Ipod Nano will not turn off

My ipod nano will not power off. Even the sleep button does not work. I have reset everal times. Any thoughts?

I've been through 4 of those R's, as well as the Quick Fix and about 5 hours on the phone with Apple. It will now turn off, but it is still not visible to iTunes and the iPod updater won't run because it also can't see the iPod. Windows sees it just fine, so now I'm awaiting a 3-5 day response from an Apple engineer about what is wrong. This all started when I installed the 6.0 update. I'm now back to the older software, but it still won't reconize my iPod, so therefore will not update it with new songs, etc.

External volume on 5G Nano will not turn off

External volume always stays on, will not turn off on 5G iPod Nano, even when headphones are plugged in.
Went through the 5 R's (Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore). No change.
Could it be a defective volume control?

I had same problem - I reset options, etc.
FINALLY, after reviewing this discussion and going to the link as was suggested, I called Apple. The tech guy suggested making sure it was not on lock (on top) which it wasnt' and said to press Menu and Middle circle button (as opposed to Play/pause) at same time and apple logo should appear. It did, and then it unfroze and let me turn it off finally!!!
He thought problem occurs when you leave it on too long.
He suggested NOT to reset options else you'll lose your playlists (at least until you sinc up with your itunes.

My Ipod touch has not turned off for some time. I reset it. Now, as well, the battery which is charged to 100% and finished with a trickle charge is discharging completely overnight when not in use. Help please, I use this all the time

HI my daughter has a brand new ipod nano, it will not turn on at all and is now not being recognised when the usb is connected to the pc?

For no apparent reason, my 4th Generation Nano stopped working. The screen is dark and when I attempt to plug it in to my computer, iTunes does not 'see' it. - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

NANO WILL NOT TURN OFF!!

Please help - Everything works fine with the Nano when it is connected to laptop. When not connected, all works but it can not be turned off - only put in pause. If I connect back to laptop, I can turn it off just fine. I have reset, restored, etc. with no luck. Please - any help out there??

Since you've already done a restore, then skip the following steps.
1. Press Menu
2. Select the 3rd item from the bottom of the list which is "Settings".
3. Scroll all the way down to the bottom and select the last item which should be "Reset All Settings".
4. Then select the second item which is "Reset".
Leave your iPod on overnight until the battery is fully drained. Sometimes this may reset other things. Then plug your iPod to your computer for at least three hours and let us know what happens.
If the condition still exists, then the only alternative would be to visit the nearest Apple Store:

The iPod will need to be serviced, to determine the exact fault and repair it (if possible). You can get the current 7th gen iPod nano as an Apple-certified refurb for $99 (with a one-year warranty)

Be sure to rule out the other possibilities. If you have an Apple Store nearby, you can make a reservation at the store's Genius Bar and take it there (along with your docking cable).

IPod which will not turn off

My iPod often turns on by itself. Which makes for great fun in the middle of the night but the only way this does not happen if the battery is discharged completely. It is a 20G click wheel. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Turn off the alarm.
Go to extras/clock/alarm and set it to off. Check the calendar also, extras/calendar/alarm.

Yesterday mt Ipod nano was working, today it has no power, will not charge and even when plugged into my computer, Itunes does not acknowledge it. I think it must kaput. It is only 3 months old, it wasn't dropped or anything. Any suggestion?

i am having the same issue have tried holding down the power button to reset but it isn't even bringing up the loading circle let alone the apple logo, the last time i used my ipod it was fully charged as well. this is frustrating as i got this for a christmas present due to my last one wouldn't hold it's charge it would fully charge then last 5 mins and die. (it is 2 years old though). my computer doesn't read the nano 7th gen and tells me that is an unknown device and to reset it and if this doesn't work to replace it.

I charged my ipod for 2 or 3 days, because I forgot about it. Then when I got it off the charger it would not do anything. I also noticed that I had left my earbuds in the headphone jack during that time as well. Did this ruin my ipod? I've tried resetting it several times, charging it up and then resetting it and nothing happens! Is my ipod done or is there something else I can try?

It very well sounds like the iPod's is completely shot, no longer able to build or retain any sort of charge. Might be a good time to start saving for a new one.

My 7th generation iPod nano will not turn on or be recognized by my computer.

I have plugged it into my computer. Nothing. Blank. Computer says it can't read the USB.
I update the version of iTunes. Nothing. Blank.
I hold the power button. Guess what? Nothing. Blank.
I've only had this iPod for a couple weeks, and I have not had any problems before.

If this is the case, I suggest you return the unit and ask for a replacement. Cheers!
