I can get my music, movies and tv shows to play through my apple tv, but I cannot see my photo stream on my apple tv. What can I do to get my photos to show up on the TV?
I have a mac and wireless internet.Because you've got music and movies streaming to your Apple TV, I know you've authorized Home Sharing under the file menu of iTunes. But under that same iTunes file menu you must also go to the "Home Sharing" pull-down and select "Choose Photos to Share With Apple TV". You can select All photos, or just specific albums. Maybe worth saying again that this is done from iTunes and not iPhoto.
If you've already done this and still no photos on AppleTV, check to see that your photo file names (previously imported into iPhoto) have valid suffixes (such as photo.jpg). Without that valid suffix, iPhoto on your Mac will show the photo just fine (courtesy of the hidden Type Code embedded in the photo file), but AppleTV will not.
Good luck and let me know if either of these worked. -

Recently purchased a MB pro retina and I want to transfer my photos, docs and music from my MB Pro 2009. Can someone please help me. I greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
You have a few options available. You can connect the two using Firewire and transferring via Target Disk Mode. If this isn't feasible, then you can connect each to your local network and transfer your files over the network. Be sure to enable File Sharing on each via the Sharing preferences panel.
If you cannot use Target Disk Mode, then you can transfer your data from the old computer to an external USB drive. When finished connect the drive to the new computer and restore the data to the appropriate, respective locations. This is more reliable and faster than using your network.
TDM will require you to purchase a Firewire adaptor for the new computer's Thunderbolt port. -

Macbook pro/snow leopard cannot see photos on iphone 4 ios7 and therefore cannot download
Since installing a new hard drive, my macbook pro 2009 / snow leopard shows no photos on my iphone (when there are 147). I have not had a problem with downloading photos previously. Any help appreciated.
TimHave you synced the phone with iTunes on the Mac? Have you installed all system updates? iOS7 only works with later versions of iTunes & the OS.
iPhoto should allow you to see the pictures & import them from the phone. The other option is 'Image Capture' application. It should be in the Applications folder.
You may also need to unlock the passcode to show the device on the Mac. -
I have downloaded and installed Photoshop Elements 11 on my new Macbook Pro. Why can't I see my scanner (Epson Perfection 3200 Photo) from the File>Import menu?
There was no driver update available (it said my driver was up to date), so I just deleted the scanner and restarted the computer. when it came up, the scanner had already been added again. With great anticipation I tried to import from Photoshop...but no luck (scanner was not visible). I finally ended up calling Epson (had great difficulty in locating a number for support) and they finally told me there is no driver update for OS X 10.10 and I should as a work around use "Image Capture" application. I tried it, and it works quite well.

I need to minimize the space photos take on my MacBook Pro OSx 10.7. They are in iPhoto, Aperture, Pictures/Photo Library, etc. Are they taking space in all of these locations?
Are they taking space in all of these locations?
It depends on how you are using iPhoto and Aperture.
iPhoto and Aperture each create their own library files, and the default location for them is in /users/youruseraccount/Pictures
You can configure iPhoto and Aperture to use the same Library file, in which case your photos are only stored once. But if you are using iPhoto & Aperture with independent library files, you may in fact be duplicating your storage.
The second consideration is whether or not you have configured iPhoto and/or Aperture as reference libraries, in which case their library files only reference photos you have stored in other places on your hard drive. Setting them up as reference libraries does not duplicate the photos inside the library files. -
Transfer photos and music to a new macbook pro using time machine
Help! I backed up my old macbook pro to an external drive using time machine. I want to transfer all of the photos and music to my new macbook pro, but it says I don't have permission. I can't get permission from the old mac because it won't turn on! I brought it to the genius bar and they couldn't turn it on either. They suggested I take it to Staples to get the files off.
Julie,
Probably because you used a different account name than you had on the old one. Create a new account with the same name you had when you created the backup and run Migration Assistant. Migration Assistant is in Applications / Utitlities and you create the user by clicking the Apple icon, then System Preferences, Users & Groups. -
I have an early 2008 and mid 2010 13 inch macbook pro running iTunes 10.7. Itunes on both machines doesn't recognize blank cds or allow me to import from a music cd when I insert it.
iTunes does not use the .xml it uses the .itl
If you are sure your old library file migrated across (does the file size and modification dates suggest it has?) start iTunes while holding down the option/alt key and guide it to the .itl file to get it to use that one. -
I currently have iPhoto 8.1.2 on my macbook pro and am trying to update to the latest version. I have had to work backward, but I can only get back to 9.1, which will not install because it says I need at least 9.0 to install it. Is 9.0 available? Will I need to go back even further? Thanks
Upgrading from iPhoto 8 to iPhoto 9 requires a purchase. There are two ways to get to iPhoto 9:
1 - purchase a copy of the iLife 11 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com or eBay.com.
2 - if your MBP meets the requirements upgrade you system for free to Mavericks. Then you can purchase the latest iPhoto version, 9.5.1, from the App Store.

how do i transfer my itunes account (with all my music, photos and ipad apps) from a macbook pro to a new macbook air?
thanks but exactly how do I do this. I tried setting the new macair up using migration assistant but for some reason not everything has come through. I bought a thunderbolt cable to improve the transfer rate.
Now my question is how do I transfer the iTunes folder. I have authorised the new macair for iTunes and am within the 5 computer limit.
