Ipod mini transfer problem

Hi my problem is that when my ipod mini gets filled to 1.39GB it will either not transfer anymore songs from itunes or just crash and its a 6GB mini.I have tried reformating my ipod with every kind of updater there is and still it does not work.I also tried the check disk method and nothing worked and also tried other software for importing songs to the ipod yet still nothing has worked but it is still recognized by itunes and my pc.Can anybody help? thanks

I have the same problem with my ipod mini. It gets filled up at around 4 G and it is a 6 GB ipod. It was working fine and one day I turned it on and I had no songs on it. Tried to restore the songs. Restore ipod everything updated... and it gets filled up at 4 GBs.Can there be a song that blocks the ipod. Maybe the album art of some songs are to big I have no idea? What can i do about it?
Thanks for any help.

  • IPOD MINI&UPDATER PROBLEM!! THIS IS NOT NORMAL!!

    Hello guys
I just downloaded the newest iPod updater 2006-01-10 for my brother's iPod mini. There was an update necessary. So then I install it, plug the iPod into my computer, and it determines that update is necessary. So I then update it. Normal routine. But when it says "please leave the iPod connected while it reboots" or something of that sort, it stays like that. Its not frozen, and Windows still responds. When I try to exit the program, it says "Can't interrupt process." So then I just remove the Mini from with Safely Remove Hardware. Now here's where it gets spookier and weirder. After I disconnect the Mini, I try to play a song. It plays. I try to forward to the next song. It doesn't! I try to rewind to the last song. It doesn't!! I reset the iPod then try it again. It still doesn't! It pauses, plays, and click wheel respongs, but it just doesn't wanna forward/rewind. So then I connect the Mini to my computer, and open the updater, thinking to restore the Mini. Then this dialogue comes up, saying "iPod service error." I can't even restore now. I tried the same thing with the updater 2005-11-17, and does the same thing to me. What is wrong? Has anyone had this similar or same problem? Is this because of the updater? Now I think I have no choice but to bring it to Apple store...if I can't find a solution to this. Please!! Help!! Thank you!!

Oh and by the way when I keep holding the forward/rewind button, it can still search (if thats what its called) meaning that I can still go to a certain point in a song I choose so that I can start listening from there.

  • Ipod mini screen problem

Well I just won an 4GB 2nd gen iPod mini and I just received it the other day. I followed the instructions in the quick start book (charged batteries, installed software, etc). Only problem is my screen's contrast becomes extremely faint after a minute or two of use. Once I turn it on, it is OK to use with contrast set at about 2/3's. Moments after I must turn it up to maximum and it is still VERY faint and continues to worsen with use. I've tried resetting it (using menu + select... I can barely see the apple symbol as well), upgrading the ipod software to 1.4, restoring it. Everything that I've been told to do. What should I do as I do not have an apple service center anywhere around here (gladstone, QLD, australia)?
    Thanks

    HI Jesy,
Try with formatting ur i-pod. U can format ur i-pod using the iTunes r directly by selecting the drive in explorer(windows) and right click->Format Drive. Hope this will solve ur problem

  • IPod Mini updating problem

A friend of mine sold me his old iPod mini for a few bucks, giving me only the USB connector. Just earlier, when I downloaded iTunes, and updated the iPod software, it told me to then plug my iPod into a wall plug, and a picture of this on my screen then appeared. The problem is.. I don't have one, I'm using my computer to charge it, and now the icon on the screen will not go away. What can I do to get rid of it?

When updating or restoring some iPods via a usb connection, it needs to be plugged into power via the charger to complete the process, and this is why you see that icon displayed. It's also why older iPods that required this step were supplied with a power adaptor as standard.
You may be able to complete the process via a car charger, or via a powered firewire port on the computer (with the required 6 pin cable of course) if you have access to either of those. Or maybe visit an Apple store if one is nearby.
    Or you can try this.

