Iphoto : upload impossible to print a book

Hello,
I've tried 4 times (at least) to order a print of a book that I made with Iphoto. The problem : when I upload the book from Iphoto to send it for the print, after a while I have a message telling me that the upload stop at the middle of the work. My web connexion is working. Perhaps the pictures are too heavy but I don't know...
I just make a pdf with my book however I don't know if it's possible to send it to be printed ?
Thank you for your help.

Try these two options:
1 - move the library to another user acount on your Mac and try to order from there.
2 -  boot into Safe Mode,  Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and create a PDF preview file of your book according to this Apple document:  iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture
Be sure to proof read the PDF file for any errors, i.e. typos, photos or fonts not appearing, etc,  before ordering.  Once you're satisfied that there are no errors order your book while in Safe Mode.  Keep the PDF file for comparison to the printed copy when you receive it.

  • IPhoto upload error for printing. First two books successful. This one fails.

I have successfully developed two iPhoto books in the past, however, the third book goes through the entire process of uploading and then indicates 'error'. This book is 46 pages long which should not be a problem.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

Thank you. This solved my problem and the book uploaded successfully.
    All the best,

  • IPhoto impossible to print book

I made a photo book on iPhoto, but impossible to upload it. Always fail when i press "purchase book"
    please help

I found the solution. That was pretty stupid.
When updated iPhoto, it had de-selected the country of purchase.
Just had to go in Preferences / Advanced and select the country.

  • Printing of books, calendars and cards is impossible

    Hello,
I just discovered a big problem with iPhoto 7.1.1 (354). It is impossible to choose a book, calendar or card template. But everythin I shoul need is in the folder "iphoto" in the Library's "Application Support". What can I do?
Of course, I have made a new installation of iPhoto from the system CD, but this did not change anything.
I would really appreciate any help!
    Sincerely

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto application.
2 - delete the Themes folder in the User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder.
3 - delete all files with "iPhoto" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder.
4 - reinstall iPhoto and update to the latest version, 7.1.1.
5 - repair disk permissions with Disk Utility. NOTE: could take up to 20 or more minutes as there's a problem/bug with this process in Leopard.
6 - launch iPhoto and try printing again.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Why can't I print a book with iphoto 09?

I have a book under "keepsakes" that it says (0) next to the name of the album. But when I open it up you can see the pictures in there. I can't print the book though when I'm ready to input the number of copies that part is in gray and it won't let me choose one. I tried with another album and it doesn't work either.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Paulina,
Sorry I don't know the answer to your question, however you may have better luck posting in the iPhoto forum, click the link and it will take your there. Then repost, that forum is where the iPhoto guru's hang out if you can't get help on this forum.

  • Printing hardbound books (like Apple's iPhoto books) from Pages docs

I've printed a few hardbound books of photos from iPhoto and have been pleased with the results, particularly those from iPhoto 6.
Recently, I used Pages to lay out a book of photos, game scores, and some text for my son's baseball team. The original idea was to take the pdf file to the local Kinko's and have it printed and bound with transparent covers and plastic ring thing. But Kinko's proved unable to print my full-bleed pages, and the quality of the prints turned out to be worse than I could do with my Canon iP8600 printer at home!
Faced with the task of printing 20 copies of this 24-page book at home, I'm now wondering...can Pages documents (or pdfs) be printed by Apple's book service? If not directly, can I import the pdf file into iPhoto and print each page as a single full-bleed 'photo' using one of the iPhoto templates? I'd have to redo the layout of the Pages book to fit iPhoto's template dimensions, and that would be a LOT of additional work, so I'd like to know beforehand if it is technically possible to print the book in this manner and if Apple would obect to my doing this.
And if none of the above is possible, is there some printing service out there that would accept a pdf file from Pages and print it as a hardbound book similar to Apple's for a reasonable cost?
    Thanks!

No, kinko's does not do hardbound books, at least not here in Japan. All they offer is simple binding of loose pages. Options include plastic spiral-like binding, staples, plastic covers, and basic glue/cloth tape. Papers are whatever you bring in or whatever you print on at the shop. Results are adequate for reports and such, but not for long-term archival purposes or gifts.
As for my own book project, I ended up printing 19 copies on my 8-ink Canon printer using fairly high quality duplex paper. Took several days -- mostly because of the need to buy and install new ink cartridges every few hours (took far more ink than I had expected). The results were far better than could be done on Kinko's printers, but the cheap (not really!!) bindings did not leave a good impression. Moreover, adding the binding cost to the cost of the paper and ink brought the price of each book to over $30 -- more than it would have cost to use Apple's service.
Just after printing and binding these books, I created a 100-page iPhoto book of vacation photos. Book came back in about a week and looked superb. Showed it to the coaches -- the ones who work for printing companies -- and they were quite impressed. Still don't know why they resisted going this route for the baseball book.
Next time, if there IS a next time, I will insist upon using Apple's service.

  • When I try to print an address from Address Book on an envelope, the printer menu shows the menu from IPhoto.  All other print requests show the normal pinter menu. How do get the normal menu?

    Mike,
Are any of your other applications going wonky, or is it just Logic?
I'm afraid I've never heard of this particular problem before, but if it were happening to me the first thing I would do is delete my "com.apple.logic.express.plist" file in Library>Preferences, then repair permissions in Disc Utility, and finally restart my computer.  Then I would launch Logic and see if the problem has been corrected.  It's amazing how much these two steps can accomplish.
If that doesn't resolve the issue I would launch Logic and go to Preferences>Audio Units Manager to see if all my plug-ins are properly validated.

  • ? about image resolution/color correction when apple prints photo book

My first time making a photo book. I color correct and sharpen all of my images in Adobe Lightroom 2 first. Then I save the jpegs and import into iPhoto to make a book. Is there an option for turning off auto color correction when the file is uploaded to apple for printing? Is there an accurate way to tell how the photos will print on the specific paper they use? Also, what print resolution should the photos be set to? Is 180 dpi enough? Thanks in advance.

first read the Apple pages - http://www.apple.com/support/photoservices/preparation_tips/ - and all of its links
Second - I suspect you will be disappointed. Based on reports on these forums almost everyone who uses iPhoto exclusively to preprocess photos is extremely happy with the results. very often people you over process their photos using a third party program (including Lightroom, Photoshop, etc) are unhappy because the printing process is optimized for point and shoot cameras and iPhoto processing - it is NOT a professional desktop book process
There are no options re color correction - it is built in again aimed at sRGB, point and shoot cameras and iPhoto processing
Plus there have been reported incompatibilities between iPhoto and Lightroom
The print resolution is what it is - if it will be less than 180 dpi you will get a waarning - it can be greater
The papers they print on are specified here - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3412

  • Low Resolution when uploading to online printing service

When I upload photos from iPhoto to an online printing service (Walmart, Costco, Shutterfly) photos show up as low resolution. When I take the picture I use the higest resolution. Are there any suggestions on how to rectify this situation? I have uploaded and printed before with no problem. Do I have to use the memory stick directly to the site or change settings?
My camera is a Sony DSC-W55.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
How are you going about uploading?
Are you digging the files out of the DATA folder in the iPhoto Library Folder? If so, you're using the thumbnails that iPhoto uses for display purposes.
There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
I suggest you use the File -> Export option and export the pics to the desktop. There iPhoto will make a copy. Upload that, and when the upload is finished you can trash the copy on the desktop - your original is safe in iPhoto.

  • Picassa iPhoto uploader doesn't work in iPhoto 08 anymore

    Hi
I post some of my photos on Picassa. With iPhoto 07, no prb: I downloaded the Picassa iPhoto uploader, and from iPhoto, I used to be able to export my albums easily. But I upgraded to iPhoto 08 few days ago, and just realized there's a bug, and the Picassa uploader doesn't work anymore: after formatting the pictures, the process freezes during the 'Create Album' step, my mac fan starts to run crazy, and I have to cancel the operation. I deleted and reinstalled the uploader, same thing. I can still use the uploader to load picture in Picassa from Finder directly, but I think it was easier and sleeker to do it from iPhoto. I'm disappointed to find such a bug. Has anyone else met that problem with Picassa, or with any other uploader? Is there a solution?
    Thanks
    Laurent

You'll have to wait until Picasa and the other plugin developers update their plugins to be compatible with iPhoto 7. The ball's in their court.
