Ipod 30G is blank

Help! My 6 month old Ipod 30GB Video was working just fine 1 hour ago. It was fully charged this morning and I didn't drop it, didn't put it underwater, throw it or anything--just paused it while I was in a meeting. Now the screen is dark and won't light up when I try to charge or connect to my computer. I've tried re-setting, toggleing hold and anything else I can find to try but the screen stays dark. NOTHING lights up--no Apple, no charging symbol, no menu. What can I do? I leave for a 30 day trip next week and need my ipod. Thanks

I tried just letting the ipod charge on a charger for about 3 hours. Then I tried another reset and lo and behold it reset and seems to work fine now. BTW--the battery wasn't down--it was fully charged this morning. Don't know why letting it just charge for awhile worked.

  • 5th Generation Ipod 30G

Hey there ipod users. I am going to upgrade this wekk to an ipod 30g. I was wondering what your opinions are about iskinz. I have heard mixed things about the skins. Such as, they can make the ipod stay too hot, and that they really don't protect, you should get a silicone case! Can someone steer me in the right direction please. I have had my mini for over 2 years and I have tried everything to salvage it. So time for a new one. Also, when I purchase this ipod and plug it into my computer will my music just go right onto it? Thanks for all of your help!

I spent the 25 bucks for an Apple iSkin and I am very happy with it. It completely covers and protects the iPod (30G video) and allows me to use it and update it and recharge it without removing the skin. I got red, but I kind of wish I had gotten the hot pink. I wanted to share my iPod with grandchildren ages 3 - 7 (the 3 year old loves the Little Einstein videos) and keep it safe from sticky, sometimes clumsy hands. It really works for me.

  • ITunes 7.0.1 & iPod 30G video--freeze while trying to synch/update.

I updated to iTunes 7, and then to 7.0.1 a few days ago. I have had no problems downloading/uploading (other than the fact that downloads are much slower than in version 6) or playing music or videos in iTunes 7 or 7.0.1, however, I have been unable to synch my 30GB video iPod with iTunes. I haven't been able to upload any of my new downloads since going to iTunes 7 or 7.0.1--frustrating! I plug in my iPod, iTunes starts up, it starts the synch, and within seconds I get the spinning beach ball of death. The progress bar stops moving at about 1/3 of the way across. I don't get any error messages, it just freezes. I left it for over an hour and no progress. I have to force quit iTunes, usually twice, to get it to stop, and then when I try to eject my iPod I get a message saying the iPod is in use by another user. I rebooted my iPod, to no avail.
The second aspect of this issue is that I didn't update my iPod to 1.2--assuming that has anything to do with present problems, but maybe not--before I updated iTunes, and now I can't. Since iTunes freezes when I have the iPod plugged in, I can't access the iPod preferences menu, can't update, nothing...
I am a new iPod user, and am by no means techno savvy, so please forgive me if I am overlooking the major and obvious. I have spent a lot of time combing various forums/discussions, and haven't found any answers. Any help appreciated!

  • Why is my ipod touchs screen blank?, why is my ipod touchs screen blank?

Why is my ipod touchs screen blank?

how do you mean? does it not turn on? or is it on but nothing booting up?
If it doesn't turn on is it possible that the battery is totally drained? if so, charge it fora  while and see if that fixes it. If it doesn't boot up you can try resetting it - hold down the sleep and home keys, past the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple logo come up.
You can also try restoring it with iTunes.
If that doesn't work then you may need to take it into the Apple store and have them take a look at it.

  • My ipod has a blank screen and the computer won't see it

Ok, I have an ipod video that I just got from the apple repair shop about a week ago, and it's not working at all. I'm pretty sure I got a virus on it from a song, but I can't do anythign because the computer won't read it. It's had plenty of charge, I had it plugged into the wall for hours and then plugged it into my computer and it doesn't even read it, and when it's plugged in I can't even open iTunes. Anyone else having this problem?

  • IPod 30g video photo storage question

Can I use iPod 30g video as my iPhoto backup? My question is, does it store original photo full size? Do I have to resize my photos before I send them to my iPod? I only need less than 10g for my music, the rest I plan to use for photos. Thanks Alex

You are correct, the iPod does NOT come with a charger, most of us here are disappointed with that, that would be an extra $30 out of your pocket to get. Yes USB is the cable it uses. You can charge it through the computer or (if you have the adapter) through an outlet, via usb. As far as the iPod mini connection, I think it may be different, but I could be wrong, never owned one I'll look into that.
Actually I don't want to say anything, I really don't know, lol, and you are welcome Alex good luck with your iPod and enjoy .

  • I can't put videos on ipod 30g

    Hello:
I have an ipod 30g but I can't transfer videos from my computer to the ipot only the videos that I buy from itunes, and I bought the quick time 7 pro to convert my videos but it dosen't work or maybe I don't know how to do it, can any one help me with that?
    Thanks

As Jeff pointed out, the Videora iPod Converter (free) is a Windows specific application that you should probably install if for no other reason that to convert "muxed" (single audio/video stream multimedia) formats. However, since you have already paid for QT Pro, I don't suggest you simply toss it away. While QT Pro is very slow when using the dedicated "Movie to iPod (320x240)" export option, it can also be used with the "Movie to MPEG4" manual preset collection to enter settings which can be much faster. In addition, QT Pro employs a gernerally "tight" compression strategy which may come in handy with some movie content. Basically, different converters work somewhat differently and sometimes one works better than another with a particular movie or if a single application is used, will need to be "tweaked" to operate at its best. So it is always a good idea to have more than one converter available if needed. After a fair amount of use you will likely gravitate to one application for general use based on the file types you use most often and their content.

  • When I'm on Instagram viewing pics, after about 5-10 minutes my Ipod will go blank....I tried resetting and it still do the same thing....Help!!

When I'm on Instagram for about 5-10 minutes my Ipod will go blank/reset for out of no where.  It does this consistently, please help!!!

    Try:
iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store
    - Contact the developer/go to their support page.
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

3 If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    4  Try on another computer
5  If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod 30G not connecting to iTunes

    Okay.
My iPod 30G Video is not connecting to iTunes. It is not showing up in the 'source panel'. It froze the the day after I bought it and I had to reset it. It froze two days later and it took about 45 min of resetting it to get it to where it is now: plays songs fine; cannot connect to iTunes; when I attach the iPod to my PC the 'do not disconnect' appears.
Anybody run in to this problem?

Well I tried to restore it as well but an error message kept popping up (on my PC). Mind you, I tried this at work; I'll try later to-night at home.
    Thanks for the response!

  • Ipod Touch went blank while updating apps

ipod touch went blank while updating new apps i was updating enigmo it was syncing with itunes using windows then itunes got hanged and ipod touch also
now its screen is black and i tried to reboot it but cant i press all buttons nothign happening and ipod is very hot even though its not connected to itunes any one can help me?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.
