My Center button on my Ipod 3rd generation is not working? What do i do it still goes up and down just doesnt select anything.
What I had to was backup my device's data to either iCloud or iTunes. Once it was backed up I erased all of my settings as if my iPad just came out of the box. You set it up again and it will asked you to either start as new, back up from iTunes, or back up from ICloud. If you want to see if everything works you can set up as new, otherwise just pick the choice depending on where you backed up your information. Eventually it will restore all of your information and your iMessage and FaceTime should be working. It worked for me, if you'd like more/better instructions let me know!!

My iPod is not being read by iTunes. What do I do to be able to sync my iPod if iTunes is not starting the setup wizard for the iPod when it is connected to a Dell PC? I am new the iTunes and iPods.
Hello, BAHannebaum.
The article below should resolve any device not being recognized in iTunes issue that you are experiencing. The most common issues are the Apple Mobile Device Support driver or iTunes is outdated. Start with the first step and test the results after each step processed.

+Do a DFU recovery:+
+1. Open iTunes.+
+2. Connect the iPhone+
+3 Press both the home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple icon appears (ignore the red slider if it shows).+

My 3rd gen iPod nano is not being read by my iTunes on my mac. When going to sync, the mac screen says "no name". Also I believe I lost all the music on the iPod. When turned on it says "Welcome" as if it is new. I tried to copy all my music into the "no name" folder and then sync. The iPod said it was "syncing".
So does iTunes see the iPod or not? I couldn't quite understand from your post as you said it wasn't, but then said that the iPod was syncing...

Ipod shuffle generation 2 not being recognized at all
I just bought a ipod shuffle generation 2, and i went ahead and installed itunes 7.02. I then connected the ipod, but windows did not ask me to install any new software. I then went to Device Manager and looked to see if the ipod was being recognized, and it shows up as a yellow question mark called unknown device. I tried to reinstall the drivers, but when windows does a driver scan, it says the following...
"The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software"
The ipod worked on my dads laptop, but my will not computer doesn't want to recognize the ipod at all. The ipod did not come with any software, so I am trying to use itunes 7.02 as it requires. If anyone would be willing to try and help me, I would be very grateful. I'm running windows xp pro.I have no idea what Dell or Apple told you, so we'll start from the beginning.
First read this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136 I am assuming since you talked to Dell your USB Driver is up-to-date. Reload your USB Driver anyway follwing the steps in this article.
Next disconnect any USB Device you have connected other than your keyboard and mouse.
Connect your iPod to a USB port on the rear of your computer and see if your computer can recognize it. If it can, right click on the iPod and change the driver letter to a higher letter (M or P) and then reformat your iPod (FAT32 format).
If iTunes can now see your iPod, Restore it. -

Exactly How To Sync Rented Movies to iPod 3rd Generation Nano?
I've been looking all around these boards for over an hour and there are definitely topics about the rental movies and the different iPods they will sync with etc etc... I'm having the same troubles a lot of others are, like my rented movies won't show up in the Movies tab. I even dragged the picture of the rented movie to my iPod icon but only the picture moves and nothing else.
*So please, I just need a step by step account of how to sync the movies I rent from iTunes to my 3rd generation iPod nano.* Thank you in advance. You can't. iCloud is only compatible with iOS devices running iOS 5 or later.

Hi there,
Hoping someone can help me with this before I finally give in and send this nano in.
I have a 4gig nano which I am connecting to windows. I have the latest itunes and the latest update to my nano.
Here's what's happening:
- When the nano connects to the computer, itunes launches, but the ipod doesn't show up in itunes.
- the nano shows under windows explorer
- the nano can be updated by the update software
I've tried the following:
- Reinstalling itunes
- Reinstalling the ipod service
- Resetting the ipod
- Reformating the nano via windows explorer
And here's the kicker...
I am able to connect another ipod nano with exactly the same software and specs (its just white instead of black) to the PC and have it work fine.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance. My nano was doing this as well. I would connect it, itunes would launch, but the ipod was not showing up in the source list.
I resolved the issue by closing itunes the first time when it auto launched, resetting the ipod while connected to the computer, and letting itunes relaunch. usually the ipod was seen once itunes relaunched. If not I would shut itunes, reset the ipod again, and ipod would show under source list once it came back up.
