seconds of reading files into the database, itunes crashes. I have tried small subsets, closing all other applications, completely removing itunes and reloading. I have not tried reverting, yet (I hate to give up). Oh, for what it is worth, my iTunes icons were good prior to the crash, now I also have the misterious icon error... Thanks ahead for any ideas!

Is your computer doing anything else at the time? I had problems with itunes freezing when I had 8 browser tabs open, & was switching between all.
Have you recently moved any itunes folders? I had the constantly updating my library problem when I moved all my music to an external drive (inevitable in itunes), then when I had to move the itunes program itself to the external drive (as it was storing many Gb's of podcasts on the 40Gb main hard drive).
Did you update to 7.2? I am also running xp pro & asked a question here about updated from 7.1. From the advice I had gotten, I'm sticking with 7.1. Perhaps you can roll back the installation (though not sure you can do this with itunes, as is possible with windows media player). If not, uninstalling 7.2 then reinstalling 7.1 might bring your system back to normalcy. Sometimes fixing something takes too much time and effort when what you had before worked fine. Good Luck!

  • Phone shuts down when deleting photos, please help

WHen I connect my iphone to the computer, I can get the pictures from the camera roll with no problem. If I choose to delete the photos after transfer, or If I manually select the photos, and then press delete, the phone stops responding, shuts down and restarts without deleting the photos. I can delete them one at a time directly from the camera roll on the phone, but that takes a long time and I simply dont think that deleting them all at once should be a problem. Has anyone else had this problem, that can help me fix it? Apple says that they have never heard of this before, but I cant possibly be the only one with this problem

I confirm the issue: this did not happen with Firmware 2.1
    iPhone 16G with firmware 2.2.1
    Windows XP Pro SP3 - 3.2GHz 2G RAM
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Plug iPhone into USB port
    2. When the dialog appears accept the use of the Scanning Wizard
    3. Elect to pull all of the photos from the phone, and check the
    "delete when done" box.
    4. Observe that all of the photos are pulled successfully
    5. Then the wizard says "deleting pictures 1 of 455"
    6. There is a pause - obout 20 seconds
    7. The iPhone then reboots with no warning
and the wizard thinks it has finished: reports no errors.
I have seen this issue reported elsewhere on Apple forums, so think
that other people are seeing the issue, too.

My iPhoto closed unexpectedly and now it says "Rebuilding the iPhoto Library database". What is going on and are my photos still going to be there?

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what were you doing when iPhoto closed unexpectedly?
how big is your library, i.e. how many photos?
how long has the rebuilding been going on?
do you have a recent backup of the library made just prior to this occurring?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • HT1338 Iphoto closed unexpectedly?  Won't import photos

Iphoto Closed unexpectedly and will not import photos.  Any Help

iPhoto 9.5 immediately tries to "upgrade" my library using the upgrader.
iPhoto 9.5 asks you to run the upgrader to prepare the library for 9.5. It then will update the library to its format.
You need to do the following:
1 - go to your Applications/Utilities folder and double click on the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 application.
2 - select Choose Library, navigate to your iPhoto library, select it and let the upgrader do its thing.
3 - launch iPhoto 9.5 to open and finish the conversion of the library.

  • Why does my iPhoto quit unexpectedly when transferring pics to 32gb memory stick

why does my iphoto quit unexpectedly when transferring pics to a 32gb memory stick at the same place each time?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
☞ If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
☞ Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • IPhoto quits unexpectedly when exporting slideshow

iPhoto quits unexpectedly when I export a slideshow. I'm using the following command 'File', 'Export', 'Slideshow tab', unchecking automatically send to iTunes and checking Large. With experimentation I've discovered it will export if I select Medium, and will fail if Display is checked. I've also verified that sharing to iDVD via Share works fine.
I've simplified the slideshow to two slides, and get the same crash.
I'm running this on a Mac Mini, 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2GB memory, exporting to my Mac's HD, which has 95 Gb free space.
The information that is presented is pasted below -- let me know anything else that would be useful to help resolve.
Can anyone offer suggestions to help me with this? Thanks!

during restore of my backup on iphone 5s i saw my photos and videos get doubled on ios 8.0 and moreover
if i use to go at my computer and then open my iphone and in folder i see some files name local disk and my photos
    please help my memory doubles.

I'm not sure, but I know it's not recommended to upgrade to iOS 8 on anything older than an iPhone 5. I only lost my music playlists and music that was on my phone, but that music is also on my iTunes, not the playlists though, and I don't want to go through ALL my iTunes library to fix it either... But it seems I don't have a choice right now.
Whatever you do, do NOT upgrade to iCloud Drive, keep iCloud till OS X Yosemite comes out, if your computer is a Mac. I also just noticed that all my documents on my phone are gone from Pages, BUT if I go on the iCloud website they are still there. Hopefully it will all work itself out when I can update my macbook pro to OS X Yosemite.
If you backed up your phone and all your purchases off your iPhone prior to trying to upgrade you should be fine... But I'm not even remotely sure.

You need to inform the JVM of the location of your classes, i.e. test.jar or whatever the jars name is.
    For Example
if my applet.html is located in testFolder/html/

Then, the following is my object tag
    <object height="0" width="0" code="com/myClasses/test" codebase='../' archive='jars/applet.jar'></object>

Millionaire and friends game not loading! Please help! I have tried restarting the device &amp; deleting the app and trying to reload but nothing works? I also tried to email the creators of the app but the email address for tech support bounced back to me so its obviously not a good email??

I tried to email the developer (Canada) but the email for technical support is not a good email. My email got returned to me undeliverable? Not sure what to do next? I also want to get the game going again cause I made purchases to get more coins to play the game &amp; now I can't even use it? Very frustrating!!!
