Iphoto is not showing that i have no photos

iphoto is not showing that i have no photos, but when i look at the file size of the iPhoto library in finder it says its 86gb... how do i get these photos back into my library neatly?

I am using iPhoto version 9.6
I imported some photos last night and a couple messages popped up basically saying iPhoto needed to restart (i don't remember exactly what they said). So i restarted and when i opened up iPhoto again there was a single photo displaying, basically like i had just started using the app. iPhoto just tells me how to 'get started' when i open it now.

In the iBooks application on the Mac, there is a checkbox to sync highlights and notes across devices.
I don't see a similar setting in the iBooks app on my iPad. It may require iBooks on the Mac as a mediator.

IPhoto is not showing photos that i have saved on an external drive. I can see tht the photos are on the drive, but iPhoto is not showing them. Help!!

Iphoto is not showing the photos that I know are stored on the external drive. I can see that there is 45 Gig of photos stored on the drive as they appear in finder when looked for, but I cannot see them in iPhoto.
I have used the external drive as the default location for my iPhoto library and not had this problem before.
I had a message earlier about generating thumbnails. I also had iMovie running this morning. This is when the problem began.
Have tried restarting computer and all the obvious things.
Also tried rebuilding the library.
Please help!

Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

I show that I have an update to my iPhoto but when I click update it tells me that I have updates to other accounts and I should log into the account that I purchased it through? Does anyone know what I should do?

My App icon shows that I have one upgrade. When I try to update this app, to my iphoto, it tells me that I have updates available for other accounts and in order to update this application I need to sign in to the account used to purchased it....I only have one account, so I don't know how to update this, it just stays on my desktop showing that I have 1 update on my App icon...

Are you sure that these Apps were not purchased using another Apple ID...
If so, and you only have one ID, then Contact Customer Service...

Depends on where you got it - if it came on yoru compujter then you need to have accepeted it in the App store - and it will be in your purchases when you log in with the Apple ID that you used to set up your computer - it mahy be hidden - if you do not find it unhide applications in teh App store

My iPhoto shows that I have 19 Events but I only have 4. How do I fix it?

iPhoto shows that I have 19 Events when I only have 4. Also, the Event with the majority of the photos in it shows that there are only 131 photos when you scroll over the Key Photo but when you actually double click the Event folder, the correct number (which is over 25,000) shows up. What can I do to get iPhoto to accurately display the amount of Events and photos again??

Back up your iPhoto library, depress the option and command keys, launch iPhoto and from the resulting first aid window repair the database. If it does not fix then repeat rebuilding the database

This may be related to a new feature embedded in iOS7 that shows all purchased music by default. Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music. See if the issue ceases once the feature has been disabled. This information is located on page 63 of the user guide below.

Yje apps show that I have 1 update. I try to update but it shows mt wrong ID and will not allow me to correct it.. I get into apple fine but not the update???

My system is, OS Yosmite. iMac 21.5. 2.7 GHz. intel core 15. 4GB 1333 MHz.
It is showing that I have one update; I click on update and I get the ID/password drop down. that is showing my wrong ID. I have logged into apple without problems but the app store will not recognise my new Apple ID and password. I am unable to change it in the dropdown.
I have had this problem since I updated to Yosmite??
Is there something I can do to rectify this problem. I have changed my ID and password but still nothing happens.

3. Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't work, try these steps:
1. Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
2. Tap Settings > iCloud and try to sign out.
3. Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
4. Tap Settings > iCloud and sign in with the new Apple ID.

Hi, Yes you are correct in iPhoto Prefernces, Advanced tab editing I used to have iPhoto and "Use external editor.". It changed to iPhoto and iPhoto Library. I have einstaleed PSE 9 and downloaded the update. There is still no lkink to external editor in the drop down box. First make sue you are installing the 64 bit version of iTunes.
Second make sure it is iTunes 10.7 or later.
I would download a fresh copy of the 64 bit version of iTunes 11. After installation reboot your computer.
Before connecting your phone reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

I tried it and nothing changed. Even when I right click on an indiviual image all it does is duplicate it. Iphoto seems to be recognizing my external hard drive as an editor......cannot get photoshop except to drag a picture into photoshop from iphoto, and once I have worked on it and saved it to iphoto I cant find it anywhere.

iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?
