IPhoto impossible to print book

I made a photo book on iPhoto, but impossible to upload it. Always fail when i press "purchase book"
please help

I found the solution. That was pretty stupid.
When updated iPhoto, it had de-selected the country of purchase.
Just had to go in Preferences / Advanced and select the country.

For future books you might consider doing what I do:  create a separate library for each book andcopy the photos for the book from your working library to the book library with iPhoto Library Manager.
When the book is completed and ordered burn the library package to a CD, DVD or external HD to archive it so it's available for editing and reordering at a later date if needed.

  • Best way to prepare photos for iPhoto printed book

    Hello,
I was wondering what would be the best way to prepare photos for iPhoto printed book on a Macbook Pro so to achieve the most realistic results to what's on the screen
ie. which software should I use to change photos from RGB to CMYK, photoshop or iPhoto itself. I'm guessing maybe the autofix feature in iPhoto? (I don't have Aperture)
Secondly, which monitor color setting should I set the screen at? I'm guessing it's either Apple RGB or Colour LCD, maybe even ColorMatch RGB?
Any any other tips that people can give in achieving the most realistic results to what you have on the screen when your printed iPhoto book gets sent back. I don't want the mid tones to disappear or become too bright because the gamma and color settings were different to what they use at the other end.
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
The situation has changed a little, our original photos are in RAW format and some of them are slightly over saturated in the higher tones.
I've read on other threads that it is a good idea to run the 'Enhance' tool on all photos before sending the iPhoto Book away.
Since iPhoto's 'Enhance' tools seems to do a lot of helpful things like sharpen, adjust the levels, etc it also seems to notch the contrast up and this would prove destructive for the lighter and darker tones not captured by the camera's dynamic range.
So as I've been advised it's best to use Apple's own tools before sending the iPhoto Book away, so I'm going to download the trial of Aperture.
Does anyone have any more recommendations on which monitor colour profile setting to use etc. I've also read that iPhoto prints best from JPEGS so the RAW will obviously need changed. Will Aperture automatically save to Profile name: Camera RGB Profile after I've done some editing there?
What would be the best way to prepare RAW images in aperture where some of them might need an Image Overlay in Photomatix then imported back to Aperture for printing an Apple/iPhoto style Book?
    Many thanks

  • HT1880 Is there a calibration tool foor iPhoto and the printing of books (dark results)

Hi, Not satisfied with the result of a very expensive and therefore unusable iPhoto Book, due to the dark prints of the images, I am looking for a calibration tool. Does anyone know of its existence? Or is it just aquestion of lowering the color density of your photo's before, with iPhoto? And, if yes, at what rate do they have to adjusted?
Thank you for an answer, sicerely, Jos

Don't know if you can set the camera to use a different RGB profile for future photos.
To convert existing files to sRGB you can download and use this Automator workflow application, Convert to JPG anbd Embed sRGB profile, on the original files.  However, you would have to export the orignals out of iPhoto, run the app on them and reimport them.  You can download the app from  Toad's Cellar.
For future photos you can upload them to a folder on the Desktop and run the app on them there before importing.
Contact Apple, tell them about the problem and they probably will refund the purchase price.  If you reorder then you're on your own from then on.  Be sure to create a PDF of the book as described in this Apple document, iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it, before you order it and save the pdf for comparison to the printed version after you receive it.

  • When I click "Buy Now" in iPhoto's book I get the following message: Your book appears to have default text that has not been edited. Printed books will not include this text. Do you want to continue?"

When I click "Buy Now" in iPhoto's book I get the following message: "Your book appears to have default text that has not been edited. Printed books will not include this text. Do you want to continue?"
How do I proceed?  How do I identify which is "default text?"

What version of iPhoto are you using?
Go thru each page, check the layout to see if there's a text box included on the page and make sure there is text in that text box.  If not it may show the "holding" text like this:
If you don't want to change the page layout to one that only has photos and no text boxes just select that holding text and put a space in its place.

  • Anyone else also still having problems to order a printed book with pictures from iPhoto? Can you help?

When I try to order a printed book, I can not get any further than to "check out". Then I get "oops the store is temporarily unavailable". It has been like this for the past two days.
Everything else works on the Macbook Air. Mail, iTunes, surfing etc

Also what print product store are you trying to order from?  Give this fix posted by another user a try:
    Quit iPhoto.
From the Finder menu bar, choose Go > Utilities to access your Utilities folder (or press Shift-Command-U).
In your Utilities folder, open Keychain Access.
Find the "NetServices" entry in your Keychain Access window.
Select the "NetServices" entry and press the delete key.
Reopen iPhoto and attempt to place your order again.
You should be prompted to enter your account information if you deleted the Keychain entry successfully.
After entering your account information, you should be able to complete your order.

  • Low contrast colour in printed book, iPhoto 9.1.5 and Lion

My versions are: iPhoto 9.1.5 (615) and OS X 10.7
I have made and purchased 8 photo books using iPhoto. The most recent book arrived and the colour contrast was poor. Pictures lacked "punch" and colour depth when compared to the photo in iPhoto. While on the phone with an iPhoto specialist he suggested that I compare the printed PDF output of the book to the photo in iPhoto. The PDF matched the printed book - low contrast colour. I was asked to delete and re-add the photo to the book and print to a PDF again (just the one page). The result was a marked improvement and matched the photo in iPhoto.
I was advised to print a PDF of the book and compare to photos in iPhoto prior to buying. This I can do but it was not explained why my previous 7 books were more than acceptable. My 7 previous books were all done with earlier versions of iPhoto and Mac OS X.
Lesson learned: Verify the printed output by creating a PDF of the book, compare to the photos in iPhoto and if OK, hope that when the book is purchased that the created PDF is the same as the one used for the comparison.

