IPod to TV to Tape

Hi, Everyone --
If the iPod can project to a TV via RCA or SVideo cables, can you then transfer the video contents to VCR tape or DVD ROM by recording?
Thanks for your help.

Keep in mind that with this many conversions you might notice the video looking a bit grainy after transferring to VHS.

an ipod touch supports all files types which its apps support

thanks, it's good to get a reply, but why do you keep going on about windows? Agreed, there is no mention that Tremor runs on iOS. So far this is the only reason given that it cannot run on iOS. You can read and I can read.
By putting the question to the community I was hoping for something like: the app you want is here-link, or the app you want cannot be written because technical-reason.
From a words point of view it would seem to be open for any ios developer to support DMG files.

  • My ipod crashes anytime i tap on music or video, does anyone know how to fix that problem???

my ipod crashes anytime i tap on music or video, does anyone know how to fix that problem???
When I use it on my laptop there is no problem the songs and videos are there but when i use the ipod directly they just don't appear... :S

It sounds like the iPod has a software issue. I would try the following troubleshooting tips:
    1. Reset the iPod: reset the iPod by holding the sleep/wake and home buttons simultaneously for 10-15 seconds until the screen goes black then shows the Apple logo.
    2. Make sure the iPod is on the latest version of the software, if it's not then update it.
    3. If the iPod is on the latest version of the software or the software update didn't resolve your issue then restore the ipod to factory settings, which will put a new version of the system software on your iPod.
More info on backing up and restoring can be found here:

  • Iphone 4s and Ipod touch - Download error, tap to retry.  Why is this happening?

    Hi
I have a problem when I am trying to download music onto my iphone 4S.  It sometimes says download error, tap to retry.  Sometimes when i try later in the day it works. My friend also has the same problem with her ipod touch, but hers wont download at all.  Both are up to date with software etc.  Can anyone help?
    Thanks

Usually when you don't have enough space, your iPad will tell you that.  To be sure, go to Settings > About and see how much space you have left.  If you have more than 5 GB, you likely have enough space.
I'd try rebooting your iPad and see if that solves the problem.  Press and hold BITH the power and home buttons at the SAME time until you see the Apple Logo, then let go of BOTH buttons and your iPad will restart.

  • Ipod Touch unresponsive to tap in final selection of an app.

I search for an app, find and select it, and take it to final step where you normally depress the 'free' 'button' to right of full page app description and nothing happens. System acts like normal until final screen when tap is unresponsive. Any idea if I can do something on my own system setup to correct or is this an Apple Store issue?

If you look around on this forum, you will see that many others are having the same problem since 12/16 or 12/17.  My original iPhone running iOS 3.1.3 is one.  In addition to the problem with the "Free" and "$x.xx" buttons not working, there are other more minor issues, such as the images of apps under the description no longer allow the user to scroll to the right, and the "Tell a friend" button near the bottom doesn't work, either.
It has been suggested under other threads that Apple is discontinuing support of these older devices, but I haven't seen anything official yet.  I have been e-mailing Apple (through their "Express Lane"), but they haven't been very helpful yet.  :-(

    Hi Novagurl2369!
I have an article for you that can provide some helpful troubleshooting steps to address your issue:
    No sound through stereo headset1
Inspect the headset jack for debris and clean if necessary.
Connect the headset and make sure the connector is pushed in all the way.
Check the volume setting. Adjust the volume by pressing the volume up and down button on the left side of the iPhone.
If you are trying to listen to music and cannot hear any audio, make sure that the music on iPhone is not paused. Try squeezing the headset microphone to resume playback. Additionally, from the Home screen you can choose iPod > Now Playing, then tap Play.
Make sure the latest version of iTunes is installed on the computer that you are syncing the iPhone with (songs purchased from the iTunes Store using earlier versions of iTunes won't play).
Try another Apple headset (some third-party headsets require an adapter to be used with original iPhone).
Try a different song or video.
Check to see if the iPhone alert sounds or other iPhone sound effects exhibit the same audio issues.
Disconnect the headset from the iPhone and see if sound comes from the built-in speaker.

  • ITunes will not recognize my iPod, but windoes DOES.

