IPod Shuffle crashes when switching to shuffle

Hello,
in our company, all employees got iPod shuffles at christmas. Mine worked for about 1 week. It played songs and when I switched to shuffle mode I heard these random tones and when I switched to continuous mode, I heard the non random tones.
Now it doesn't play these tones anymore. And when I switch between continuous and shuffle, it crashes about 3-4 secends after switching.
I tried everything to make it work again.
Recovered it in iTunes more than one time. Formatted it with disk utility and reinstalled the software in iTunes... also more than one time.
All with no success. There is also no reset utility from apple on their pages.
What else can I do with that piece of... umhh... metal, to make it work again?!?!
It's really annoying! An email to apple was answered with a standard response, saying that I should call the hotline. Not very customer friendly. I wonder what deaf-dumb persons should do (with other products than ipods ).
Maybe someone had the same problems and found a solution. Otherwise only a have a nice, little, blue aluminum bottle opener...
Kind regards
Kai

Please explain what you mean by "tones".

  • AE 2014.2 crash when switching preview panel with Matrox

I newly bought a pc with Matrox M9138 card, and using it for professional use. All works fine, except for Adobe After Effects CC 2014.2: it simply crashes when switching between the Preview-panel and Render-Cue panel.
When I look in AE preferences under Video-preview > Mercury transmit doesn't even show that there is a Matrox-card. The only option there is Adobe DV. So, I guess AE doesn't find and even makes use of my Matrox card.
    Technical info:
    Windows Version: 8.1
Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 CPU, 3.6 GHz
    RAM: 16GB
    Type: 64bits
    Matrox M9138 LP PCIex16
    Driver version 2.4.3.2 (4.4.3.2) for Win 8-64bit
    Adobe CC After effects 2014.2
After Efects error: "Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <816><ae.blitpipe><2> Making New Context"
First I installed the Matrox driver, and then Adobe CC, but After effects crashed when switching between preview-panel and render-cue-panel (No Matrox recognition in AE preferences > Mercury transmit)
Now I did it in other order:
    - I removed Adobe CC (AE included) and all parts
    - Did extra checkup removal with Adobe CC cleaner
    - Removed the Matrox driver
    - Restarted PC
    - Reinstalled Adobe CC with AE
    - Reinstalled Matrox Driver
    - Restarted PC
    - matrox fully installed and working perfectly (no errors in Display Adapters info).
But still, After effects crashed (Still no Matrox recognition in AE preferences > Mercury transmit)
I contacted Matrox technical support, and as I suspected, they say they haven't had this problem before and all works fine.
    Typical...
Does someone has an idea what the problem would be?
Help or info would be very appreciated.

    Solution:
My graphics card did not supported the "Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (Open CL)". You can change it into "Mercury Playback Engine Software Only" in your Project Settings.
But this is in the wrong place in my opinion. Why not in "Edit/Preferences"? I could've changed it by myself but I did not find the menu.
Thanks Michaela from the Adobe Support Chat!

When I downloaded iOS 6 my iPod keeps crashing when on the App Store! Do you know why this is happening? Is there anything I can do?
Hello my iPod keeps crashing when I downloaded iOS 6
Is there anything that I have done wrong?
My iPod is a is a iPod touch 4th gen.

  • IPod app crashes when I try to play a song

But it will play if I select the song by album, artist or playlist first. But everytime I try to select an individual song from the song menu, it crashes and spits me back out to the home screen. It also crashes when I try to select the "more" menu from inside the iPod app.
Just happened this morning. Was playing music fine last night. No new updates installed. I just turned off my iPhone and left it plugged in to my computer over night.
Tried restarting the iPhone (power off and back on), tried resetting the iPhone (power and home screen for 10 secs), and tried force-quitting the iPod app and reopening but I still have the same issue.
At my work computer, so I can't try resynching until I get home. Any other suggestions/fixes?

    More details:
App also crashes when I try to select a genius playlist (though I never use this feature, so not sure if that's new). But I can create on-the-go playlists and play all songs off the iPhone that way if I wanted to.
When I launch the iPod app, it shows the "songs" selection screen by default, even though at the bottom, the "albums" tab is selected.
When I reclick "albums" it changes the screen to sort by album. If I had clicked the "songs" apon launching the iPod app, the screen wouldn't change, but the tab would now move over to highlight "songs".
Hoping it's just a synch mixup but still searching for a solution...

  • Ipod video crashes when I attempt to eject after sync (Windows XP)

My ipod video synced perfectly in itunes for first two months. About two weeks ago, however, the ipod started crashing four out of five times when I try to eject it in itunes or stop the disk from Windows' "remove hardware safely" dialog box. It also crashes after syncing automatically when I disable disk use. It syncs all files fine, but when I attempt to eject, it goes directly from "Do not disconnect" to the apple logo, with the backlight flashing on and off periodically. At that point it will not reset, and I have to go into disk mode and restore it to get the ipod to show a menu again. I've restored it now about 10 times, and have reinstalled itunes but am still experiencing the same problem.
    Please help!

If you're running iTunes 6.0.5, I would need the crash log to figure out why you're crashing.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log" If there's already a file there, it most likely has multiple crash logs in it (new crash logs are just appended to the end of the file). So, delete this file. This will make sure you're not sending extra information I don't need. These crash logs are text files, so you can open them in notepad or whatever to see what information you're sending.
So, get the machine setup to collect crash logs, do the thing that makes iTunes crash. Send it to me. It doesn't hurt to put the URL to this discussion thread because I get a lot of these messages and are easily confused.