It is even better to preview the book -
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.

A poor Roman husband trying to print abirthday gift...

Make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and  apply the fix below:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
After each run thru the repair process see if you can create a PDF file of the book as described in this Apple Document: iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it. If you can try ordering the book.  If you can't finish trying all of the otpions and then boot into Safe mode and try there.

  • Printing Books for a Photo Class

I am a college student in a digital photography class. About 90% of the class is on a Mac and we use iPhoto & Aperture to edit photos. We want to start printing books but before we do, what recommendations do you have for the other 10% of the class? Is there a program that PC users can either purchase or download that will allow them to make books? Thanks for your time.

PC users, as well as Mac users, can make photo books on a variety of online programs. Shutterfly, SharedLink, ImageStation, PhotoWorks all will allow users to create nice bound books. Shutterfly has nice options for page layouts--even more than Apple!

  • Can I print book with text blocks instead of photos?

I have spent all day creating a book to print which included a photo on front, poems in place of photos on all pages (which I'd previously made into jpgs by creating layers in photoshop). I get to the ordering stage and I get an error window saying:
DEFAULT TEXT: your book appears to have default text that has not yet been edited. Printed books will not include this text. Do you want to continue with your order?
SO what does the above mean exactly?
And is it not possible to print text pages instead of photos?
Iphoto doesn't appear to give an open to type text on each page, but maybe iphoto 6 (iLife) does???
And how come it's not possible to ship my order internationally?
Thank you in advance for your help in answering my questions

I haven't printed out an iPhoto book myself, but the message you are getting seems to indicate that you did not fill in some parts of page templates. If so, then those parts will print blank even though iPhoto shows them containing default text. You probably wanted them blank anyway, though.
As for using iPhoto to print out a book with only one picture, that is probably doing things the hard way. If you want to print a book of text, there are now web options to do so costing about the same as an iPhono book. I don't think iPhoto is going to add templates sson for non-photo books.
As for overseas shipping, that is probably an issue of duties and shipping costs. Many US sellers on the Web will ship only to the US or perhaps Canada.

  • When I click Buy Book this appears our book appears to have default text that has not been edited. Printed books will not include this text. Do you want to continue? will the text I have sellected still be ok or will the book have missing text help Pleas?

I just spent 3 days creating a book [32 pages], with photos and text but when I click Buy Book In iPhoto this appears>
Our book appears to have default text that has not been edited. Printed books will not include this text. Do you want to continue?
My question is will the text I have sellected to use still be ok, am I safe to continue and buy or will the book have missing text ?
The book is for special birtday in 2 weeks time  Please Help.G
    <Email Edited by Host>

Yes, you're safe to continue.  That means that there are text boxes that you did not put any text into and they contain the holding text which will not be printed.  That text is shown in a light grayt and is in Latin.  Normally you can just put a space in the text box to replace the holding text so as not to get that warning message.
Before ordering the book proof the book according to this Apple document: iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture. Check the pdf file for any missing text or photos and any warning indicators in the text boxes indicating that some of the text has exceeded the space allotted in the text box.
Keep the pdf file to compare with the printed copy when you reciive it.

  • Degraded quality of photo printing book in Aperture 3

    Hi,
I've isolated an issue in the print book function of Aperture 3 that drove me crazy in the last ten days:
I've created a custom size book to deliver to a local print service via "save as pdf" function, but something gone wrong because the quality of the pdf isn't good as the original photos.
After days of trials I've found where the problem rises up, so I'll try to explain step by step below:
I've identified one critical photos that well shows the problem and I've "printed to pdf" from the normal print photo function of Aperture and the results was correct:
So I've created a book and put that photo in a page and I've "print to pdf" the book. The results was degraded like you can see below (look at the dark areas that have lost every details):
I've done the same operation in iPhoto, the "non Pro" minor App, and in a paradoxical way the iPhoto results PDF was perfect!
I've also noticed that the preview image of the print dialog box of Aperture shows the defect unlike the dialog box of iPhoto:
    Aperture:
    iPhoto:
So finally seems that something in the print engine of books in Aperture is broken and ruins the photos "before" are printed, and           apparently no setting seems to help.
I've done this tials on a MacPro Lion 10.7.5 ad Aperture 3.4.3, MacBook Pro Lion 10.7.5 ad Aperture 3.4.3 and MacPro Snow Leopard with aperture 3.1 and 3.2 always with the same results.
you can download the generated PDF here:
    pdf Aperture Photo:
    http://temp.paolorossi.me/ApertureImagePrint.pdf
    pdf Aperture book:
    http://temp.paolorossi.me/ApertureBookPrint.pdf
    pdf iPhoto book:
    http://temp.paolorossi.me/iPhotoBook.pdf

    I've done another test:
I've created a sample image with 4 colour faded bars with values from 0 to 128 for RGB and gray then I've putted on a page in Aperture book and iPhoto book then I've printed on PDF.
Below you can see the results: iPhoto is good whereas Aperture is ruined.
    iPhoto results:
    Aperture results:
I've also noticed the Aperture results is influenced by the color profile chosed on the selector in the box, but no profile at all gives a good job , every profile returns a weird custom defect, also with "no profile" choice.

How can I fix the text in my photo book that reads"your default text had not been edited. Printed books will not include this text?"

You will get this warning, if your book includes textboxes that still include the default text, like "Insert Title". You need to find these boxes and add your own text.  Look for boxes like this:
Make a PDF-preview of your book and look, where the preview differs from what you are seeing in iPhoto.
