IPod Touch 2G crashes while connecting to WiFi

After dropping my iPod Touch 2G 8GB badly on the pavement, I cracked my LCD and touch screen pretty badly.
I ordered an LCD and touch screen on Amazon and replaced the parts on my iPod Touch. I got my iPod Touch able to turn on and fully function except that the speakers started making static noises. I'm guessing that I blew the speakers when I dropped it. The earphone jack does not work either, unfortunately.
However, this is not my main concern.
Whenever I try to connect to my WiFi, my iPod Touch crashes after I put in a couple of the characters for my password. Everything else works fine as far as I'm concerned, but my iPod always reboots when I try to put in my password for the internet. It's rather frustrating, but if anybody has any suggestions or thoughts as to why my iPod is doing this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jin

There seems to have more broken than just the screen.
Bring it to the Apple Store and see what other options you have.

  • IPod Touch 4gen will not connect to wifi no matter what

My white 8gb iPod Touch 4gen will not connect to wifi, I have reset the network and the entire iPod. When I got it for Christmas 2011 it worked perfectly for a few months then all of a sudden it stopped connecting, every connection I try to connect it to says the same thing; unable to join network... I am getting fed up, my first gen iPod Touch will connect to the wifi no problem, but the thing is it keeps crashing. I can't use it for more than a couple of minutes and it goes back to the home screen. If anyone could help, it is greatly appreciated!

  • My ipod touch says it is connected to wifi, but won't run anything that uses it like safari or itunes, and I don't know how to fix it

Can anyone help me? my  ipod touch says it is connected to wifi, but it won't run anything that uses wifi like safari or itunes, and I don't know how to fix it

You didn't indicate if it ever worked.  If it NEVER did, the problem could be caused by a firewall in the router.  For reasons that I do not understand, that will affect IOS (iPod/iPad) communication but will not affect computers or other devices.
You will need administrative access to the router.  If a firewall is present, turn it off and test the iPod again.  If it works, turn the firewall back on but weaken it a notch and test the iPod again.  Repeat as required.

  • HT4972 ipod touch reset unable to connect to  wifi

Got rid of white screen after three days of trying to connect to I Tunes and was able to reset Ipod Touch.   Now I cannot get wifi, that area is faded. Why does everthing have to be so difficult.

Is there any Physical damage like being dropped or Liquid damage like getting it wet? Usually the "White Screen - Wifi Greyed out " combo is from one of these two things. Wifi is burned out and gone if it is greyed out in settings screen. Contact Apple for Out of warranty repair if you damaged it or have them repair it if it is still under warranty.

  • Brand new iPod touch won't stay connected to Wifi

I got a brand new white iPod touch for Christmas, and I can get it to connect to the internet and I can use the internet, but then after a few minutes it drops off the connection and I have to go back in and reconnect it. I know there isn't anything wrong with the wifi connection at my house because I have an older iPod touch (3rd generation) and it has always connected and stayed connected without a problem. My mom and brother also got the same iPod touches for Christmas, and theirs do the same exact thing.

Change the router SSID (network name) and password to something shorter than the defaults.  If you dig into the router configuration web page you will find a short SSID.  My SSID is 5 characters long, and the password I use is 10 charcters long.

  • IPod Touch 1g "unable to connect to wifi"

Now I dont know why . because my Ps3 is connected to it, my Macbook Air is connected to it, my other laptop is connected to it , and my sister's ipod touch (im not sure what generation) is also connected to it . I have my 1st generation's firmware upgraded to 3.1.3 and I still cant connect. when it says " checking for networks" it wont find any, but my sister's finds every network on our street . • Ipod Touch 4G unable to connect to WiFi

Have been trying to connect to home WiFi for few hours but with no success. The Ipod keeps telling me that I do not have the right password, but i am sure the password is correct as I had connected successfully my Iphone 4 with the same password.
I've read some of the postings. Is there a inherent problem with Ipod's iOS4 to connect to WiFi ?
I have tried the following with no success:
    a. Reboot your router (unplug it from its power source)
    b. Reset the touch network settings - tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Setting
    c. When the touch restarts, tap Settings > WiFi > Other and log onto your network by re-entering your network name, security setting, network password.
Any other suggestions to resolve this problem ?

