IPod seems to have forgotten my Wi-Fi network!

Well, here's the problem.
I was in Settings and accidentally selected 'Forget this Network' for my home Wi-Fi network. Not to worry, I thought, as I'd accidentally done the same before, and connected to my network again, entering the password as I went. Now, even though my iPod shows three full bars of connectivity up in the top left-hand corner, and even though when I check in Settings, it tells me that I'm connected to my home network successfully, there doesn't appear to be any internet connectivity (in any application: Safari, Weather, Maps, etc.). I've checked it on my laptop, and my actual router is fine (the laptop works on the internet perfectly).
Help please?
Thanks a lot.
Tim

Try rebooting the router.

  • I seem to have forgotten how to set up AIRHelp to auto-update...

    I seem to have forgotten how to set up AIRHelp to auto-update. Silly me!
    Here's what I'm doing:
    1.) In the "General" settings of the AIRHelp SSL wizard, I browse to the directory in which I want my updates to be found for customers. This is the same directory on the Web server in which I plan to have the "update XML" file also reside.
    2.) In the "View settings, I enable the "Enable Auto Update" option. Since I am trying to update from a Web server, I have selected the "http" option (not the "File" option), then paste in the direct URL to my Web server that I intend to generate my updated AIRHelp installer. At the end of that URL path, I type the name of an XML file.
    3.) I generate a 1.0 iteration of my AIRHelp. Once it has completed, I copy it from the updated directory, then paste it onto the Desktop of a remote computer. I install this iteration.
    4.) I generate a 2.0 iteration of my AIRHelp file (and ensure not to touch any other settings). Once it has completed, I verify that it is is a newer .AIR file by the file date/time as specified by Windows Explorer.
    5.) I launch my 1.0 iteration of my AIRHelp document, but it does not auto-detect the updated .AIR file. However, I do have my settings correct that the 1.0 AIRHelp document is viewing the "online iteration."
    So, what am I doing wrong?
    As always, thank you very much in advance for your assistance!
    Most sincerely,
    Sammy Spencer

    Hey, Peter and Praful.  Thank you both for your replies.
    Peter, I have indeed read your content on using this function. You have a great Web site, and I'm still digesting lots of it! But I have thoroughly read and reread all your content on AIRHelp. I'm afraid despite following your instructions, I am still running into this problem.
    Praful, that was a good suggestion to connect to the updating XML file to ensure the remote computer can see that directory (and XML file). Indeed, I can read that XML file in a Web browser from the remote computer in which the older AIRHelp is installed. I have also gone into the Preferences and tried to check for updates immediately; the AIRHelp file informs me that there are no updates available.
    I was curious: After the AIRHelp file is installed, I see that there is a .helpcfg file which tells the AIRHelp where to find offline and online iterations of itself. Isn't there supposed to be another .helpcfg file which points to the directory/Web server in which the updating XML file is to be found? If so, that .helpcfg file doesn't seem to get installed.
    Does anyone have any other suggestions?
    As always, I really appreciate all your assistance!
    Most sincerely,
    Sammy Spencer

  • HT1414 My ipod seems to have just died. It would not allow me to slide to open and then it went to a screen that showed a picture of connect to itunes. I did that and it gave me the option to restore so I did that and now I get nothing a black screen w/fa

    Just went to open my ipod and seems to have died. Worked fine this morning. Showed a pic of connect to itunes and did that and it said I needed to restore to factory settings so I did that and now nothing just black screen with faint apple in the back  ground will not turn off or on and itunes will not recognize it?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • FYI updating my IPOD seems to have fixed song skipping

    Hi,
    I was having problems with songs that I purchased from Itunes skipping on my IPOD mini. I saw that alot of others here are having the same problem. I updated my Ipod, and the problem seems to have gone away (at least for now!). Just thought I would share this with others who are having the same problem becuase I know how frustrating it is when you IPOD keeps skipping your songs .

    Hi I am replying to my own message just so that it gets pushed back up to the top. No, I am not doing this for some sort of egotistical reason, I am doing it because this problem seems to be very common with the IPOD mini, and I know how irritating it is when your IPOD keeps skipping over all the songs you want to hear.

  • HT1911 how can you retrieve your passcode for your ipod if you have forgotten it?

    how can you retrieve your passcode for your ipod touch if you have forgotten it and it became disabled?

    You cannot retrieve it.
    You can do as the manual tells you to do and restore the ipod.
    If you are unable to restore, then type "unable to restore" into the search bar at the top of this page by Support and read the resulting help articles.

  • I seem to have to enter all my network settings each login

    I'm new to Apple TV and had make several attempts to set-up all the settings. Today I had to re-enter all the details again . Is this usual? Also my Photo's Lobrary seems to take forever to load. Connection speed in this part of UK is slow but I am only streaming from my iMac to ATV2. Any help or advice guys?

    It sounds like you must have created an open wireless network that anybody can join. You should be able to easily remedy the situation by properly configuring your network by enabling the WPA2 security feature at a minimum so that a passord is required to join the network.
    What type of network equipment do you have? If you have an Airport Extreme or Time Capsule the Airport Utility software provided by Apple makes the setup quite easy. The Airport utility can be found in the Applications/Utilities folder. If you have equipment from another vendor just Google WPA2 followed by the vendor make and model info. There are usually plenty of others that have created helpful guides.

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom

  • How do I get a password off my iPod if I have forgotten it?

    I put a password onto my iPod today thinking it was correct but when i went to get back in, it said my password was wrong. Which basically means I forgot it. Also, the button to shut my iPod on and off is broken so I've been using the assitive touch. How do i fix it, and will the button's unability to work not let me fix it? My iPod means so much to me and I've had it for two years. I'd be devistated if I couldnt get it to work again.

    Place the iPod in recovery mode using this program:

    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    For MAC or PC

    The iPod will be erased.

  • IPhone 5 won't connect to wifi since update to iOS7-says incorrect password. It seems to have forgotten the password to two wifi locations I use daily. When I enter the passwords manually, I get message "Incorrect password for ......(network name)"

    I reviewed another post on the support community that initally appeared to cover this topic. That question was replied to, and the person was referred to apple support pages that detail how to get one's iphone to link with wifi (turn off device, reboot router, go to iphone settings->wifi->click "i" next to your problem network and select "forget this network").... How do I select "forget this network"- it's not even an option (maybe it would be IF I could get the iPhone to connect to the network, but then I wouldn't need this question answered...)
    I have multiple other computers (Macbook Air, iMac 2011, and PCs), as well as new iPad (also recently updated to iOS7) and my wife's iPhone 4S (running iOS6), all of which have no problem connecting to our networks (and no access passwords have been changed). Only my iPhone 5 seems to be left out in the cold. The iPhone 5 "finds" the networks, but will not accept correct access passwords as "correct", therefore cannot actually connect to password-secured wi-fi networks (at least the two I use daily- therefore I assume this problem would follow me elsewhere I might attempt to access a PW-protected network such as WPA/WPA2, etc).
    Any ideas where to turn next, or is anyone else having similar problems? Thank you-

    Hi, Troy5.
    Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    Sometimes a simple power cycle of the router can correct the issue that you are experiencing.  However, the issue could be a little more complex.  Wi-Fi routers need adjustments to settings periodically for optimized performance with the constant progression of wireless device technology.  Below, I have included two articles.  The first article will cover basic Wi-Fi troubleshooting regarding iOS device connection.  The second article cover the recommended settings for current Wi-Fi access points.
