IPod Backup

Is there a program where I can backup my entire iPod, playlists and all. I want to maintain the playlists. Im not concerned with pulling individual songs and importing them in iTunes, i have all my songs in iTunes. I just dont want to lose my playlists on the iPod. A program that will make maybe an image file and then i can restore the ipod and go back and import that image into the iPod and it will pick up right where i left off with playlists and all? I know Senuti will import my songs but not the playlists, which like i said i have all the songs already in iTunes.
Any help will be appreciated.

Well what you can do to take a picture of your playlists is to take a screen shot of them. Then save them to like a word document. To take a screen shot press these: crtl+printscreen(Top right of your keyboard) and it will take the screen shot then open up a word document and right-click and click paste. You should see a screen shot, so open up iTunes go thru each one of your playlists and take separate screen shots of each one of them. Then just save the word doc. and then you have your playlists if you ever need them

  • Ipod backup ran for 20 hrs

My ipod backup keeps running, last time I let it run for 20hrs before killing it. How do I skip the backup step, I don't need a backup - all my songs are on my computer and the iTunes are backed up. Backing my iPod does not make sense. Also, clicking the little icon next to the progress bar did not work either. Ultimately, had to kill the sync process and force a shutdown of iTunes. I have not been able to sync my new purchases from iTunes to my iPod in over a month now because of this issue.

You really can't. Try resolving the backup problem.'

Where are iTunes backups stored on your computer
The folder where your backup data is stored depends on the computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your data-backup routine. iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
    Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press Return.

  • Can you restore an iPhone from an iPod backup?

    Hi Everybody,
I plan on buying an iPhone 4S (64 GB Black) on Friday, and have been using an iPod Touch 2nd Generation (8 GB) for over a year and a half. I love my iPod, and have a lot of pictures, data from apps, et cetera stored on it, and I would obviously want them on my shiny new iPhone, running the way they did on my iPod. I am especially concerned with game progress, as I love my iPod as a gaming machine and hope that my progress would transfer over to my iPhone.
I'm wondering if I will have the option of "restoring" my new iPhone from the iPod backup. This would save me a LOT of time.
If so, how much of the data would sync over? Would it be literally everything?
Lastly, would data from apps I've deleted also be synced over to the iPhone? I have way more than 8 GB worth of apps, and I've deleted some of them along the way. They're still stored on my computer, but no longer on my iPod. Would their data be on the iPhone if I reinstalled them on my iPhone?
The iPod touch is running iOS 4.2.1, and the iPhone will be running iOS 5.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my question, and I hope you can help! It's certainly appreciated!
    Colin W.

When I got my iPhone 4 earlier this year, I was able to select my 2G Touch's backup to transfer all my app data, preferences, etc. over to the iPhone.  There's no guarantee this will work with iOS 5 and iPhone 4S, but I don't see why not.
But assuming that is will work as in the past, during the iPhone setup process you will be prompted to either set it up as a new device or from a backup. If you select your Touch's backup then all the settings and preferences you've set on the Touch will be applied to the iPhone (minus passwords, for security reasons).  If you have any media (apps, music, etc.) in your library that are not currently on your Touch, all you need to do is tweak your iPhone's sync settings to pick additional (or different) items.
However, one caveat that I learned from my experience -- As the iPhone setup proceeds, it will get to a point where everything's set up, but it has not sync'd anything yet (I think by default it will wait until you click the Sync button). Before you sync the iPhone to your library, eject the iPhone and go into the iPhone's settings and sign into your iTunes account, then re-connect to iTunes and then sync your content. If you don't sign in before syncing you may get error 13 (that drove me batty until I figured this out).
Also, if you're going to continue using the Touch, then I'd recommend re-naming your iPhone after it is set up so that subsequent backups of the two devices are easily distinguished from each other, in case someday you want to restore from a backup.

  • Where does my ipod backup go?

    Hey guys,
everytime I connect my ipod to my computer, it backs up
I dont want this to happen anymore becasue i now have very less space on my Home Backup E and i do not want to fill it with my ipod backup.
So can you guys please tell me where my ipod backs up to so i can delete previious backups and can you guys also tell me how to turn the backing up option off?

You can set your backup into iCloud which is a online data saving place. Once you your iDevice connected to iTunes, you will see a thing that says the name of the ipod, go there and go to "Summary". It offers a thing that says Automatically Backup, select iCloud.
There you go. If there is a way to change so no backup occurs, I do not know it! Hopefully this works!

  • How to import ipod backup file into itunes

hi. accidentally all of my itunes library was removed. i have the files still but they are very unorganized & mostly .wav format so that if i just paste them back into itunes i'll have to label all of them. there's an xml file called "ipod backup" that i found in my itunes music folder but i don't know how to use it. is there any way i could use this file to restore my library and tags? thanks, emily

Open iTunes. On the left you will see a Ringtones category. Open it. Drag the .mr4 file there. It will tell you the length of it, etc. You can then sync it into your iPhone.

  • IPod backup/recovery issues

Okay, so my iCloud storage on my iPod Touch 4G was full, and I didn't want to buy any more storage, so I decided to back it up to my iMac. I created a backup for my iPod, and I think it backed up, but I'm not quite sure. Then, I saw there was a software update for iOS 6.0.1, so I got that, and walked away from the computer for awhile. When I came back, iTunes had displayed a message saying, "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes."
I certainly do NOT want to restore it, because I will loose all of my settings, game data, and most importantly, my Photos. I don't know if the iPod is backed up or not, and I don't want to risk restoring my iPod.
    Help!

If you backed up to iTunes go to iTunes?Preferences>Devices and the date of the backup will be listed.
To look at date of the an iCloud backup yo have to haver a device signed into that iCloud account and then go to Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup. You make have to got to Manage Storage and tap on the iPod backup.

  • I never made a password to restore iPod backup? HELP PLEASE!!!!!

A few months ago I dropped my iPod touch and the screen cracked. I knew I would have to send it off to be repaired so to ensure that I wouldn't lose anything I had on it such as music/apps/photos etc. I backed it up on my itunes. Today I got a brand new iPod to replace my old broken one. I went to restore the backup onto the new iPod but when I clicked on 'Restore Backup...' it said 'Enter the password to unlock your iPod backup.' But I never made a password when i backed up my iPod. I tried my Apple ID password, various passcodes that I've used for my iPod and the numbers 0000, 1111 and 9999 that were recommended when I researched online and none of them were valid. I have no clue what the password is as I never made one for the backup. I now have no way of restoring everything from my old iPod to my new iPod. If anyone could tell me how to figure out what the password is or if there is a password that works it would be very helpful!

Thanks for the reply! How do i get everything that is on my itunes into the backup file that is needed for the password unlocker?

  • I forget my ipod backup password on itunes

i whant to desactive ipod's backup but it need paassword and i forgot it! what should i do to fix it?

What does "desactive" mean in " desactive ipod's backup"?
If you created an encrypted iPod backup and forgot the password you assigned, you can restore from that backup. I order to make a backup in the future for yo iPod you will have to restore the iPod from factory settings/new iPod.
Warning: If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and then forget your password, you will not be able to restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable. If you forget the password, you can continue to back up and use the device, however you will not be able to restore the encrypted backup to any device without the password. You do not need to enter the password for your backup each time you back up or sync.
If you cannot remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore, choose set up as a new device."
