IPod Photo crashes my MacBook Pro
I got my MBP 17" last Wednesday and am very happy with it. However, I had my first problem yesterday. I decided to connect my iPod Photo to update it using the library I had on my PowerBook. ITunes updated okay, after finishing I dismounted the Pod and left it charging on the right-hand USB port. However, when I got back to the MBP, it was hung and I had to do a forced power-down. (Force Quit wouldn't come up, nor the dock, etc.) Anybody else have/had this problem? I've tried searching on this forum but there are just too many messages containing the term iPod. Thanks.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out these instructions.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select the most recent panic log under the heading System Diagnostic Reports on the left. If you don't see that heading, select
View ▹ Show Log List from the menu bar. Post the entire contents of the panic report — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post shutdownStall, spin, or hang reports.

Hard drive crashed on macbook pro. now i want to recover all my photos on my iPhone (iPhone photos, favorites, stream, etc..) w/ out loosing. do i simply sync my iPhone? paranoid i will wipe iPhone photos when synching to new hard drive image and new iTunes image.
In addition, i lost all of my music when hard drive crashed (time machine backup was corrupted also), is there anyway to recover iTunes music. Music was a combination of purchased, CD's burned, diverse music library, etc.....

I'm trying to fix a problem I'm having with my iPhone 4S and MacBook Pro.
I did manage to connect it initially and set it up with XCode as well as iTunes.
Today I have spent two hours trying to connect it to my MacBook Pro and I have so far found the following...
iPod 2G - charges from MacBook Pro, Wall Charger, Asus Laptop (works with both my Apple USB cables)
iPhone 4S - doesnt charge from MacBook Pro, but does from Wall Charger and Asus Laptop
- Asus Laptop running Linux Mint recognises the iPhone as a device with 'lsusb' and you can browse photos etc
- MacBook Pro doesn't recognise the iPhone as a device with the 'systemprofiler' equivalent of lsusb
- Interestingly, despite the charging icon not showing, the iPhone either maintains charge or very, very slowly charges
when connected to the MacBook Pro.
Any ideas as to what might be wrong? I've tried both the USB ports on the MacBook Pro and no difference. I've tried the 6 ports
on my old Asus laptop and they all work fine!
Thanks for your help!OK.. Went to the Apple Store - they could either book an appointment with a Genius.. or send the phone for
testing and repair. Found out I have a 2 year warranty on it so have a year left.
My research has led me to assume that the USB 2.0 function of my iPhone was faulty from the day I got it (it kept disconnecting the reconnecting but transferred data fast), but soon stopped doing that and ran at about 1MB/s - USB 1.1 speed - and has done this ever since.
The MacBook Pro somehow is trying to use the USB2.0 function and is not letting the phone fall back to USB 1.1.
To test my theory I found an old USB 1.1 hub... plugged it into the MacBook Pro... then plugged the iPhone
into that. Job done. Charging fine, recognised every single time I connect, and only took a few secs to send over my XCode app to the phone and runs fine! I guess this works as the hub forces the iPhone and MacBook both to USB1.1 mode which then works fine! Will just use it like this for a few months then send it in at an opportune moment (want to get some apps out before I lose my device for repair for a while!)
I will in the next week or so test my iPhone on my friend's MacBook Pro (we bought them the same day but I didn't get the Retina cos I like to be able to upgrade RAM, Hard Drive, and replace battery when it wears out). I will also test their iPhones on my MacBook Pro to see whether it really is the phone or the MacBook!
PS I will get WiFi Sync running since transferring 60GB of data over USB1.1 won't be fun... will do a full factory reset on the phone just in case there is an issue there - will post results of this too! -

But I have 4 "albums" containing different photos. How do I get those photos into iPhoto ... short of emailing them to myself?When you connect your iPhone to the computer and import, all photos in the camera roll will be imported, but not the photos in other albums, for example, albums that have been synced to your iPhone. Sp, to import other photos from synced albums, you have to save these photos to the camera roll or use iTunes Photo Sharing.

I saved photos from my Macbook Pro onto my Iphone (using itunes, 4 years ago). My macbook is now dead and I need to get the photos I saved off of my iphone 3GS transferred to a pc. Any help... From my PC I can only access "internal storage"
The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The picture sycn is one way - computer to iphone. The photos are also reduced in size when synced to iphone so they are not of the original quality
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup of your computer.
Have you failed to do this?
If so, not good at all, you can e-mail the pics to yourself - keep in mind they will never be of the original quality -
Safari 5.0.6 repeatedly crashes. MacBook Pro 10.5.8 I've emptied cache and reset to no avail. I've tried solutions found in other threads but the more advanced don't seem to apply to me. Help, please.
Not sure what other tests they could run for me. I've pretty much run all the tests I can using Drive Genius and Tech Tool Pro 5. Is there anything they use that I don't know about??

Is possible to transfer photos from a macbook pro to an iphone 5 without itunes or an internet connection? I'm a pro photographer and I need to transfer photos from my camera, edit them, copy photos to my iphone and send via 4G network to an editor. I will be in a location without internet access and my old computer itunes wont sync with my new iphone 5. I can't upgrade the computer right now because I need some of the old software. Thanks.

I am trying to print a color photo on my MacBook Pro from iPhoto (not using Photoshop) using Epson 2200 printer, and everything I do in the Color Matching and Print Settings results in a photo with a pink cast to it. What am I doing wrong?
Have you checked the ink cartridges and made sure the nozzles are clear? Are you able to print from outside of iPhoto with the correct color?
Try the following: make temporary copy of the library and do the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

I have me iPod Classic, on my G5. This is where all the content on the iPod is from. I want to be able to connect my iPod Classic to my MacBook Pro and be able to have the iPod show up, on the devices list where I could access all my music, playlists and podcasts. Where can I find information on how to do this?

SebastianIf you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer or with more than one library you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:

You can go into your pictures folder in your user folder on your old computer and copy the iPhoto Library file (should be fairly large) either directly to the new computer or to an external drive. Copy the old iPhoto Library over to the new pictures folder on your new computer. The old iPhoto Library should overwrite the iPhoto Library on your new machine. When you fire up iPhoto on your new machine, everything should be there in the same form as it was on your old machine.