Since your iPhone 4 has connected, your iOS iPod touch should connect as well. It's the same OS. The steps you followed (mine, btw) generally fix most WiFi issues but not all and, with so little information about your network setup, it's hard to say what is going on.
So please, some details about your network:
    Router make/model
    Encryption used
    SSID hidden or visible
    DHCP on or off
Since passwords are case sensitive, could it be that you forget to capitalize some characters in your password?
Also, you could have a hardware problem with your touch (which generation, btw?). To rule out hardware problems, reset your encryption to none and see if it will connect.

  • IPod Touch 4G Won't Connect to Wifi?

    Hey all.
So, recently I got a new iPod Touch 4G. Just four days after, it fell out of my pocket (I fell as well) and cracked, big time. On the top left, there's a lovely hole where I can see the "insides".
I've had it for about two months now, and starting late last month my internet started to randomly drop. It would pick up soon after, so I was okay with it. But then slowly it started taking longer to pick back up. Now, it's taking at least a half hour sometimes to pick back up. I have no idea why it's doing this, but I've tried many things, such as:
*rebooting the router (many times, guys, it's not the solution...)
    *resetting my network settings
*hitting "forget network" on our home wifi connection
    *rebooting the iPod
I had an iPod Touch 3G for three years, and it never showed this problem. When it did (rarely), a router reboot was the fix, as the router was... well, I don't really remember, it was a long time ago.
Anyway, I've tried many things. I've asked relatives who've dealt with Apple products for years, and the one said it was not the iPod's problem, no doubt, it was the router problem.
However, every other device (four laptops, two iPhones that usually stick to 3G, a 3DS, and surely others) have shown no problem... though I do remember my laptop going down ONCE, whereas on my iPod it is MANY times a day.
Is there any idea what this is? It's completely ridiculous. It says "not connected", like the connection is gone, but I'll have my laptop in tow and it works with no problems.
I plan to take it to Apple on the weekend.
Does anyone have any help at all?

  • IPod touch 4 won't connect to wifi anymore

Ok, I am having some problems re-connecting to my wifi at home. I have done all the updates for my ipod touch 4th gen, and I've tried almost everything. I have turned wifi off & on, forgotten the network, reset network settings and STILL nothing is working. When I look at the info on the network I'm trying to connect to, the IP address and some other numbers don't match the info on my phone(which does connect to wifi). The numbers start with 169... Instead of 192..(my home wifi IP). It won't let me change the info either. Please help me out! My games work but I can't get on the internet or the apple stores. And all the other devices in the house connect except my iPod!

The 169... address means that the iPod could not obtain an IP address from the router

  • IPod Touch 2G Crashing while playing music

    Hello,
I've recently had a problem that while playing music, my iPod Touch 2G (4.2.1) has been freezing/crashing seemingly spontaneously. The symptom is an abrupt stop of music playback, coupled with the screen stuck with whatever it was displaying at the moment of the crash. Restarting using the Lock and Home buttons seems to remedy the issue temporarily, but I'm rather frustrated. Any advice short of a restore? I am willing and able to restore it, it's just so bloody long to get everything working properly again >.>
    Thanks for your help!

Since you said resetting really does not fix the problem restore is you only option.
I would try restoring from backing first that will leave your iPod like it was before the backup.  However, there may be corruption that is in your backup and restoring from backup may not solve the issues and restoring to factory defaults/new iPod may be necessary.

  • What will Apple do if my iPod Touch 4g crashed while updating to iOS 6?

Yesterday while trying to update my iPod touch 4g to iOS 6, it just suddenly shut down mid-way (on a charger). When I tried turning it back on, it would pull up the battery screen indicating that the battery is low, so I would plug it in the charger again. Although after its charged a bit, it would pull up the Apple logo and then go to a (teal) blue screen and I cannot do anything else. When plugged into a computer, my laptop can't even recognize my iPod touch. I've tried draining the battery out all of the way, then charging it up again and it won't work. My iPod touch isn't jailbroken either, and there was 2.4GB free space like indicated during the update. I'm wondering what will Apple do if I would bring it to the store?
I'm really upset because I just barely bought this about two months ago when I broke the screen on my other iPod touch

try putting it in DFU mode