When i plug my 30gig iPod into my pc via usb, windows recognizes it, and it even prompts iTunes to pop up. After this however, nothing happens.
I cannot get iTunes to recognize my iPod, therefore cannot update it.
I have tried all of the steps on the troubleshooting guide on apples website, and itunes still will not update my ipod. I also even switched the letter of the iPod drive as directed by another post.
    Please help!

    Hello,
Yes, I can help you with the "can't mount iPod" issue. Check out these steps:
Eject your iPod from computer (for now).
    Close Updater and iTunes programs.
    Restart the computer.
Put your iPod into disk mode.
Connect your iPod to your computer again.
See if your Updater works for your iPod.
Also, if that didn't help with the problem, your iPod's hard drive might be out of place, if you're getting this kind of message. If you suspect so (especially if you hear strange sounds and clicking coming from the iPod), then try this:
Tap your iPod firmly on both sides several times, using your hand. This might work for you to tap your iPod'd hard drive back into place. It's not just a joke, since it works for lots of people, if their problem was the iPod's hard drive being out of place.
    I hope this helps!

  • IPod Touch Wi-Fi Issues

i wi-fi was great until a few weeks ago when i upgraded to 3.0. Sadly enough the 3.0 was worse than 2.2 and it ruined my ipod
    my internet is unresponsive
it crashes every 3 minutes and i have to re-enter my WEP Key (i had to write it on the back of my iPod with a marker.. seriously)
i have made many attempts to solve this and all the time it gets worse.
i have reset my network settings.
i have factory restored my ipod
i have actually gone through 20 topics and they dont help.
will some new update work on fixing this?
    because 3.0 was bad
then 3.1.1 just made it horribly worse
and apprently wi-fi is acting up on my 2g also
and it wont even try to connect on my iphone
the few seconds i do have it i test out my conenction and i hit my average 16.2mbps donwspeed
is apple actually working on this?
would downgrading to my 2.2.1 backup fix the problem?
because my friend did this and he said it completely killed his wifi and it doesnt even detect it..
did apple really screw up on the 3.0 update?
or is it just a technical flaw
because i dont see this getting better
and im afraid of bricking my ipod while upgrading to the new update that was just released, since upgrading to 3.0 broke my home button and caused it to cave in
and the apple store is being real picky about it and saying they will not service any of my products even though they are not jailbroken and never have been and they have no water damage (yes apple, i know about your white-to-red water damage indicator.
    so
is there any way of fixing this?
and i have tried updating on both my mac and my vista and they both update well but the firmware works HORRIBLY!
P.S: my old router broke so i recieved a new one from AT&T and i also have the Apple Airport and a linksys and a belkin and it doesnt work on either.. so the router is not an issue, and point being my ps3 works on wi-fi for about 7 hours non-stop it shows me its not a hardware issue with my router
    help!

Lots of ways to fix it and it starts with your router(s). Just because your PS-3 works is no indication that any Apple product is going to work. Out of the four routers you seem to own, whichever one you use for your wireless network, download and install the latest firmware. If you are using all of them as access points, then download and install the latest firmware for all of them.
Now that you done that, take the WEP encryption and toss that as well. WPA2-psk is your best bet from both a security and touch standpoint. Make sure you set your router/access point network settings are as follows:
    SSID - on
    DHCP - on
    MAC address filtering - off
If you have other problems with your touch other than WiFi, do a restore before you start working on the connection problem. Once you are ready to go, start here:
    1. Reset your iPod's network settings - tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    2. When your iPod restarts, tap Settings > WiFi > Other network and type in your SSID, enter your security setting (now WPA2 - not WEP or WPA2 Enterprise), and enter your new password.
    3. If it doesn't connect, try again. Both the SSID and Password are case sensitive.
    4. If it has connected (a check mark next to the network name), tap the blue > and look at your settings. If your IP starts with 169.x, you still have a problem with your router issuing IP addresses. However, assuming things are going well, you should see your IP address, network submask, the router IP and the DNS IP.
Write back if you still have problems and please indicate which of that hodge-podge of modems you are trying to connect to, any error messages you might have received, and so on.

