Ipod 4th Gen: I updated my OS to the latest. But before i update it, i backup all the files, because the music and photos there is very important to my mom. then after i backup it i updated it then when its done i can no longer see my music files. please help

Synced media like aps and music are not included in the iPod backup that iTunes makes.
If the songs are not in your iTunes library then:
- You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
- For other music you will have to get it from where you got them before

I do not really understand what you are doing to get them from the iPod to the computer.
First import them to the computer by:

The sync them to the the other device

Need help changing location of music files on my compute

I purchased a separate hard drive to store my itunes music files. I copied the music from the default location on my hard drive to the new hard drive. How do I change the path on the iTunes site to the new hard drive location?

Also, you might consider giving your exHD a letter pretty far down in the alphabet, so when you plug in other USB devices, the drive letter won't change in Windows. That can cause itunes to lose the path to your music with the ! file not found message.

Need help organize the actual music Files

On my hard drive I have a number of random music files download from Itunes or ripped from CDs. Is there a way to automatically organize these files into folders by group / album etc. I thought I was able to before -

my iphone wasn't synch regularly and i usually doing manually transferring photos and music to my computer.
now, i lost some of my recent photos, messages, and ALL my downloaded/purchased apps and files in my iPhone after software update.
Is there any way i can retrieve it? Please Help..

Your data is only where you put it. It is your responsibility to backup your content.
Nothing should only be on the iPhone.
Everything should live on your computer/cloud service. The iPhone just allows it to be portable.
As provided, you can redownload some iTunes purchases in some countries.

HELP! Ipod 4th gen. Not working! Need help fast!

My ipod 4th gen, died, and when I went to charge it. It showed the screen where the usb cord has an arrow above it pointing to the itunes symbol. I plugged in my ipod to my laptop, went on itunes, and there was no device recognized. And no pop up thing about the device, or restoring the device. I looked up sooo many things and nothing has helped me. I really need help, and fast! REMINDER: Im only 14, and dont have the money to take in my ipod to get it fixed, or to buy a new device. - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

So I have an iPod 4th gen,
I bought off of ebay. Since my original one was knocked into a bowl of water...:( anyways...
and the original owner did a factory reset on the device or erased all of the data... since
now when i turn the ipod on it pulls up a screen (center of it)
with a white usb charger cord, and an arrow pointing to the itunes logo.
also when i try to find the device in itunes it is not appearing.
Ive never had any issues like this before so I am really confused and kinda clueless lol

HT201412 Can't restore iPod 4th gen, HELP!!!

Hi! I can't restore my iPod 4th gen. because it will not show up under "devices" on iTunes! I plug my iPod into my computer, and a little stop sign comes up telling me my iPod is locked with a passcode and needs to be unlocked. Heres the catch: my iPod has a erratic/unresponsive touch screen! I can't shut it down or unlock it! So ultimately the devices column does NOT show up. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRICIATED!

And, thanks for reading my question. I recently purchased an IPOD 4th GEN touch from Gamestop. I previously had an ipod that was stolen a few years ago. I had 2000 songs on my itunes and just haven't used it till now.
When I bought the IPOD I ensured that my itunes and ipod were using the most current software. However, it is not synching my music. It will let me start to synch and then go through steps 1&2 of a five step process before it tells me that itunes has encountered a problem and must shut down. There is no specific code it gives me it just asks whether I'd like to send an error report or not.
I have ensured my firewall was off. I restarted the IPOD and computer, and still nothing. Same error message and itunes shuts off. I have installed the latest updates to bonjour and quicktime, restarted, and still no remedy.
I was tempted to uninstall everything but am afraid of losing my music. Only 30-40 songs are in my icloud. I imported the other songs to itunes a long time ago.
Does anyone know how I can get these songs on my ipod? Thanks in advance for any help and Happy New Year to all...

You probably need to set up automatic syncing. If you do not set it up, it will still "sync" but it will sync nothing.
In iTunes 12, select the iPod so that you see its Summary settings screen (click the "device button" on horizontal bar). In the iPod's sidebar, under Settings, click Music. To the right is the iPod's Music settings screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync your iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music. This enables automatic syncing for songs. Below that, if your entire iTunes library fits on your iPod, you can choose the option to sync Entire music library.
Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres. Then, select what you want to sync from the lists below. On convenient way to set this up is to create one or more playlists in your iTunes library with songs just for the iPod. Or you can use existing playlists. On the iPod's Music settings screen, find and select (checkmark) just those playlists under Playlists.
When you click Apply, iTunes syncs your iPod with your selection(s) on the iPod's Music settings screen, and keeps it "in sync" automatically.

Check for hardware issues
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the alert when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
Common errors: 1, 10-47, 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1000-1020.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
