IPod keeps reseting and is not recognized by my computer

I plug in my ipod and the copmuter tells me that the disk is not recognized and gives the options of initializing, ignoring, or reseting. And then when I unplug it, the iPod just turns on and off showing the apple logo. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

This message appears when OS X thinks the iPod hard disk is corrupt. You can click "initialize" which will erase the iPod contents, then use the iPod updater to restore it in the normal manner.

  • Ipod Touch Frozen and Unresponsive, not recognized by Macbook

My Ipod Touch suddenly froze and stopped working. I have a black screen, tried the Ipod "reset" by holding both buttons for at least 10 sec. The apple symbol comes on, then the screen goes back to black. Tried this both connected and not connected to my MacBook. Ipod is not recognized when attached to USB by Itunes or MacBook. I downloaded the current version of iTunes with the same results. Please help.

I would try and put the touch into a recovery mode.
    1. Start iTunes
    2. Unplug the touch and try to turn it off (hold the sleep/wake button until you see the red slider and turn it off. This may not work so go to step 3)
    3. Hold down the Home button and, while continuing to hold the button down, plug the touch USB cable back into your computer.
    4. Continue to hold the button down until iTunes responds with "an iPod has been detected in Recovery mode". Follow the onscreen instructions and restore the device.

  • IPod keeps blinking and does not start up!

    Hi,
I braught an iPod of model number A1236 a year back. And did not use it for past 6 months.
Yesterday, I tried connecting it and it was working fine. Unfortunately, I just pulled off the USB cable without a safe remove of USB from windows or an eject from iTunes.
From that time, whenever I connect my iPod to my windows XP pro machine, the screen keeps blinking with the apple logo. Niether its recognized as USB device by windows nor iTunes recognizes it.
I tried, the troubleshooting steps provided in apple iPod technical site, none of them helped and I am also not able to put the iPod to disk mode.
I am not sure whats to be done next and I am afraid if I spoiled my iPod. Please suggest what to do next..
    Thanks,
    Jade

  • Updated my Windows 8 and updated Itunes to newest versions and now my Ipod 7th Generation Nano is not recognized on my computer or Itunes anymore. I have went thru all steps instructed and offered here so what else can I do?

Recently have updated my Windows 8 and updated Itunes to mose recent version available. My Ipod 7th Generation Nano worked, connected and synced without difficulty prior to this updating, Now when I plug into my computer it will pop up Itunes but say that this Ipod is not recognized. I have done multiple steps offered to try and nothing has worked. Any other suggestions would be helpful. I just got this Ipod for Christmas and now can't even use it to sync content anymore.

Try a different cable. And are you connecting directly to your computer or through a USB hub?

  • 120gb ipod keeps resetting and skipping tracks

I just recently bought a brand new 120gb ipod adn all of the sudden it is skipping down tracks in the middle of a song and it also resets on its own...i will be searching through my artist list and it will all the sudden reset and go back to the apple logo then it is fine for a while until it does ti again...i have tried the five r's and am feeling angry that this keeps happening...if anyone has any suggestions or an answer for that matter it would be gratly appreciated..

I just bought a new macbook pro and got the 120gb ipod with it for $20 after the rebate. i downloaded all my songs onto the new computer and then synced them with the new ipod. the songs would play all the way through but the ipod started skipping in the middle of the song to go to the next song. so it would play though a whole bunch of songs, then halfway through one, it would skip to the next. at first i thought it was a corrupt song so i pressed the previous button to see if the song would play all the way though and the song wound up playing completely and then move onto the next song. it began to do it more frequently so i brought it to the apple store and they swapped it for a new one. i just synced the ipod again and its skipping again. I took my old 30gb ipod and synced it to the same exact itunes library so both ipods mirrored each other and the 120gb still skips but the 30gb doesnt. so i have no idea what is going on with the 120gb ipod but i want to find a solution to this problem before my warranty runs out. can anyone please help?

  • TS1410 My ipod nano 3rd gen. is not recognized by my computer or itunes.  Support page does not help.

My macbook is not recognizing my 3rd gen. ipod nano after I reset the ipod.  THe finder not itunes recognizes it.  Can someone help?

If you have not already, disconnect the iPod and restart your Mac.  Do this to Reset the iPod.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320
Once the Mac restarts, run iTunes and connect the iPod.
If that does not help, try putting the iPod into Disk Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363
then, connect it to the Mac running iTunes.  It's possible that iTunes will tell you that you need to Restore the iPod.

  • My 3rd generation ipod touch shut off but now won't charge and is not recognized by my computer. All it shows is the black screen with the apple logo. It did this once before and after letting it sit for a day it charged. I tried this again but nothing.

My ipod touch 3rd generation shut off when the battery died.  When i tried to charge it but it would not charge and it wasn't recognized by my laptop. This happened once before and it charged after sitting for a day. So I tried it again but it didn't work. I don't know if it is still covered, I got it last july as a replacement for one that broke. Help!! Please!!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod nano gen 6 is not recognized in my computer nor iTunes, but it is recognized in other computers and iTunes

Neither my computer nor iTunes recognize my new nano. I've tried the troubleshooting suggestions on this site. I've reinstalled iTunes many times. Every now and then I could reset the nano and iTunes would state it needs to "prepare to restore" it. I've even left it connected overnight hoping the process will complete. Nothing worked. However, I tried connecting it to my friend's computer, and both the computer and iTunes recognize the nano. I tried it again at home, but neither my computer nor iTunes recognize it. Please help!

I'm having this issue as well.  I updgrade my CPU to one with Windows 8.  At soon as I connect my iPod Classic, it connect momentarily & then immediately eject it.

  • I forgot my 4 number code I can edit home, keyboard and location BUT can't open restrictions, or reset. I need to do a total reset and have not connected to my computer.i would  like to keep my ebooks .

i Want to clean out my iPad and bring back App Store and YouTube they disappeared. I am not computer literate.

IIf you forgot your restrictions passcode, you have to restore your devoce using iTunes and you will totally erase the device. There is no way around it. if by some chance you have a backup that does not contain the passcode that you can't remember, you can restore that backup to remove the passcode. Otherwise, restore as new.
You will have to download your eBooks again. If you are purchasing books for the iBooks store, most of those can be downloaded again at no charge as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought them with - and as long as they are still available in the iBooks Store.

Is iTunes up do date on your PC (currently at 10.7)?
Have you tried connecting to another PC or Mac?

My 6th gen nano ipod stopped working. I figured it was because it was next to my sweaty body, so put it in rice. I sought help from internet and tried all of the troubleshooting steps; i.e pushing down the power button and the volume down button consecutively, plugging it in to a power source, waiting 10 minutes and pushing the buttons while it was plugged in. Nothing has worked thus far. Is there anything else that I can try?
