IPhoto Inability to Play Selected Music

iPhoto '09 v 8.1.2 (424), OS 10.6.5
In the Slideshow creation module, subset "Music Settings", I get one song in the upper window. Whether I double click this song (where it plays appropriately), or click the "Play" button next to the search bar (in the middle of the "Music Settings")(where it also plays appropriately), and in both cases click the "Apply" button at the bottom of the "Music Settings", when I reopen the slideshow and play it (or preview it), the chosen song never is played; instead it plays a song I had selected over a year ago for another slideshow. The problem has persisted for this past year on any new slideshow.
Thus, any advice as to how to select a song and appropriately, permanently attach it to a selected slideshow, instead of having an old song play with all new slideshows, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Backup the library and try the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select last three options.

  • IPhoto will not play iTunes music in slideshow

Slideshow I created in iPhoto will only play theme music.  When I select my music from iTunes, the slideshow does not play the music. I have made dozens of slideshows before without this problem.  Seems to be a bug with iPhoto now.  Any suggestions??

Assuming this is for iPhoto on your Mac:
Launch iTunes use the File -> Library -> Organize Library -> Reorganize Library menu option. Then quit and relaunch iPhoto.

  • Problem playing selected music with slideshow

    Hi
I am having trouble playing music with slideshows since updating to iphoto 6. I can see all my playlists and I am able to select the playlist I want and this will play in the 'play music during slideshow' window. However, when I play the slideshow I receive an error message telling me that 'the music you have selected can't be found or can't be opened'.
This has only been a problem since updating and it doesn't matter what playlist I choose - they will all play in both iTunes and the selection screen for the slideshpw but not actually with the slideshow (the play music with slideshow box is ticked).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am about to throw my mac out the window.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What version of Quicktime are you running? You should be at 7.1.5. If not update to it and give it another try.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • ITunes will only play select music...

I have recently done a complete switch from PC to Mac and as such I transferred all of my music from my PC to my Mac. When I load the music into iTunes it will only recognize some music and won't even import the other stuff. The 'other' stuff played in iTunes on my PC and just recently noticed that certain albums were completely gone and when an attempt to re-import itunes would do nothing with it.
    hope someone can help,
    thanks.

  • TS3018 my new iphone 5 will not play selected tunes.  It skips around at random for songs.  I tried turning the shuffle feature on and off but no luck.  It also doesn't do it on every song selected.  When it does it, it seems to play the same set of songs

I have a new iphone 5 that won't play selected music.  When you try and pick a particular song is skips around randomly to another song.  I've tried turning the shuffle on and off with no luck.

Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off.

  • Created slide show in iPhoto, but with new version music no longer will play.  When I click on fit slideshow to music, iPhoto shuts down.  How can I fix this.

I created a slideshow in a previous version of iPhoto.  Since updating software the music in my slide show no longer plays.  How do I fix this?  If I select fit slideshow to music, the application will shutdown and the error file is sent and have to reopen iPhoto.

I reorganized iTunes music library and it works.

  • "Select music to play from the music library" error mess

This is an error that I am just after spotting today. When I navigate through my music collection and through the various options?on the Creative Vision M 30GB the message "Select music to play from the music library" appears for a few seconds on screen.
Can figure out what is causing the error, I am using just over 50% of the devices capacity. The problem suggests that the device is having problems keeping up with my selections. Is this a known bug, is there a software undate available for the device?Michael.Message Edited by Mike55 on 08-6-200709:09 AM

Thanks for the reply, but I just reset the setting and the massage didn't come up anymore.

  • How do I change the settings on my ipod so that it plays continuous music.  Right now, it plays the same song over and over, even if I select the shuffle icon.  It used to show the continuous play icon, it doesn't anymore.

Right click on a movie(in iTunes), and click "get info" then go to album artwork and add the artwork that you want...

  • Apple tv plays wrong music on iphoto

    Hi,
Can anyone help please, this is the first time on this forum.
I have purchased an apple tv and sent all the music files and photo files succesfully over the wi fi but the selected music I chose for the photos does not play. Instead another song plays that I never chose! This happens on all the files on Apple TV. Strangely if I start up Front Row on my computer and select photos the correctly chosen songs plays perfectly.

  • IPad 2 playing of all music videos in the folder is not possible. You can play a music video (all purchased from iTunes) but once is finished you have to manually select another one. This defeats the whole concept of having a music video library

How could we play all music videos within the music folder in the iPad2 ? In other words, select all, choose random, and click play and all music videos will automatically play upon completion of the one been viewed without the user having to deselect another video manually (annoying interrupt).
Currently you have to choose each music video and upon completion choose the next one manually. That defeats the whole concept of a music video library.
This does not happen on previous iPad or MacBook Pro iTunes!!!!!
    Very annoying.
    Thanks,
    WMR

  • Front Row Won't Play Slideshow Music (iTunes)

I created a slideshow in iPhoto and selected an iTunes playlist as my music source. When I play the slideshow from Front Row the music does not play. However, if I play a photo event from Front Row the default music does play. Why won't my slideshow play the music?
    Please advise.

Front Row in Mac OS X 10.5.x has been broken the whole time. It used to work fine in Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger). Front Row will not play an iTunes playlist during a slideshow if the playlist contains more than one song. You can use a playlist that only has one song in it, but then you might as well just choose a single song instead of a playlist! I would suggest you send Apple some Mac OS X feedback:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
For what it's worth, iPhoto seems to work fine with slideshows and iTunes playlists with more than one song.

  • Slide show only plays Theme Music

Using iPhoto 9.5.1 and Mavericks 10.9.4
I made a new slide show and after selecting it and clicking on Music, I have clicked the check box for Play Music during Slideshow.
Theme music plays perfectly.  I can see my iTunes library and select music, but when I select my own music and hit Choose, it either (1) stays on themed music or (2) is silent.  In fact once it is silent, I have to change the Theme in order to get even the Themed music to play.
I would REALLY appreciate some help with this. It is very frustrating!
    Dave

Try choosing the "Custom Playlist' option and drag the audio track into it.  See if that will link that audio track to the slideshow.
Is this a slideshow from an album or from the slideshow mode?

  • Selecting music from itunes

When selecting music from itunes for an iphoto slideshow (iphoto08), I am only able to select one song, even when I select and highlight multiple songs, only the last song in the highlighted list plays, and then repeats itself. How do I select multiple songs or an entire album -- albums are shown in the list, only the individual songs from the library? Thank you.

Thank you. Overlooking the obvious is a personal charateristic.
