Ipod Touch 4g ios 4.2.1 32gb in boot loop help

ive had my ipod since december 2010 and ive been using fine ever since till i started watching a video on youtube.
it then froze so i rebooted it and it wouldnt load any app then on.
i tried to sync it with itunes and itunes wouldnt detect it and i tried connecting it to 2 other pcs and still no joy.
i then stupidly tried to erase all files and settings through the default option in the ipods settings.
now all i get is it starts up loads the apple logo after about 5 minutes a white screen and restarts.
i can put it in recovery mode where i see the itunes logo and usb cable but it wont be recognised on the pc
i have tried on a
win 7 32 bit system
win 7 64 bit system
win vista 32 bit system
and its not recognised on any pc - no icons in the corner and nothing in my computer
i checked device manager and no apple device appears under the usb serial ports
i have completely removed itunes and deleted all relating software and stopped the apple mobile device service and reinstalled itunes
i have restarted the amds
ive even restarted my pc several times and im lost at what to do next
it won't even detect charging status through usb yet when in my docking station it charges just fine
any help is greatfully accepted and i will answer any questions as thoroughly as possible.

i jailbroke it though for testing apps a friend of mine made and its proved because ive also changed the boot logo and thats seen in the boot loop so the warranty thing might be now voided ive used it fine for 3 months this way until now

I have got an iPod Touch on IOS 5.1.1, which contained my music library, including uploaded CDs and purchases. I have a new laptop (using Windows 7) and upIoaded my music library from the iPod, using Tunejack, onto the laptop. I then made a few purchases but these weren't showing up on my iPod, so in frustration, thinking this would rectify the problem, I then re-booted the iPod, with the result that my entire music library disappeared from it. I then went to sync with my lap top and went in under the 'Music' tab and clicked on download 'entire music library' but nothing happens. I have also tried 'selected playlists, artists, albums and genres' but this has not worked as well. The same issue dows not apply with eitehr my iPad 2 or my iPhone 4S. As mentioned, this music library did come from my iPod so there is no space issue. If anyone has any suggestions i would be grateful.

Does the iPod work OK?
Does it charge when connect to the computer?
Does it appear in My Computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Compare with the iPod that does work/connect.
I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1

iTunes is NOT enabled in Windows Firewall.
We'd better check on that, kris. If you enable iTunes in your Windows firewall, does that help with your connection? See the following document for instructions:

5th Gen iPod Touch w. iOS 7 not recognized by iTunes 11.1

On Wednesday I updated my 5th gen iPod Touch to iOS 7, and ran the latest iTunes 11.1 update on my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8.5.
For two days, everything worked fine, but today, when I plug in my fully charged iPod it is not recognized by iTunes.
Some salient facts:
     1. My iPod shuffle is recognized by iTunes without problem when I plug it in to any USB port on my Mac.
     2. I tried all of Apple's troubleshooting suggestions - restarted iPod and computer, tried connecting to different USB ports on my Mac.
     3. My iPod touch will still charge when plugged in to my Mac.

It didn't occur to me to suspect that my still-new, Apple-brand cable went bad the same week Apple released two major software updates.

An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)

You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

I've checked to make sure in iTunes that the Podcast Sync box is checked and it is. I've tried checking communities and tried several suggestions and nothing seems to work for me. Everything else syncs except Podcasts. I can't figure it out. Any suggestions to get Podcasts syncing to my iPod Touch again? Thanks!

One other step I've tried was removing and completely reinstalling the playlist to the iPod. That cleared up the problem for about two days.

A profile is used on iOS device to add specific settings and similar things to an iOS device. Tryically, they are added when the iOS devices is controlled by a company or school.
However, some apps install a profile. If your iPod is not controlled by a company or school then it seems an app added the profile. You can good the title if the profile and see if that gives any info.

I am not at that computer now, but I did check via windows update & with the check updates menu choice in the itunes program - neither indicated a newer version of itunes is available. (it is a vista computer).
The itunes software on the computer displays my ipod & the current ios (4.3.2), and indicates a newer ios is available (6.1.3). When I choose "update", I am taken to Windows Exploer and prompted to choose a file to open. it is as if the "update" button has the incorrect code attached to it.

I was updating my iPod Touch 5 iOS from Ver 7.0.3 to Ver 7.0.4 and myiPod locked up. I can not reset or restore the unit. The only thing it will do is show me a graphic of thr lightning cable facing up to an arrow and then to a circular blue iTunes icon. I interpert this to mean "connect the iPod to my computer thru the USB cable while iTunes is running. I do this and nothing changes. Total lock up. Any ideas?

If you can't remember your passcode, you'll have to restore it to remove the passcode, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.
If you're running iOS 7 with Fid My iPod enabled, in order to restore it you'll have to force it into recovery mode as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808, or erased it using Find My iPhone on icloud.com if your home button isn't working (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmfc0ef36f).
