  • First Generation Ipod Nano gives error message when using Windows Vista

I have a dual boot PC running XP Home and Vista Home Premium. My three kids have Ipod Nanos. Each kid has their own user profile on the PC. The later generation Nanos (2) work with Vista perfectly.
The first generation Nano causes an error message when you connect the Ipod to the PC while running Vista. If you run the XP and associate the Nano with XP everything syncs perfectly with no error messages.
Conclusion: Early Nanos work with XP, but do not function properly with Vista.
Request of Apple INC. - Fix this to work with Vista, or send me a new Ipod free of charge.

All of the following programs should work with Vista.
Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.

    Hey MajaPil,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Looks like you are getting an error when connecting to the iMac.

  • Ipod nano 6G error 9006

After several months I found my Ipod Nano again. In the meanwhile, I switched from Android to Iphone 5s and got quite common with ITunes.
ITunes does find the Ipod, but states, that he is in "maintenance mode" and needs to be restored by ITunes - done so, updated ITunes to newest version, IPhone works well, but when downloading newest IPod Nano software, at the end of the 4-5 minutes download I receive error message "unkown error 9006".
I've presed power button together with vol - also for x-times, but unsucessful.
Is there any hint I haven't been able to find via google??
    Please advise

That one can indicate a security software issue. In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you worked through the following document?

  • Ipod nano sync error 13019 - I've tried everything suggested. Now I Have a blank Nano. Any suggestions?

Now I have a blank nano.

    Hello RonTheStockGuy,
I agree with Ingo2711. Here are the steps to fix the issue:
The steps are kinda long but they work.
This is for windows computers with iPod nano that get the error 13019 during or after a sync with iTunes.
    -Open itunes
    --click, edit, click preferences
    --select advanced
---make a note of the iTunes media folder location on a notepad.
---put a check in organize files
---take the check out of copy files
    ---click ok
--Click file, at the top of iTunes
--move mouse over library, select organize, and consolidate files. ( This ensures all music in you iTunes will be in the iTunes media folder later.)
At this point, if you have playlists you want to save:
-Create a folder on your desktop, call it, playlists
--Hover you mouse over your playlist in iTunes, should be at the bottom of the blue/grey column on the left.
--right click the playlist, select export playlist
--Navigate to your desktop and open the playlist folder and save.
---Do this for each playlist you want to save
    -Close itunes
-Click your start button, and open computer or my computer
--Using what you wrote down on your note pad, follow the path to the "iTunes folder", NOT the iTunes media folder
    --Open the iTunes folder.
    --Stop here
-You will see icons that look like folders and you will see icons that look like files-
    -You will KEEP the FOLDERS
    -You will DELETE the FILES
--If it makes you more comfortable you can cut the files out and paste on your desktop, but as of now we do not need the files any longer as we have the playlists backed up. Remember-Keep the folders.
    --That was the magic--
    -Disconnect your iPod if connected.
-When you open your iTunes, it will be empty, that is OK. We are recreating the library. Everything will come back in a few seconds.
    -Click file at the top
--Select, add FOLDER to library, not to be confused with add file.
--In the window that pops up, locate and click on computer or my computer
--From here follow the path to the iTunes media folder on your note pad, but do not open the iTunes media folder.
--Click the iTunes music/media folder one time so it highlights.
--On the bottom right you will have option to select folder, or choose folder or OK. Hit that button.
All you music will start to import back into iTunes.
    -Plug in iPod after completed
--a message pops up about being synced with a different library.
    --Click erase and sync
--Watch all your songs go on your iPod with no error message.
From here you may sync your iPod the way you want with out worrying about the persnickety error 13019!!!!!
    Hope this helps!!!
    Julian
    p.s. Follow the directions exactly.
p.s.s. To add your playlists back to iTunes:
-Click file at the top of the screen
--move your mouse over library, selecte import playlist
--on the new screen that pops up, navigate to your desktop
--open the playlist folder, select the first playlist, hit ok
    --repeat for each playlist exported

I get a strange error when I visit nikeplus through itunes. It is "iTunes could not connect to nikeplus.com. An unknown error occurred (-23)."
Now it will actually take me there an let me upload my data so it isn't a major problem at this time, but was curious if anyone has ever encountered it and successfully fixed it.

