Ipod nano 2gb has error 1418

Well I had over 2gb of music on my itunes...so it said if i wanted to create a playlist that the ipod will go to so the new music will show up...i clicked yes...and then later that day i deleted the old music and then had 1.8 gb so that the ipod could sync all the music. I then DELETED the original playlist that the ipod was getting music from apparently...so i thought that the ipod would be able to sync it. it turns out that the ipod says something like the orignial file cannot be found..or something like that. and then i was just going to restore it to factory settings but that won't work either!!! it says error 1418. so then i updated to version 7...and then i tried to restore it to factory settings again....SAME error!!! what does this mean and how can i fix it?

Hi psh09,
Also, have you tried the possible solution from the following document? See if it helps, too, if the suggestions in the article Niel posted above doesn't help with your problem:

  • My Ipod Nano 2GB has destroyed 6 headphones HELP!!!

I bought all kinds of headphones of all types of brands(including the original) yet the same thing happens over and over. After a few days of use one of the sides stops working, then if I keep using the entire headphone goes bust. I dont know what to do anymore. When I use with my other mp3 player it goes just fine and no problem ever comes up
    What should I do?

It could be an hardware issue of your iPod, may be it caused by the poor contact of the iPod earphone jack. Bring it back to an apple shop for service

  • Ipod Nano 2Gb Not Recognized

    Hi.
Today I bought a Second Generation iPod nano 2gb. I've downloaded iTunes and connected the iPod via USB 2.0. All my usb ports are on and they don't turn off. When I plug in the iPod, it charges, but does not show up in iTunes or under My Computer. When I plug it in, my computer prompts me to the New Hardware Installing Wizard. It is always of no help to me so I just cancel it. Under my computer, the Ipod does not show. It also does not show in iTunes. I have done the 4 R's 3 times now. I am sure I've searched everything to make my iPod work. I've looked at all the help topics on this page and I've done everything advised and it still does not show up. PLEASE HELP!

  • PSP w/ 2gb memory stick VS. iPod nano 2gb

    What would you rather have?
PSP with a 2gb memory stick or iPod nano 2gb
PSP has gaming and internet capabilities though
but iPod nano is EXTREMELY portable and with the nike + apple sport kit launching soon if your a runner it would be cool

They really serve completely different purposes. I have both and would never really consider using the PSP for music. It's just too big & clunky for that. It's great for games though.
What are you looking for, a portable music player, or a portable game system?
    Cheers!

  • Hardware problem Ipod Nano 2gb

Recently I've bought Ipod Nano 2gb in the US. Now I'm installing it. When i connect the ipod at the pc, i-tunes recognize it. When I disconnect the ipod, the ipod doesn't react. It shows the screen for choosing the language but none of the buttons react to change something. The hold button is off.
I've already reset the ipod, without results. The Ipod shows that there are songs on it, and you can play the songs that are downloaded on it.
The PC recognizes the ipod as a medium.
Does anyone has a resolution to this problem ?

Just to make sure...when you say turn...you don't mean physically turn do you? Even though you stated the hold button is off, toggle the button a few times to see if that helps. If you have tried going through all of the 5 R's and the click wheel still will not allow you to make any movement through screens, then you may want to contact Apple for a warranty replacement. Few more questions...does the back light turn on when you touch the click wheel? Do you hear any clicks when you run your finger around the click wheel? I know you said that doing this doesn't allow you to navigate through the screens but I'm curious if it reacts in any way.

  • Ipod nano gets unknown error -48 when trying to restore

    Hi All
My Ipod nano gets unknown error -48 when trying to restore and download the software update. Specifcally, when I connect my ipod, I get a message saying itunes cannot access the ipod and that I should restore it. I go the the ipod tab, hit the restore button and the download begins (approx 16mb). The download completes, and then I get this message :
There was a problem downloading the ipod software for the ipod "ipod". An unknown error occurred (-48).
    Please help !!!!!

Even though not specifically listed, try the steps here:

If you know someone with an XP windows machine try the reset utility on their computer.

  • If my  ipod nano already has music on it but not my account will all my stuff be lost when i sync it to my account

if my ipod nano already has music on it but not on my new account will all my stuff be lost when i sync it to my new accont and would i still be able to add stuff from the old account to my ipod

All your iTunes Store purchases are linked to the account.  I do not think you can use two accounts with an iPod*, so you will have to choose one account or the other, and use only the things purchased under that account.
*I've never actually tried, but that's my understanding.  You'd get a better answer by posting in the correct forum.  Try the iPod forums rather than the Using Apple Support Communities forum.

  • Hello Community. My ipod nano 7g has been stolen - is there a possibility to find and block it if the ipod is connected via itunes?

Nope.  You can report the theft to the police, and that's about it.

  • I have an ipod nano which has photos on and i would like to transfer them to my computer

I have an ipod nano which has a damaged screen can I still retrieve the photos on it or is it beyond repair.

You can only do so, IF you had the following setting enabled when you synced the photos to the iPod.  On the iPod's Photos tab in iTunes, there is a setting for Include full-resolution photos.  If that setting was checked, you can Enable disk use for the iPod and find the photos in the Photos folder on the iPod.
Otherwise, iTunes converts the photos to optimize them for the iPod's small screen, and saves all data for the photos in a single database file (to save storage space).  There may be a third-party utility that can retrieve the images, but they may be very low resolution compared to the original photos.

  • Ipod Nano 2gb charges very slowly

    HI...
My Ipod Nano 2gb needs about 24 hours to charge...
My is not covered for service anymore but maybe there is a solution without sending it to apple...
    Please help me
    marggi

After the 24 hours does it have a full charge, or just a partial charge? If it is a partial charge or considerably less then the original charge you might want to consider getting a new battery. You can send it out to get a new battery or replace it yourself with a high capacity replacement. You can go on ebay or the web and search for a high capacity battery for your nano. It will come with the tools required to take it apart and instructions for take apart. It is not a very hard job to do and if you have any mech skill it will be a quick and cheap fix.

  • Ipod nano 2GB only allowing 44 songs then full

I am trying to import songs from my CD collection and I only have 44 songs on my nano and it says the memory is full. Can someone please help me? There is nothing else on the ipod except songs, no contacts, no photos, nothing else. Please help!!!
    hp   Windows XP

As it happans I am a wizz on the keboard and can help.
when apple say the iPod nano 2GB can fit what 500 songs?, they estimate this at ACC encoding 128 kbps, at 4 MB per song.
If you have imported your music from CD then it is probally in the uncommpressed format of AIFF, which takes up 20 time more space!!!
iTunes can convert the songs for you, you go to edit>preferences>advanced> here you can choose where you want your music to go after conversion now from here go to importing and , I would suggest using
ACC format at 128 kbps (High Quality)
now back in your library go to edit>select all ( select 1 of the songs first or this will not work) and then click advanced>convert selection to ACC now just let it chew through all of that (it might be an overnight job depending on the number of songs you have being converted).
Now you should delete your ebtire library of the big AIFF files and under file add new folder, and add the folder that you converted your music too (by default this will be C:/documents and setting/my documents/my music
then all of your new compressed songs will come on your library at the same quality as they were but 1/20th the size!!.
if you need any extra help email me at [email protected]
