IPod nano gen 4 Mac formatted: if I do a PC format, will it wipe out existing songs, audiobooks etc.?

My PC wants me to format the nano. Will this cause all the existing data to be wiped out and the Mac reformatted to work on that computer again?

Niel, does this mean a PC (Windows 7) formatted ipod nano can be synched on a Mac (with songs, etc.) and comingled with data previously synched from the PC? What I would like to do is download into the ipod nano stuff from both the PC and the Mac with the PC being the primary computer connected to the nano.

  • ITunes does not recognize my iPod Nano Gen. 4

I have a MacBook Pro Retina with the latest version of iTunes installed on it and an iPod Nano Gen. 4. The problem that I have is as follows: My Mac does recognize my iPod but just as storage device. iTunes does open when I plug in my iPod but I cannot find any iPod icon on iTunes and therefore cannot upload anything to the iPod via iTunes.
I have performed a reset procedure on the iPod, restarted my Mac, and tried out different USB cables and ports but iTunes still does not recognize my iPod.
How do I solve this problem?

  • Games compatible with ipod nano (gen 4)?

Where are the games in the iTunes store that are compatible with ipod nano (gen 4 ...the tall skinny one without the camera)? Or have they been replaced/ deleted? 'Cause I tried finding them, and they're nowhere to be found; I know they used to have a bunch of 'em- I still have the old Monopoly version that works with my iPod nano 4th gen. But even that seems to have disappeared from the store. Does anyone know if it is still possible to find games compatible with older iPods, or has Appple tried to make the older models obsolete by no longer offering apps for them?
Any help at all is greatly appreciated, thank you.

i have tried looking for them as well they take the games off to make room for new modles. that is the only down side of having a nano that is why is want the ipod touch. and do not go in websites you will mess up your computer i have the same ipod and computer as you trust me don't bother looking you are just wasting your time.

Help, I just  purchased an IPOD Nano Gen 3 4 GB. Trying to load to PC which is a Windows program. How do I do this?

Connect it to your computer and restore it as a new device. Then chose what music you want to sync with it and do so just like your Touch does.

  • Help me recover my IPod Nano (Gen 5) playlist

I plugged in my IPod Nano (Gen 5) to charge it, and Apple told me they had updates.  After the updates were downloaded, my IPod automatically synced itself (I don't know why).  After the sync was complete, my entire playlist (473 songs) had disappeared, and 3 songs (I guess it's the default playlist) had appeared in its place.  I still have the playlist, it's in the Libraries section of my computer, I just don't know how to get it back into my IPod.  I'm also told that the driver for this device (USB Mass Storage device) is missing, and I don't know why or how to recover it either.  Another problem is, when I plug my IPod into my computer, the 473 song playlist used to display and I could listen to any song on my playlist just by simply hooking in my headset and selecting.  That doesn't happen anymore either.
Sorry for the length, this is just really important to me.  Any help that can be provided would be most appreciated.  E-mail me...........pleeeeeeeeeease?

    Hey there TXann,
It soudns like you have purchases that will not sync over to the iPod Nano 5th gen no matter what you do. I want to recommend running through the iPod 5rs to help troubleshoot the issue here:
iPod nano (5th generation) Troubleshooting Assistant
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/nano5gen/
I suggest trying the sync after each step so as to minimize the amount of troubleshooting you need to do. Here is step one to get you started:
    Reset
    To reset your iPod:
    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
    Tip:
If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
