IPOD Photo 4th generation LCD screen

I am working on a PIC microcontroller project at the moment and I wanted to know if the technical guys any anyone looking at this post could help me out with the pinout of the 32 pin connection on the 2" 220x176 colour display that's fitted to all 4th generation IPOD phot's.
I have done a lot of digging around on the net and it looks like the IPOD photo's display has a Renesas HD66789R controller built in.

One chap has managed to figure out the pin-out on the IPOD video's display but it's probably safe to assume that the pinout for this display if different to that of the Photo.

I have chosen this display because they are readily available on Ebay at a sensible price and it has SPI interface to keep the pin count down.
I would very much appreciate the pinout for the 32 pin connector.
Thanks
Alan

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."

  • My iPod touch 4th generation's screen is part white but,my iPod still works but I can see only part of the screen.Does this mean part of my screen is broken? Or is there a way to easily fix this? If so please tell me how to fix it.

I need help on knowing how to fix my iPod touch's screen.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for &199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs.. They do not fix yours.

  • My iPod Touch 4th generation's screen is still white. Could somebody please help me?

My iPod touch currently has iOS 5.1.1. When I was about to use my iPod touch for music yesterday (05/30/12), I saw my iPod touch's screen was pure blank. The only sound my iPod touch makes is the voice control and there were no open apps. Also, there was only music on my iPod touch before the screen was blank at the time and there aren't any broken parts. It is not Jailbroken and I had my iPod touch since last August. My iPod  touch still has a white screen. I drained out my ipod touch's battery and it did not turn back on back to normal, the screen was still white. When I restarted my iPod touch, the screen was still white. I charged my iPod touch and the screen was still white. When I tried my iPod touch in DFU mode, the apple logo/connect to itunes logo never showed up and the screen is still white. I restored my iPod touch, that didn't work and the screen was still white. Is there a techincal glitch? Should I wait for the next update? Did anyone has/had the same problem? Can Somebody help me with this problem? Should I go to the Apple Store? Should I replace it? Someone please help me. I will be greatly appreciated for your help.

    Hi there Gabby,
I'm sorry to see you are so frustrated. Try holding down the sleep/wake button and home button together, until the device restarts.
If this still doesn't work, and you have restored your device, it seems like it could be a hardware problem. Book a Genius appointment and a local Apple Store, and they will talk you through repair and replacement options. If you are still in warentee, they will replace it for free. You can book an appointment at the link below.

  • Ipod touch - 4th generation: Shattered Screen

Hello, I am from Trinidad and Tobago and my ipod touch screen shattered yesterday and I called the helpline last night for assistance. They told me that my provider F1 Connect would be able to repair it but said that they do not receive parts for this product. I am most disappointed that Apple misinformed me and I would like to get this fixed as soon as possible. I know this is not within the warranty but I will pay to fix it. I would like to send/ship it directly to the company for it to be repaired. Please provide feedback ASAP. Thank you.

Over here id be better off buying a brand new ipod as repairs would be around the price of a new ipod

  • Podcast on IPod Photo 4th generation but not in ITunes.  How to delete?

One would think that it would delete with Sync, but no.

Is your iPod set up to sync podcasts and other content automatically? If so, navigate to your iPod's Podcasts configuration pane in iTunes and remove the tick mark next to Sync Podcasts along the top of this pane.  Then hit the Apply button, which will then remove all podcasts from your iPod.  Re-apply the tick mark and again hit Apply to resync your desired podcasts iTunes back over to your iPod.
This has happened to a few users recently, but as to why I do not know.

  • My ipod touch 4th generation says to connect to itunes. I did, and it says I have to restore my ipod for it to work. I have about 6,000 photos on there that I do not want to lose. What do I do?

My iPod touch 4th generation says on the screen to connect to iTunes. When i connected it to iTunes, it says i must restore my ipod for it to work. However, I have over 6,000 pictures that I've taken over the past two years that i do not want to lose. What do I do? I already tried resetting it by holding down the home/power button, that doesn't help.

Elitegate, the poster siad his iPod has the Connect To iTune screen, You can't backup the iPod when in that mode.

The way I did it was I got the free app sync:stream from the App Store and then added my ipod to my ps3's Bluetooth devices. Then went to audio settings and set output and input to 'Skaggs iPod' you then open the app and it will be listed under music as a media service. You then go to all tracks and click copy (press triangle) it will then begin to copy all of your songs onto your ps3 via Bluetooth. I haven't tried but I assume the same can be done with photos. I hope this was helpful reply if you have any questions :) good luck

  • I updated my iPod touch 4th generation from the latest iOS 4 update (i think maybe iOS 4.3.5 or something like that) to iOS 5.1.1 and my Photos, Videos, contacts, music, App data, etc. was deleted. How can I all the data back?