  • NVidia video card- Lightroom freezes at startup, stalls, crashes when switching modules [Windows]

Issue: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom freezes when you start, crashes when you switch between modules, displays blank screens in Slideshows, stalls frequently or runs extremely slowly.
Solution: The nVIDIA nView Multi-Display Technology software (also known as nView Desktop Manager) is known to cause these symptoms. If you have this software installed, please see following  Technote for resolution of problem.

Okay, I ended up replacing nouveau with the nvidia proprietary drivers.  I did a full update of my system, which I hadn't been able to do in over a month because of catalyst's conflict with xorg, and managed to get X working (sort of).  The only issue is that once X starts, and brings me to slim, the keyboard ceases to respond.  If I turn the numlock on before X starts, it turns off as soon as X starts.  Ctrl-Alt-Delete doesn't do anything either.  Not really sure where to go from here other than to switch to vesa or something
EDIT: I tried installing the beta driver as well, but nothing changed.

  • DW CS5 crashes when switching to split view

I have just checked other comments in the forum but none seem to really fit the issue. The moment I use the code for a page and switch to split view, DW crashes. It works perfectly with smaller HTMLs (e.g. HTML emails) but starts playing up as soon as I try to work on the code for a page.
    Any solutions.. ?
    Thanks!

This is a long standing bug, that for some reason Adobe can't seem to fix. It started with CS4, and remains in CS5.  Typically when looking at certain .aspx pages, when switching from design view to split view Dreamweaver will crash. Anyway, thanks to some investigation back in CS4, and a keen Dreamweaver user (jplaguna) we can all get back to working normally.  I thought I would repost this for anyone struggling with the issue.
The problem is with Dreamweaver's "Translators" - whatever those are?  Anyway, you simply rename that folder and your problems go away.
Sorry to hear that you've been having this problem. I'm glad that you found a way to work around the problem.
Translators are the code that recognizes certain pieces of server-side code so that you can select and manipulate them in DW. Turning them off disables features like Server Behaviors. Also, you can be more strategic by simply renaming the Translator for ASP.Net here:
      c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS4\configuration\Translators\ASP.Net.htm
    Rename it to something like:
      ASP.Net.disable_htm
Then you'll need to restart DW. This will disable the Translator for only ASP.Net, not all of the other Server Models.
Can you post a .zip file with a page that causes the crash? I didn't see one in the original forum thread.
    Hope this helps,

  • Speedgrade constantly crashing when switching to Looks view !

Speedgrade constantly crashing when trying to work with .mov files from Canon 5D mk2. The crash happens when I switch to looks view !!! I haven't been able to try anything on Speedgrade yet. My Machine is Intel [email protected], 32GB Ram, Quadro 600.

I have a similar issue.  I have tried both footage from the Canon xh-a1 (after it has been converted to quicktime) as well as footage from the Canon 5D Mark 2.   I can color grade the footage, add masks etc, but as soon as I try to render out the footage the program crashes.  I can watch the file being created in the folder that I select.  The render gets to 100% completed and then the file disapears and Speedgrade crashes.  Very frustrating.

  • Voice over  crashes when switching outputs. Why?

Hello all. Using OS10.7.2. For the last few months now vo has been crashing when I switch outputs and I  mean it's an all out crash.  I tried to restart and that works but I can't switch outputs  and restart every time. I even went to sound in the vo utility   and switched sound cards then but no luck. I tried bringing up the training thing but that made it  come out of the real sound card.  I switched back to my internal and I had to bring up the trainer just to get vo back. Iv'e reported this to apple with no success  and I have to use my outputs for demos and stuff. This is ridiculous!
    Any joy in solving this?
    Thanks all

I have no problems in any other application (But I didn't have problems with FCP's voice over as well till sunday night).
I also had the latest driver from M-Audio, unfortunately it is not qualified yet for OSX 10.5.6. But I reinstalled the audio driver and it looks like it's working normally again. The question is how long...
In the FCP crash log I get the message:
    Exception Type: EXCBADACCESS (SIGSEGV)
    Exception Codes: KERNINVALIDADDRESS at 0x00000000a5ecd850
    Crashed Thread: 0
Well... I guess this could be anything!
I'll check what happens next and how long it runs stable. I really hate these kinds of hardware conflicts!
    Best regards,

I'm only including info about the first thread because it's the one that crashed, but I have the whole thing if there's like to be something useful there.
It always seems to be related to displaying the map, and the WebKit reference above seems to back that up.  Sometimes it'll display some tiles and then crash, and sometimes, like this time, it crashes before it displays any of the map.  This has happened with earlier versions of OS 10.9 as well, but I can't find those diagnostic reports to see if they point to the same thing.  I've tried throwing away my Lightroom preference file and purging the cache, but neither has helped.  It's happened equally with photos that are already geotagged and ones that have no location information.  I don't think I've ever seen it happen if I quit Lightroom after importing and before switching to the Maps module, so maybe that's a clue.
Has anyone else had this sort of issue with the maps module?
    Rob

I frequently see this problem. Have not yet found a solution. It is not a fatal error -- no data is lost, nothing seems to be corrupted. Since I'm not a programming expert, I can't really guess. I do get the impression that Lightroom, for all it's fantastic features (and I do think they're fantastic), it is very slow (though I am working on pre-Intel Mac).

  • Lightroom 5.4 64-bit crashes when switching to develop module (and during random other functions)

This seems to be a new issue that has developed over the past few days. I have been using Lightroom for multiple years without too many issues. Within the last 90 days I have upgraded to Lightroom 5. Today, upon loading up Lightroom (either 3.6 or 5.2) they both crash upon switching over to the develop module. I have upgraded 5.2 to 5.4, uninstalled 3.6, restarted my computer; still crashes with error message: "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Which upon clicking "Close Program" it simply closes the program. Any ideas as to why this is happening and a possible fix?