  • Ipod Nano sync error :  Hard disk write protected

I have a 2nd gen IPod nano 4 GB. I had Itunes 7.1 installed on my PC when I last synced. A week later my disk crashed and in the new disk I installed Itunes 7.2. When I tried to sync, I get a error message which says " disk is write protected. Please remove write protect and sync again "
    Can someone help

No, you can use a third party program like Yamipod, or XPlay2, etc. But I would advise you to download iTunes anyhow, even if you have to go to another computer and then burn it to a CD or something.

  • Ipod nano, firewire error msg and refusal to stop

Recently I had an error message on my nano stating that the iPod does not support FireWire. This message occured while I was using the iPOD while running and there for it was not connected to any computer. I use a windowsXP machine, and thus no firewire at anytime. I restored the nano and it worked. The next day I received the same error message. Also the nano would not turn off. The batteries ran down, and the next day I again restored the nano. At this point the nano will play but it will not turn off. The pause function will work (the button is active), but continous pressing of the pause/play button will not turn off the nano.
    Suggestions?

Okay, I had this exact problem today. The firewire error message came up while I was playing a podcast. I couldn't make the message go away by clicking the center button. I plugged it in to my computer (USB) and then once I unplugged it, it would not turn off. After some troublshooting with Applecare on the phone, once I uninstalled iPod for Windows, iTunes, QuickTime (in that order, don't restart between iTunes and Quicktime. Once Quicktime is uninstalled, then restart.) and then reinstalled the newest version, iTunes+QuickTime and THEN restored the iPod I no longer had the error message and my iPod does turn off. This is, of course, good news for me because I am about to go on a trip and NEED my iPod! Also keep in mind that once you disconnect the iPod from your computer, it won't turn off right away. It needs to sit for about 10 seconds before it will allow you to turn it off.
    Good luck!

  • IPod Nano Service

I have an iPod Nano, 2GB, less than 2 months old. The problem is that if I plug in lanyard headphones, or earbuds, start a song, then touch the case below the scroll wheel, the song stops. I can restart the song playing and touch the case near the bottom of the iPod and the song stops again. Even moving the iPod can cause the song to stop. If the lanyard or earbuds are removed and the song is started, touching the case has no effect. I sent the iPod in for service, Apple kept is less than a day and sent it back. The closest "required" item on their symptom dropdown menu was scroll wheel issues. I included a detailed account of the problem I was having, but it is apparent that the unit was unpacked, the scroll wheel found to be working, and it was shipped back, still malfunctioning. I have called Apple and was directed to make an appointment with a retail store to actually have a person look at the unit. It is immediately clear that this is a defective unit, as any song can be stopped just by touching the case if lanyard headphones or earbuds are connected. All the recommended troubleshooting measures have been performed to no avail. Any recommendations on how to get this iPod serviced? I'm very disappointed in Apples lack of support. I don't expect any better with extended care or Procare and it has made me think twice about purchasing a new laptop from them. We have two other iPod Nanos in the family and they work well! Any help will be welcome.

  • New ipod nano and error in updating itunes and quicktime (error 1905)

this is really annoying me, i have itunes 6.0 or 6.1 or something, and i recently purchased an ipod nano.it said the new nano was only compatable with itunes 7.1, so i went to apple.com and downloaded it. it took two hours to download the set-up for itunes 7.1. i ran the set-up, and then in the middle of it this error came up:
Error 1905.Module C:/ProgramFiles/Quicktime/GTUIPanelControl.dll failed to unregister. HRESULT -2147220472. Contact your support panel.
i pressed okay twice, and it went through the rest of the process and it says this:
    Could not open key:
HKEYLOCALMACHINE/Software/Classes/QuickTime/CLSID. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personel.
all of this is very frustrating, but after i click "ok", it reads this:
The installation of QuickTime did not complete successfully.iTunes requires QuickTime.
Please help!i would like to utilize this ipod sooner than later, obviously.
    thank you

I used that download, which seems to have worked for some people, but not others. It has something to do with downloading a VBScript. Anyway, I did this, but when I tried to complete its download, it said "Error registering the OCX C:\WINDOWS\system32\vbscript.dll"
I then tried to run that file through Run, typing in "regsvr32 %SystemRoot%\system32\vbscript.dll"
I was told it would "reregister" it. Unfortunately, I was met with other error message. ""DllRegisterServer in c:\WINDOWS\system32\vbscript.dll failed. Return code was 0x80004005"
I was told that it had something to do with not having adminstrative privilegdes. I've dealt with these "adminstrative priviledges" before when Norton refused to work, and its no happy mess. But if someone can shed any light on the situation, that would be great.