I updated my iPod touch 4th generation from the latest iOS 4 update (i think maybe iOS 4.3.5 or something like that) to iOS 5.1.1. I updated to iOS 5.1.1 on a Windows XP Home Edition with the Service Pack 3 installed on the Windows XP (which I believe is the latest version). After updating, I unplugged my iPod from the computer. I saw that all my photos and videos were on my iPod, but there were no apps. A window popped up and told me to enter a passcode for my iPod. I entered a passcode. I then locked my iPod and entered what I thought to be the correct passcode, but my iPod remained unlocked. Desperate, I tried many passcodes with failure. After a while, my iPod became disabled for a long time. I decided to reset my iPod. After I reseted it, I chose to reset from my earlier back up. After reseting, my computer loaded on all my apps. But, when I started using my iPod, I realized all my photos, videos, music, app data (like game saves and high scores), etc. were gone! I have no idea what to do and I am very stressed about this! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME GET ALL MY STUFF BACK!!!!!!

Go to iTunea>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backupright at the time you did the update. Then try restoring from that backup. If the apps are in your iTunes library, any app data will be restored to the iPod.
When restoring from an iOS 4 (or later) backup, if the device had a passcode set, iTunes will ask if you want to set a passcode (and remind you that you had protected your device with a passcode). iTunes will not ask you to set a passcode when restoring from iOS 3.x and prior backups.
Therefore, remembe the passcode that you enter this time.
It appears that if you restore from a backup, that backup is not subseqyently overwritten by the next backup.

  • How do i make picture files on my ipod touch 4th generation, without itunes wanting to keep deleting everything in the original photo library.... I was only able to make on and can't remember how, but when I try to sync when touch is hooked up to itunes

I have had my ipod touch 4th generation for a couple months now.... Nowhere in the manuals or help sections does it tell me how to make individual pucture files(like that already on my computer) put onto my ipod touch.... I managed to make one and I can't remember how I did it but when I have the touch hooked up to itunes and try to pick which picture files from my computer to sync, a box always opens and says that it will delete everything in the original photo library that was in there.....
Can anyone help me there has to be away, I know someone has done it but they don't live here to show me!!!!
    Please and thanx in advance!!!!!!!

where on my computer am I suppose to make the individual picture files and have them to upload on my ipod touch.... I do have a photo library on my computer, but in the photo tab in itunes for the ipod touch and there is nothing checked for syncing, cause when I do check it it always says its going to replace everything i have in my photo library on my ipod touch.....  So how am i suppose to have it checked and have it NOT replace pictures on it????
Also I cannot make more photo albums into my ipod touch, it just replaces the one album every time....
I am very frustrated cause I have tried the manuals and the apple support help etc and nothing pertains to my exact issue.....
Please if u could elaberate I would appreciate it alot.....

  • I got my ipod touch (4th generation) on March 20,2012, and it fell out of my pocket and cracked the screen. I would like to know how much it costs to get it repaired and how much insurance costs. Thank you for your time.

I got my ipod touch (4th generation) on March 20, 2012, and it fell out of my pocket when I jumped. Unfortunantly, the screen cracked very badly, and it has become a hazard, not only for the many cuts I have gotton on my fingers from the ipod screen's broken glass, but for what I type (because the screen is cracked so badly, I cannot see what I am doing). The ipod has become pointless to own in its condition. I would like to know how much the repair would be, where the best place to get it done is located, and how much future insurance would cost in the United States. Thank you for you time.

    See "Repair Pricing."
No clue where you can purchase insurance but it's probably not worth the price.

Hello. Today, I was updating my iPod Touch 4th Generation to iOS 6. I unplugged the iPod when it was during the installation because it appeared to be frozen. Now the iPod is stuck at a light blue screen even after I reset it. How do I fix it?

You will need to do a DFU restore by holding the home and power buttons down (while the device is plugged in to your computer) until the device's screen goes black and as soon as the screen goes black, count down from 3 and release the power/sleep button, but keep holding down the home button. Then, iTunes will say the iPod needs to be restored. The restore process will take some time and even though the iPod may appear to be frozen, don't interrupt the restore.