Other than that, your iPod cannot be used until you complete this process.

  • Ipod mini sound problem

i got my mini a few years ago and its had a bad phase a few months ago when i had to send it back because the battery wouldn't last that long at all, so anyway they sent it back to me and said it was fixed only for a bit and then another problem has arouse and its just started not playing music at all, i looked at this forum and people have had same problems and they have been told to reset the ipod. i did that and its still not playing music
should i send it back and will they give me a new one?!!!
many thanks if anyone knows the answer to this one

the sound will not play when i put the headphones into my ipod mini, i got a set of speakers the other day and it won't play on them either, the ipod won't freeze or anything like that it will look like it is playing the song as normal but there will be no sound at all coming from the headphones or the speakers when i plug them in, i have checked the speakers and headphones and they are both working fine in my cd player

  • IPod Mini ~Major Problem

Ive had my iPod Mini for 2 years roughly I think now and havent had any major problems at all.
Yesterday its started playing songs without my touching any buttons and skipping to the next song in exactly the same place as the one before started ~ 2.05 minutes.
When I turned it off it still continued to play random songs.
I tried playing a song it played for two seconds then skipped to the next and played that for a bit then skipped to the next until the playlist had finished where it then returned to the main menu and played a completely random song not even on the playlist i chose previously.
I have not misued my ipod, dropped it, spilt water on it or damaged it in any way.
I have restored it to Main Factory settings and it has done nothing.
If any of you have experienced the same problem or have any ideas of how to help please reply.
    I would be truely grateful

    For Window computer
    Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
    Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”
In case you do not manage to do a “Format” on a window computer, try to use some 3rd party disk utility software, e.g.“Partition Magic”.
If does not work, please find a Mac computer
    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”
I could be wrong, I believe that it could have some bad sectors on the HD of your iPod, doing a full format can only solve 80-90%

  • IPod mini strange problem

So today I pick my ipod up to go plug it in my car as I head to work and it's giving me the exclamation point/folder error. I've reset it several times and used ipod updater to reset it to factory defaults twice and I still get the error. It still comes up on my desktop when I plug it in and still works just like normal when I open itunes. It still even works fine with my Xbox 360 streaming music as I play. It won't work by itself and won't work with my Pioneer stereo in my car ( I have the direct ipod connection with my Pioneer).
I don't want to only be able to use this with my 360 because I pretty much only used this in my car.
    Anyone have any other ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

FM transmitters have a tough job. They have to transmit a signal powerful enough for your radio to pick up and reproduce with great clarity, yet be weak enough so as not to p!ss off the FCC and your local radio station. My best advice to you is to try some other blank stations. Sometimse a station that sounds "blank" might actually be receiving interference from some non-musical radio source (computers, cell phones, etc. can produce radio interference.) If that still doesn't work, just give it a try on a boom box or a radio in your house. That way you can find out if it's a problem with your iTrip or your car stereo.
Quick tip: An FM transmitter also makes a great replacement for expensive wireless headphone sets. Get a good FM transmitter and a radio-in-headset unit, and you're all set. It works for me all around the apartment much better than any other "dedicated" wireless headphone set I've tried. (Besides, any other set is either a radio anyway, or requires line-of-sight, which equals inconvenience.)

  • IPod mini updater problem

I am being driven mad this afternoon....My iPod mini keeps showing a file with a warning sifn. I think I have done everything I should (the 5 R's) but to no avail. Whenever I try and install iPod updater I am only given the option to restore. When I try to do that, I get the message 'Firmware update failure. disk write error'. Can somebody please tell me what I am doing wrong??
    Thanks!

Thanks for this. Changing the port didn't help. When I went into the universal serial bus controllers, there were no items labelled as the instructions said. Mine say:
Standard enhanced PCI to USB host controller; USB composite device; USB mass storage device. I was worried about disabling any of these in case it was the wrong thing to do. As you can tell I am not a computer whizz! If you can help again, it would very much be appreciated!

