IPhoto missing from a brand new mac book pro running on Yosemite
I have a brand new mac book pro, and trying to open iPhoto I receive the message " in order to open iphoto, you need to update to the latest version." However, when I "Search App Store" I receive the message "Not Available, the item you've requested is not currently available in the U.S. store." Does this make any sense? How do I get iPhoto??

just bought a brand new mac book pro went online and noticed that there were already items saved to favorites, strange things about pumpkin cheesecake.
You could have purchased a refurbished computer.
Take it back and voice your concern and where ever you purchased it from will probably swap it out for you -

Does anyone here, purchased a brand new Mac Book Pro 13-inch: 2.9GHz with a defective screen?
I bought mine, Last June 14. I just noticed the defect last June 29 and returned it to where I purchase it at june 30.
There are somewhat 'black smudges' on the left part of the screen. I'm a graphic designer, so i know that this is a big issue for me.
Also, the fact that I'm just using it for 5 times I think, since I bought it, and there's already an issue.
At first, i was battling with the customer service (from where i bought it), They wouldn't want to give me replacement, because I already exceeded their 7 day return policy. But I'm not giving in, so then they just told me, they would send it to apple service.
It took a week for a progress, then I just got a call from Apple, that they didn't saw it either (the defect). Then I told the guy what I saw.
It's only visible with black background and with the lights turned off.
So he called again and told me that he also saw it, and told me that they would replace the Monitor.
I'm new with this, is it normally ok, that they will just replace the monitor? I mean, would it still work properly, now that they've
opened it and replaced only the defective part?
Hope you guys can give me your thoughts.
Thank You.Not sure what part of the world you are in but Apple has a 14 day return policy. But even with the 14 days you exceeded that time limit. So the only option is to replace the defective part and not the whole system. This is standard operating practices for any manufacturer once you have exceeded the return period.

Brand new mac book pro very slow
I just purchased a brand new mac book pro 13" with and i5 processor, 2.3ghz, 4 gb ram, running osX Lion. I bought it to replace my 2008 mac book pro that had a failing hard drive and a bad logic board. So i bought this new mac book 2 days ago, set it up and everything was great until i went to surf the net. My internet is so slow, webpages take ages to load about 5 minutes or more, same with videos (like on youtube). So I tried my old mac book and the internet was running great on that one, same with my roomates old macbook, my boyfriends pc and numerous other devices connected to my wifi (a nook, a tablet, and an iphone). So i checked my network settings everything was good, its was functioning fine according to network diagnostics. After googling this I switched my dns to googles public dns which made no difference either. When plugged directly into the router via ethernet the internet surfs like a champ. If the wireless internet preforms like this my new macbook is somewhat useless to me .Help! What could be the problem? Or did apple just really screw up the airport on these new macs? My old mac was a beast speed wise, i firgure the new mac should put the older ones to shame. What gives?
I suggest use the ethernet cable. They're much faster to transfer. You only need to connect your imac and mbpr directly to each other using the cable. There is no need for the wifi if you connect the ethernet cable.

Is this thing a piece of junk? My MacBook Air is running fine. I've literally only charged the MacBook Pro battery a handful of times -- it's brand new.At these prices don't screw around. Just call applecare to arrange an appointment at the nearest apple store.

My older mac book pro and iMac are both running 10.6.8 and both have started running safari and email VERY slowly. My new mac book pro running 10.9 is having no issues. Is anyone else experiencing these issues?

Several questions about moving iPhoto library from PowerBook G4 to Mac Book Pro.

So yes I was running an old PowerBook G4 laptop, had moved my iPhoto library onto a 2 TB external hard drive so I could free up space on my laptop. Now that I have a new Mac Book Pro, I decided to move the library onto it. Everything seems to have moved ok, except there seems to be a bunch of duplicates, some even have multiple copies. Now this is me looking at the events, and even the names are duplicated.
Can I safely remove and delete the duplicates, or is this just showing me the same photos / events / whathave you?
Also, I noticed when looking at the photos under library, the index shows a close up of any face that is in the photo. Is there any way to turn that feature off so I don't have to look at the same photo taking up a ton of space? Makes it harder to figure if I have duplicates.decided to move the library onto it. How did you move the library to the new MBP? The correct way was to connect external HD with the library to the MBP and just copy the library into the Pictures folder. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and select the newly copied library and open it.
At no time should one library be imported into another. That created multiple duplicates and creates a real mess of the library.
