IPod touch Battery Problems Since iOS 7 was installed last year.
Hello, I've had recurring battery problems with my iPod touch since the iOS 7 update was installed, and I find myself having to charge my iPod touch (5th Generation) a lot more frequently since I installed this update.
On iOS 6, I had never experienced any problems with the iPod touch's battery, as I was able to let the battery drain down completely, and let it charge for 4 hours (recommended). After the iPod touch was fully charged for 4 whole hours, I was able to unplug the lightning cable, and the iPod touch on its own would last a few days to at least a week or two weeks.
On iOS 7, since it saw its general release on the 18th September last year, I have found that the iPod's battery has drained so bad, that it dies too quickly, and when I put the iPod touch on charge, in almost an hour, the iPod touch tells me that it is 100% charged. However, when I take the iPod touch off its charge after it fully charges for that hour, it quickly drains down again.
I have gone through the standard procedure of restoring my iPod touch to its factory settings, and I have seen absolutely no improvement on the battery life whatsoever. I mainly back up whatever is on my iPod touch (I back up pictures, videos and also transfer updates that I have installed for certain apps onto iTunes), though I have seen how some people have backed up the data on their iPod's or iPhones, only they find their iDevice draining so quickly.
Even turning off certain features in the Settings app to improve the battery life doesn't help, as there is almost no difference that solves the problems I'm currently having with the iPod touch's battery.
I recently heard about the free iPhone battery replacement program which is now available, so I'm starting to worry whether I have to pay for a new replacement battery for my iPod touch.
Your help in this matter would be gratefully appreciated.

I mainly charge the iPod touch itself for four hours and it still doesn't make a difference. I've had my iPod touch for almost 2 years and since I installed iOS 7, it still doesn't make a difference.
I was wondering, if the article you have provided doesn't sort the problems with the battery out, is there another alternative??

I have a 32 GB iPod Touch 4G that is about 5 months old. I'm thinking that my battery may be defective. After charging my iPod it will take about 1:00 for the battery life to reach 85% while browsing the web and listening to music. Once the battery life goes below 85% the battery life will literally jump off a cliff. A 45 minute game of unblock me can drop the battery life by 20%. When the battery life goes below 50% the battery will loose about 10% every ten minutes. I was going to get my battery replaced at the Apple store but I first decided to run some tests. Interestingly, when playing The Matix (with wifi on)it took a little less then 45 minutes for the battery life to go down 5% (which is much better battery life then even apple claims). This was very interesting considering that just minutes earlier my battery was going down 10% every 10 minutes. Is this behavior normal, or should I consider returning it to the apple store.yeh my friend has that problem, it some times when you leave some apps on. double click on your button, then hold an app and delete them. but this wont delete your apps.

Hi, Just sent my iphone 5 back to apple after poor battery life since did ios 6.1 update, has anybody else had this problem?
Also Apple say they are sending me a replacement unit, is this new or refurb?
Many thanks.It will not matter, because it will be a perfect replacement iPhone 5. It will still have the remainder of your Warranty and if you purchased it, AppleCare coverage. If there are any problems they will be solved for you.

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

IPad 2 HDMI output no longer works since iOS 6 was installed
Hi everyone,
I need some help here,
I have a pretty old HD TV equipped with HDMI input ports, I was able to use my iPad 2 to do Video mirroring or anything else for that matter while the iPad 2 was operation with iOS 5.1.1, since I upgraded to the iOS 6 I'm no longer able to see the ipad home screen or videos like, Netflix, YouTube, basically anything my ipad was displaying, not my TV doesn't even detects a signal.
Are there any useful information that yous can share, I'm going crazy here as my two young kids want to watch their favorite show on Netflix through the big TV.
This has caused some discomfort and I wish I can find some help to fix it.
I appreciate your help.I have an ipad 2 running ios 6.0.1 and an older Dell TV (1080i) and have always been able to mirror. Running ios 5 the mirroring worked perfectly for sound and video. Don't remember if I tried while running 5.1. Now that I have 6.0.1, I can still mirror, but the whole screen is pink on this Dell TV. When I make the connection from ipad to the tv, mirroring starts immediately and the notification bar on the ipad home screen pulsates from blue to black and the cable is detected. I have sound and video working fine except for the colors. The ipad detects the AV Composite cable under settings>about but there is no TV out setting under General Settings where I'm supposed to see TV OUT listed under iTunes Wi-Fi sync. I have changed the hdmi to a new one, but it didn't help. I also have a new Panasonic Viera tv and everything (with the same cables) works perfectly on that TV. Leads me to believe it's an issue with the TV OUT function of the ipad. I don't know if any of this is helfpul information, but I thought it might help you narrow down what is going on with your setup.

I cannot attach photos to email since iOS 8 was installed yesterday.
Since I installed iOS 8 yesterday, I can no longer attach photos to email. It just cycles and cycles but photos will not attach. PLEASE HELP!! Thank you!!!!

After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. You may want to consider performing a restart, or a reset to address the issue:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
How to restart
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top of your device until the red slider appears. Then drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
How to reset
You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

Printing problems since 10.4 was installed
Last week I installed a clean copy of Tiger on my G5. Since then My HP DesignJet 1055cm (connected over a LAN) keeps giving me a weird error: Job Stopped. I restart the job (it reads printing under the status bar) and it stops by itself. Then when I try to print on the Xerox DCCS 50 it gives the error: Network host "IP#" is busy; will retry in 30 seconds... It stays the same way like on a loop. Both drivers come included with the 10.4. The network settings are ok, and the machines can be ping into. My other HP printer works ok. Any ideas? Anyone? Thanks for the help!

iPod touch 5th generation running iOS 8.0. iOS crashed twice, disabling power up. The only recovery was pressing and holding the home and power buttons together for several seconds. The iPod touch then went into restore mode. I've never experienced, heard or read of an iOS crash preventing normal power up: device has known battery charge, does not respond to pressing power button or connecting to AC charger.
That happens some times. Try:
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem/it still keeps recurring, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I recently updated my iPod Touch 5th gen to iOS 8.1 and have found a few rather annoying problems.
1) It now takes basically a whole day for my iPod to charge. I cannot use my iPod and charge it at the same time (or only on very low battery use apps), which I could before . The battery life has dropped pretty significantly. When I plug it in, it is extremely tempermental about being connected.
2) I added some new songs to iTunes and it took over fifteen tries over a three day period to get it to sync my iPod.
3) This one is very important as much as extremely annoying. When I start typing on the Internet, Safari will freeze up and stop working.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problems? Has anyone found any solutions?Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

My Other storage space was at 2.84 GB after i loaded all my music/apps onto a recently purchased 32 GB Ipod touch 5 Generation with iOS 6.1.3. Resetting the settings and removing the music and apps did not help reduce the Other space. I restored to a backup and got my Other storage space down to almost 400 MB. When I started syncing music it grew 500-ish MB. Each time I sync, the Other grows a bit more. This is really irritating.
The official listed available GB on my 32 GB is 28.22 GB (not including Other), so now I am irritated knowing that this Other is taking up my space when I didn't even have 32 GB of free space to begin with. So 28.22 - 2.84GB = 25.38 GB.
I want to restore to a new device to see if that helps, but do not want to upgrade to i0S7. Is there any way to do this?
If I upgrade to i0S 7 I am worried it might slow my ipod or drain the battery faster. Will it do that? The ipod is expensive and I dont want it to go downhill and obsolete on me because it can't handle a better operating system.Less than 1 1/5 GB is normal. It does grow with time.

You can enable battery % on ipod touch 4g without jailbreaking it you can use backup bot for itunes. Thats how i enabled it on mine. Step 1: goto http://www.icopybot.com/ibackupbot_setup.exe download and install it if you have windows. Step 2: Next create a backup of your device in iTunes and then CLOSE iTunes (or else you may run into problems later on) do not lock the backup with a password. Step 3: Open iBackupBot. Click the backup you just made Next click "Path" to sort by Path. Step 4: Look for Library/Preferences/com.apple.springboard.plist and double click it. On the registration screen that comes up, hit cancel. Step 5: Find <dict> and create a new line after it. Then add this:
<key>SBShowBatteryLevel</key>
<true/>
Step 6: Hit CTRL + S or just the save button at the top left corner of that editor window. Now close the window.
Step 7: Right click that same backup you just edited
Step 8: click restore
Step 9: Done! If you don't see the changes, reboot your iPod.

You will need to do a DFU restore by holding the home and power buttons down (while the device is plugged in to your computer) until the device's screen goes black and as soon as the screen goes black, count down from 3 and release the power/sleep button, but keep holding down the home button. Then, iTunes will say the iPod needs to be restored. The restore process will take some time and even though the iPod may appear to be frozen, don't interrupt the restore.