  • Ipod mini transfer songs back 2 pc

does anyone know if i can transfer songs from my ipod to my itunes library? i accidentally deleted all my itunes library (paid and downloaded songs), but it is still on my ipod. TY

The transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes 7 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed above your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • IPod Mini Synch Problem

I have a mini with about 100 songs that I purchased from Apple. My original computer Hard Drive crashed and it is non-recovarable. I want to synch back from IPod to my new PC and it would not allow. In addition if I want to buy new songs I can not transfer them to IPod until I format my IPod and start from scratch. Anyone has solution? Thank you in advance.

Follow the instructions in this article, and then either restore the iPod or set it for use with multiple computers. Following the instructions in the third link may be necessary to use the ones in the first.

  • IPod Mini: General Problems AND semi complicated issues!

    Hello.
I've had my trusty Mini for about...2 or 3 years now. It's always been faithful, never having any terrible problems. But recently, I've noticed the charge time has decreased insanely. If I charged it for 3 hours, I could probably get a good 30 minutes out of it before needing to charge it again. It's that bad. Have I maybe been over charging it?
And to my complicated problem. I had an old version of iTunes installed on my old computer. I never updated it because I liked iTunes just the way it was. Everything was good, untill the power supply on my computer burned out and took with it the motherboard. So, every shred of music I ever had was gone, except for what I had on my good 'ol iPod. I've been charging the iPod on other computers and that's been working alright (charge was already decreased). Now, I need to burn a couple of CDs for a friend of mine, but I only have the songs on my iPod. In my old iTunes, if I plugged in a second iPod other than mine, it brought up its library which I could play. And then I could plug mine in and play that later, too. But when I tried doing this on the most up to date versions of iTunes, I simply get a screen with a few tabs about settings and a bar with my memory usage, none of which bring my iPod's library up so I can possibly copy its contents to the computer. What am I supposed to do?

    About the battery problem:
After about 400 charge cycles, the battery is only able to retain up to 80% of its battery charge, and with even further cycles, can hold even less. Read more about batteries here: http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipods.html
By the way, it's impossible to overcharge the battery. The iPod has an I/O Controller (binary for on/off) that controls charging and prevents you from overcharging (the iPod will simply display "charged" and will not charge any further).
    About the other problem:
I don't know of any specific, because I don't use them, but I know there are some programs out there that "reverse sync" the music on your iPod back to your computer. Try one of these.

  • IPod mini - restore problem

I recently downloaded the latest iPod software from the Apple site in order to restore my mini Ipod. Everything was going ok until I got to the part where the picture of the power adapter appears on the screen.
I have tried plugging the ipod into the power adapter but the power adapter icon remains on the screen. I even left it connected to the charger overnight and it was still there in the morning.
Whether it's in disk mode or normal mode, my PC does not now react at all when it is plugged into the USB port - the picture of the power adapter still remains.
I have tried restarting both the iPod and the PC but without any joy. I can't find anything on the net or in these discussions about this so if anyone can suggest how I can sort this out it would make me very happy indeed.
    Cheers

Are you connecting to a USB power adaptor, or a Firewire power adaptor?
Whichever you're connecting to, is it possible for you to get ahold of the opposite & give it a try?
    Cheers!

  • Ipod mini battery problem caused by damage to ipod

I have experienced the recent battery problems (not holding charge, etc)and have been advised that, in this instance, they could have been caused by damage to the hold button. Has anyone come across this or know whether this is correct?

Your iPod battery has reached the end of its service life. As your iPod is still under a year old, Apple will replace the battery for you free of charge if you send it off to them.
If you don't want to send the iPod back, you could put up with your 2 hour battery life, or you could replace the battery yourself. You can buy battery kits from a load of online stores (iPod ResQ has a good reputation, but I've never personally used them) and fit them yourself, but this will invalidate your warranty.