  • IPod causes car stereo to turn off

I have been using my iPod classic with a tape adapter in my car and have had a recurring issue. When I use my iPod and a tape adapter, my stereo turns off and goes into "safe" mode when turned back on. I have found the problem to occur with 2 different tape adapters. I have also used an iRiver T10 mp3 player with no problems. AM and FM and CD (changer) are all working fine. Strangely, the issue happens when I pick up the iPod after it has been sitting motionless in the center console and in use.
Car is 2001 VW Jetta Wagon with single DIN factory stereo.
    Anyone got any ideas?

Consider acquiring a belkin adapter that lets you tune your car radio to an unused channel in your area.
It is essentially a very low power transmitter (about the size of a usb memory stick) which connects to the headphone jack. Set the channel on the transmitter, tune the car radio to the same channel. Push play.
There are 2 types of these transmitters - on that is switch selectable for 4 different channels, and a digital one that can go anywhere on the dial.
I prefer the latter, as the formers 4 fixed channels have bleed in my geographic area.
Runs on a single AAA battery - which, surprisingly, Belkin provides in the package.
Last I checked, the switched one as 29, the digital, 39.

  • Connecting Ipod Touch to Wi-Fi from your home.

im having so much trouble trying to connect my ipod to my wireless dsl. could anyone help?

    Danielle,
Is your iPod saying "unable to join" after entering the passcode? If it just returns to the Wi Fi screen, you should see your network with the lock icon which just indicates it is password protected, along with a check mark indicating you're connected. Do you see that check mark?
If the iPod appears connected but you still can't do any Wi Fi related activities, tap:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Wait for the iPod to restart, then tap: Settings > Wi Fi and choose your network, enter the password, and try again.
You can also try power cycling your router (even if other devices are connected successfully). Simply turn it off for 10 seconds, then turn it back on. Once all the lights return to normal, check with your computer to make sure you have an internet connection, then try the iPod again.
When entering the password, make sure that if there are any letters, they are capitalized correctly. When the upward arrow by the Z on the keyboard is illuminated or blue, the next letter will be capitalized. If it's just a dim gray, then the letter will be entered in lower case.
If all else fails, check with your router support to see if maybe they can help you change the security type on the router (WEP seems to work best, although WEP or WPA should work).
    Hope this is helpful

  • Connecting ipod touch to belkin 54g

    Hi there,
I've got this belkin 54g router, and it will not connect to my touch.
It connects to my wii, ps3 and other pc's fine.
I'm using a WEP key, with mac filtering disabled etc and it still wont work. I lost my network completely today by fiddling with it so i'm nervous to do too much!! anyone got any suggestions??
    Thanks in advance, chris

    Chris,
Try Resetting Network Settings on the iPod touch, go to Settings> General> Reset> Reset Network Settings.
If the issue persists, check the iPods IP address? Tap Settings> Wi-Fi> Tap the blue(>) next to the checked Wi-Fi network.
If the iPod has a 169.254.x.x IP address there could still be a router configuration issue. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA26003 provides more information about self assigned IP addresses.
If the iPod has a valid private IP address, it could be a DNS issue. Can the iPod browse to the router configuration page by tapping safari and entering the routers IP in the address field? Can the iPod browse to the apple website by entering 17.112.152.57 instead of apple.com?
If its a DNS issue, you can try entering a public DNS server on the iPhone, just tap settings> Wi-Fi> the blue(>) next to the checked Wi-Fi network

  • If I help out a friend & download a free app (through my iTunes account) on their new iPod Touch, will their device automatically be added to my itunes device list (and they can see all my contacts, pix, music etc)?

If I help out a friend & download a free app (through my iTunes account) on their new iPod Touch, will their device automatically be added to my itunes device list (and they can see all my contacts, pix, music etc)?

