Iphoto Versions for 10.6.8

I have an Imac desktop late 2006 running Snow Leopard 10.6.8, which it seems is not suitable for upgrading to Lion. What is the latest version Iphoto that will run on my Imac and where can I get it please?  (It currently has Version 6.0.6) I can only see version11 on the app store and that needs Lion to run.

The most recent iPhoto version for Mac OS X Snow Leopard is iPhoto '11 9.2.3. iPhoto 9.3 needs OS X Lion or later, and this is why you can't purchase iPhoto '11 from the Mac App Store.
You can purchase iLife '11 at Amazon. Then, insert the disc and install iPhoto '11. Finally, open  > Software Update, and install the latest version. The library will be upgraded when you open iPhoto '11, so make a backup of the iPhoto library before opening it

  • IPhoto version for OS 10.6.8?

I upgraded to the latest version of the OS that my Mac mini will run, 10.6.8. For my trouble I seem to have a slower, less stable system although I did gain 10 Gb on the HD. But now cropping won't work in iPhoto - the image window goes black. Is it possible to buy a version of iPhoto at this point that will work right with 10.6.8?

iPhoto 08 works perfectly well with 10.6.8. it sounds more like an issue with the Library:
There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/ Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help: As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Iphoto Version for Mac OS 10.5.8

I just upgraded from 10.4 to 10.5.8 so I can sync my new iphone 4g and now my old version of iphoto won't open and I cannot access photos of my family, kids and grandkids. I am sick.
What is the oldest version of iphoto that will run on on OS 10.5.8? (need to keep this old Powerbook going as long as possible, as I lost my job). Are there places where you can find old apps of iphoto to download for free? Thanks in advance!

now my old version of iphoto won't open and I cannot access photos of my family, kids and grandkids.
If you need to, make a duplicate of the iPhoto library in the Pictures item of the Finder's sidebar and access its contents with Preview.
What is the oldest version of iphoto that will run on on OS 10.5.8?
iPhoto 4, which is part of iLife 04.
Are there places where you can find old apps of iphoto to download for free?
    No.

  • IPhoto Version for OS X 10.6.8

    Hi,
I am searching for the right Verison of iPhoto for OS X 10.6.8. Snow Leopard. I am not able to update my OS X because the 2007 MacBook Pro can't handle this. Can you please give me this information and where I can download/buy it!
    Thank you!

The thread linked to is out of date; you can't get a compatible version from the Mac App Store.
You can still buy iLife '11 from Amazon in the USA and UK, which includes iPhoto.
    USA:
    http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MC623Z-A-iLife-VERSION/dp/B003XKRZES/ref=sr_1_1?ie=U TF8&qid=1391689555&sr=8-1&keywords=ilife+%2711
    UK:

You should run Software Update once installed but before opening.

  • I cannot download photos from my digital camera to Iphoto (version '09). I have been able to successfully do this up to 4 days ago but not yesterday. My camera/device is recognized in the Source List but photos won't download for me to import to library.

I cannot download photos from my digital camera (via a cable) to Iphoto (version '09). I have been able to do this successfully up til 4 days ago but not yesterday (Dec. 25th). My camera/device is recognized in the Source List, but when it tries to download the photos, all I get are the words "Loading Photos" in the area where the thumbnail pictures usually display. The little "gear" symbol next to the words but it just goes round and round. Nothing ever downloads, and instead of showing me how many pictures there are to import it just says "No photos". So therefore I cannot import the photos to my library since they won't even download.
I was getting an error message a few days ago that my Iphoto library was getting full, so I emptied my trash in both Iphoto and on my computer. I had this same problem back in October and emptying the trash and getting rid of some photos did help (can I really be using that much storage space for the pictures?). But it didn't help this time.
Any suggestions as to what to do to solve the problem? I would try taking the SD card out and inserting that into the slot on the computer to see if I could load pictures that way; but the last time I did that, they wouldn't load. Not sure if I lost pics from the disc or not.
    Thank you,
    Novice50

    1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?

I have deleted iPhoto from my MacBook Air. When I try to reinstall it, itunes tries to charge me. Is there a way to reinstall the old version for free?

depening on what OS you're running you should be able to reinstall it without charge since it's part of the operating system. if running 10.6.8 or earlier you will need to use the applications install disc if there is one or if you only have one disc you can put it in and do a reinstall of the OS which will put the iphoto back on. if running 10.7 or 10.8 can sign into the app store w/ the same apple id that is associated w/ the mac and it should show in your purchases for you to reinstall it. you may need to click on the accept button if it appears next to the iphoto in your purchase listing.

There is no download aside from the one in the Mac App Store available to people running Mac OS X 10.6.6 and newer. The other way of getting iPhoto 9 is to purchase iLife 11 on DVD. As iLife 11 requires Mac OS X 10.6.3 or newer, it's usually best to update to 10.6.8 for free and then use the Mac App Store version.

The Early 2011 MacBook Pro shipped with Snow Leopard, so these are not the Mac App Store versions of iLife, they are the boxed software versions.
If they are in an iWork '09 folder take them out and let them loose in the Apps folder. Then reindex your HDD.

    Thanks LN.
I tried.  It would not download.  A drop down notice said an error had occurred and to return to the purchase page; which I have done on numerous occasions.  (What I am to do on the purchase page I am not sure, other than to click on purchases and see that the same iPhoto download is available.  By the way, this was not purchased.  It just showed up with two other items free items, which did download nicely.)

  • New version for iPhoto

when I try to open iPhoto its telling me  I need the new vresion of iso, when i click brings me to another page but no download instructions or download tab

I downloaded the upgrade then followed the instructions and the same instruction to upgrade comes up every time I try to open the app.
Are you talking about upgrading the iPhoto application or upgrading the iPhoto Library?
You have to do two things.
Upgrade the iPhoto application to version iPhoto 0.6.1.
Upgrade the iPhoto Library to version 9.6.1.
If you are receiving upgrade instructions, you are probably upgrading from version 7.1.2 or earlier.
Then you need to download the iPhoto Library Upgrader (iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrader)  and install it and run it.
if you got prompted to download it, did you run the installer and then launch the installed upgrader from the folder "Applications > Utilities" and then run it and select the iPhoto Library for upgrading. Have you done that?

  • I can't share photos on iPhoto (version 9.6) for Macbook Pro

I have been sharing photos on iPhoto version 9.6 regularly from my Macbook Pro (running Yosemite 10.10.1).  Today I tried to share a photo and all of the six share options at the top of the screen (messages, Mail, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) are greyed out.  Any thoughts on how to fix this?

    What have you already checked?
You need to have photos selected
The mac needs to be connected to the internet.
In the iPhoto Preferences > Accounts pane need accounts to be added.

  • How can i view and upload photos from an older version of iPhoto which are on an external hard drive to my new iMac?  i currently have copied the application version 9.4.2. on my lacie backup and want to view and upload this to my new iPhoto version 9.5.1

our old iMac died suddenly, but i had backed up the iPhoto application to a lacie external hard drive.   however, when i try to open it in my new iMac which is installed with version 9.5.1 and is upgraded to maverick, it comes up with “cannot be opened, to open you must upgrade to latest version” and then makes you press the quit button.
the iPhoto version on the external hard drive is iPhoto 9.4.2 which i upgraded on 29/11/12 onto our old iMac (early 2007 version)
my new iMac is running on version OSX 10.9.1
i have looked at buying  iphoto library manager and have emailed them about whether this would work, but any advice would be gratefully received as i cannot be the only person that has had this problem but i cannot find any answers that work.
    thanks
    Julie

YOu can rebuild with Library Manager and this does not require a purchase:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I cannot open iPhoto after latest apple upgrade.  Getting message latest iPhoto version is not available in the US.

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