Just wondering, what context is this in?
First up, is your iTunes account part of an iCloud account?
Secondly, if it's a free app, why don't they just download it? If they are having trouble finding it on the App Store, but you can find it easily, you can share the link for it via email with them, and if they view that email on their iPod they can just tap the link and it will open the App Store to that App for them, so they can download it themselves.
If you were to go to the Store settings pane and sign in with your iTunes account, that should only provide the possibility for download items from your iTunes account, such as purchased apps, music and movies. However, if you signed in, downloaded the app, and then went back and signed out of the account again, there shouldn't be any access apart from the app you downloaded. This is provided you sign in using the Store section of the Settings app, not the iCloud section.
One problem they will have if you download this in your account instead of theirs, in order to download updates for that app, they will need you to enter your iTunes password to download the updates. Doing that doesn't give them access to anythign to do with your account other than that update, but they will be unable to receive updates for it without your password. They would also likely be unable to sync the app onto their computer, as their computer would not be Authorised with your iTunes account.
If you can answer some of the questions I've asked, I may be able to suggest alternate ways for you get them the app on their device.
Hope this all helps a bit

  • Disable the USB drive usage of iPod nano

    Hello,
    I am using iPod Nano 4G, 8GB.
I disabled the "Enable disk usage" option in iTunes, also the the manual mode is disabled. I dont want my iPod to be detected as a Mass Storage Device.
But even after these, whenever I am connecting my iPod to my machine, it is detecting as a USB Disk!
Can anyone tell me how can I disable my iPod using as a USB drive?
    Many thanks in advance

    Hi wfjones,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  Below is a link to the iPod Nano User Manual. The VoiceOver feature is explained on page 49-51.
iPod Nano 7th Gen User Manual - Using Voiceover - Page 49
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1624/en_US/ipod_nano_user_guide.pdf
Set up VoiceOver on iPod nano:
1 Connect EarPods or headphones to iPod nano.
2 On the Home screen, tap Settings, then tap General.
    3 Tap Accessibility.
4 Tap VoiceOver, then set any of these options:
Speak Hints: Explains how to interact with the item in the VoiceOver cursor. You may want to turn this on to help you learn how to use iPod nano, and turn it off later.
Speaking Rate: Increases or decreases the rate of speech for VoiceOver. This does not affect the speech rate for audiobooks or podcasts.
Language: Sets the language for VoiceOver. It should match the language set for iPod nano.
5 Tap to turn VoiceOver On/Off
If this is the first time you turned on VoiceOver on iPod nano, a dialog appears.
6 Tap OK in the dialog, then double-tap OK to confirm.
If you can’t see the screen, move your finger until you hear “OK button,” then double-tap with one finger.
If you do nothing for 15 seconds, the dialog disappears and VoiceOver turns off.
When VoiceOver is on, you use a different set of gestures to control iPod nano. If you change your mind and want to turn VoiceOver off, double-tap with two fingers to move the switch to Off. If you navigate away from the Settings screen, you need to use VoiceOver gestures to return to the setting and turn it off.
    Quickly activating accessibility features
You can set iPod nano to switch Invert Colors or VoiceOver off and on when you press the Home button three times. This makes it easier to share iPod nano with another person who doesn’t need the same features.
    Turn on the accessibility shortcut:
1 On the Home screen, tap Settings > General.
    2 Tap Accessibility.
3 Tap Triple-click Home, then tap one of the options.
    Cheers,
    - Judy

My iPod will not allow me to open emails or delete them. The screen seems frozen and touching it to open an email, edit etc., does nothing at all. • Playback volume on Harley Davidson Ipod interface

I purchased a ipod interface for my Harley and a new nano for it. I noticed on some songs put on my nano that I play on my Harley that the recording volume is low and I have to turn up the volume then when it gets to the next song its to loud. is there a volume setting that can normalize the volume between all songs? It also does it to the same songs when I plug my ipod into it. Thanks

    Greetings george154302,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You can normalize the volume for songs on your iPod nano by enabling the Sound Check feature on the iPod nano and in iTunes on the computer you sync with.
Here's how to turn on Sound Check:
Set songs to play at the same volume level:
In iTunes, choose iTunes > Preferences if you’re using a Mac, or choose Edit > Preferences if you’re using a Windows PC.
Click Playback and select Sound Check, then click OK.
On the iPod nano Home screen, tap Settings.
    Tap Music.
Tap the ON/OFF button next to Sound Check to turn it on.
If you haven’t turned on Sound Check in iTunes, setting it on iPod nano has no effect.
You can find this information on page 26 of the iPod nano User Guide:
