IPod touch connection problem!

My iPod touch no longer appears in iTunes when it is connected to the computer. I have tried to fix this problem in as many ways as I know but none of them have worked. So far, I've tried: Restarting my iPod, Downloading and installing the latest version of iTunes, using a different usb cable, using different usb ports, restarting my computer and stopping & starting the apple mobile device service. My iPod still charges when connected to my wall charger and the computer which I use (windows xp) still connects to my brothers iPod touch. I don't what the problem could be?! My iPod is 1 & 1/2 years old, but still works perfectly fine apart from this issue. Can anyone help?

  • Ipod Touch Connectivity Problems

I am having problems getting my pc to recognize my ipod at all. I am currently running windows 7 64 bit and have the newest version of iTunes.
The following are the symptoms I am experiencing:
The ipod is recognized in device manager under portable devices. I tried updating the software to get the following message " driver up to date for the device, MTB USb device." Yet under device manager the ipod shows up as apple ipod.
I then tried locating the ipod under disk management, yet the ipod doesn't show up at all.
Under my computer, the ipod shows up under portable devices, not as a drive letter, and shows up as a camera.
When I have the ipod plugged in and try starting iTunes, itunes freezes up and doesn't work. itunes does the same if it has already been running and I plug the ipod in.
Any help on this matter would be much appreciated. I believe the root of the problem has to do with the mtb usb message.

i was having similar problems. i tried all the recommendations i could find. in the end all i did was disable my wireless then plugged in my ipod. it works everytime i do that.

  • Remote App on IPod Touch Connect to ITunes on Win7

Is anyone having a problem making the Remote APP on ipod touch connect to ITunes on Win7 over WiFi? Itunes sees it alright, asks for a Passcode which the ipod supplies, considers it and then says it is invalid. I'm open to suggestions.

Yes it is, I click on the "Remote" button, type the passcode into iTunes, it thinks for a while then comes back and says "invalid passcode". The two are communicating or iTunes wouldn't show the "Remote" button or display the passcode entry window.

  • MacBook loses wireless connection when iPod touch connects to network

    hi
ever since upgrading to 10.5.5. on my MacBook i've had the "intermittent network connection" problems that have been described and discussed (without any real solution from what i can see) in another thread.
PROBLEM: every couple of minutes my MacBook loses connectivity to the network - the AirPort icon still says that i'm connected, albeit with one less bar than before, but i can't connect to anywhere, not even to the wireless router - and to re-establish a connection i need to switch off AirPort, switch it back on, it will then reconnect, and after two minutes or so i have to do it all over again because the network connection drops again.
NOVEL OBSERVATION 1: reinstalling the 10.5.5. combo system updater helped somewhat. i used to get an error in system.log about there being too many state transitions on the wireless network and about network traffic reduction measures being taken to overcome this problem, but after reinstalling the 10.5.5. combo system updater this message never appears in the logs and I get kicked off only sometimes (see what i say in point 2 below)
NOVEL OBSERVATION 2: now my MacBook will only lose its connection to the net if i switch on my iPod Touch and switch its wireless interface on. in fact, the only way to avoid the MacBook getting constantly disconnected is to make sure that the wireless interface on the Touch is switched off in the Touch's system preferences; if I just sleep the Touch (top button) without switching off its wireless network interface first in its System Preferences, then the MacBook will keep disconnecting even while the Touch is in sleep mode (presumably the Touch keeps polling the network or something, even while it's in sleep mode).
DIAGNOSTIC NOTE 1: I have another wireless device (my Nokia E51, which has wifi capabilities) and if I connect it to the wireless interface then the MacBook's connection isn't dropped - i.e. the MacBook only loses its wireless connection when my iPod Touch connects to the wireless network.
DIAGNOSTIC NOTE 2: I have upgraded my wireless router (before I had a Linksys WRT-54GC, now I have a Netgear WGR614v9) but that has made no difference.
DIAGNOSTIC NOTE 3: I have also tried altering the router's settings (i have played around a_lot with this, trying every combination I could think of - e.g. staple down particular devices to particular ip addresses, use only 802.11g versus automatic b/g, etc) but that has made no difference either.
    RANT:
The only thing that prevents these disconnections from occurring is to keep the iPod Touch's wireless switched off, which ***** because if I'm in the kitchen I can't have it switched on to monitor my email (yes, I've no life, i hang around waiting for emails), or if I go have a lie down and want to check out stuff on the net, or to browse the iTunes music store or whatever, then I know that my connecting my iPod Touch the computer will be disconnected.
This obviously *****, right? And a lot of people are having wireless problems with their MacBooks, right? And these problems seem to have been around for over a year, right?
So why hasn't Apple solved this problem yet? Or am I just being melodramatic?
Your thoughts on any or all of the above, or flames if that's your preferred method of communicating, are invited. =)
    Cheers

Having the same problem here. As a first time mac user, Apple has certainly made a bad first impression.
For me, the issue seems to occur when transferring files between computers that are connected to the same access point (when transferring files from wired computers on the network there is no issue). My vista laptop and every laptop I have tried has worked perfectly fine with this access point so I am 100% convinced it is the mac. Basically when I copy the files, after about 100mb, I am unable to access anything on the local network or internet until I restart Airport. The weird thing is that even though I am unable to access anything, the airport utility says it is connected. I might also note that the wireless signal strength is full.
If I can't get this figured out in a few days, this computer is going back to the store where it came from and I will officially label myself anti-mac. This type of issue is just unacceptable for something so main stream.

  • IPod Touch Internet Problems

My iPod Touch connects to my wi-fi but the internet does not work. I've tried forgetting the network and re-entering the password, I've updated all software, I've reset network settings, and I've also restored my ipod touch to factory settings to see if that would help. As of now, none of that has fixed the issue.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You may not really be connected to your network.
Your router may not have given your iPod a valid IP address. To check on this go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Restarting your router by removing power to it for 30 seconds and restarting it may get around this problem. If this doesn't work then check for a firmware update for your router on the manufacturer's support web page.
If you need more help please give the make, model and version of your router and how you have it configured.

  • Will my iPod Touch connect in Germany?

I'm going to ol' Deutschland for a two-week vacation at the end of May, and leaving my phone behind (the last time I took my phone out of country, Verizon didn't correctly change my plan, so I ended up with a $800 phone bill). I planned on bringing my new iPod Touch to use wherever WiFi permits, however it came to my attention that Europe has a different WiFi standard than North America.
Basically, will my American iPod Touch connect to WiFi in Germany?

It will work fine. Overseas they use more wifi channels but the iPod can use them fine.

  • Problem with new IPod Touch - connecting to computer

Just bought an IPod touch 2nd generation and plugged it into my computer to charge and to set up. I got a "found new hardware-Ipod" message and then the "found new hardware wizard" screen came up asking me for an installation CD or floppy to install software. I already have iTunes installed (the newest version) as have used it before with an Ipod nano. I have tried plugging the ipod into different USB ports on the computer but no avail.
Could anyone help me with this problem as am desperate to use my new Touch?
    Thanks

All was well with my 2nd Generation Itouch until I downloaded Itunes 8.2. then ol boy what problems I have had! As follows:
    1) Itunes cannot detect my device, therefore, no syncing is possible
    2) Cannot connect to the Itunes Store....error indicates I have problems with my network connection (error code 3221), although I am connected and I have not previously had a problem.
I have searched for possible resolutions and have:
    (a) Uninstalled Itunes and reinstalled .... NO GOOD
    (b) Reset the network settings on the Itouch .... NO GOOD
    (c) Reset all settings ... NO GOOD
    (d) Ensured that the Apple mobile device option are okay
etc etc. In fact, I have done everything possible that has been indicated on the various websites. I should confirm that my computer recognises my Itouch BEFORE I access Itunes.
    Please help.

  • Ipod Touch-WIFI Problems-Can't Connect More than One at Same time

I'm not an Ipod Touch user yet, but three family members are. Unfortunately, only one will connect to the Internet on our home wifi at a time. Each one works just fine on its own and will make the connection, but if one is already turned on it blocks the others. I have a laptop and it connects fine regardless of the Ipod Touch issues. I'm using a Linksys router if that matters. Looked everywhere but can't find someone experiencing similar issues. Thanks for any ideas/thoughts/help!

Take a look at your router's settings for DHCP. Normally there is range associated for the allocation of IP addresses for wireless devices. For example, you would set DHCP to on, IP address range from 192.168.1.10 to 192.168.1.128. The normal defaults on the router should have given you an adequate range of address but you may have inadvertently changed something.

  • Brand new ipod touch connected, device recognized, but nothing happens?

I bought a brand new iPod touch 2nd gen two days ago and as I was very excited to plug it into my computer, sadly, nothing happened. iTunes recognizes the device and can be seen under Devices, but NOTHING happens and there are no other functions to click on at all. No set up, just a blank white screen, and yet, the iTouch screen still says to connect it to iTunes which it already is....
I have reinstalled iTunes, restarted my computer many times, updated it to the latest iTunes version, and still this problem persists. Can anyone help me out please!
    Thanks in advance.

  • IPod Touch Connection Errors After 3.1.3 Update.

    Hi all,
There has been numerous threads in which users of the iphone/ipod touch has the "connect to USB/iTunes" image after updates to firmware 3.1.3. This is the thread to compile the possible solutions.
To be part of this, you must satisfy the following criteria:
This is to make sure that we are talking about the same problem.
    1) Problem must occur AFTER the release of firmware 3.1.3.
    2) Your PC might detect the connection of a USB device. It claims it to be in recovery mode, but have no way to install the hardware.
    3) iTunes does not recognize your device.
    4) After start up of the iPod, there is an image asking you to connect to USB
    5) You have checked the Device Manager, and besides the USB devices logo, there is a small yellow triangle, which signals that the driver is not installed.
    6) You have tried to link the driver install location to C:\Windows\system32\drivers or C:\Windows\inf, but to no avail. The device remains uninstalled.
    7) You already reinstalled the latest version of iTunes, but problem remains
If you fit into all the above criteria, you are invited to start the thread running. =)

Some of us tend to not consider the costs that may come with repairs, thinking that they will last forever. Like many other manufacturers, these companies charge a premium when diagnosing our devices. That is not a guarantee of a possible solution to a problem. This thread is to help people like me who want to try any possible means of solving problems ourselves before going down to the service centers, to save some effort and time.

I had the same problem after updating ITunes and the IPhone software to v.3.1.3. My IPod got frozen during the update and, after attempting to restore, I got the following message:
The IPod Touch "Ipod Touch" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (1604)
I checked Apple's support page that the More info button links to, and for this particular error code it explains:
Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, try these steps to resolve the issue:
    1. Connect iPhone to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
    2. Restore and wait for error 1604.
    3. When prompted click OK.
    4. Close and re-open iTunes while iPhone remains connected.
    5. iPhone should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    6. Try to restore again.
I tried the above steps (after re-connecting the ipod to my PC several times with no significant result) and it worked! All the original content was synced back to my ipod, so it's all good!
Good luck with the above steps, hope it works for u too.

  • IPod touch connects as a camera???

I was setting up a friends iPod touch and when connected to her XP machine the computer reads it as a digital camera. iTunes does not see the device. XP recognizes it as an "Apple iPod" but still treats it like a cam. It was originally set up on my laptop also running XP and when hooked back to it the iPod works properly, it also works perfect hooked to my G5 running Tiger. What is causing this. The two windows comps are running identical versions of iTunes.

I did a reset on the iPod. The one where you erase everything... That didnt work. I'm guessing it needs to be restored, but the only way I know how to do that is through iTunes. Since iTunes does not recognize the iPod on the desireded xp machine I'm guessing I'd need to use my G5 to do this since the problem seems to stem from trying to use two different comps running xp?? Its problems like this that reafirms my love of OSX.

  • IOS 8.1 iPod touch 5 problems

I recently updated my iPod Touch 5th gen to iOS 8.1 and have found a few rather annoying problems.
    1) It now takes basically a whole day for my iPod to charge. I cannot use my iPod and charge it at the same time (or only on very low battery use apps), which I could before . The battery life has dropped pretty significantly. When I plug it in, it is extremely tempermental about being connected.
    2) I added some new songs to iTunes and it took over fifteen tries over a three day period to get it to sync my iPod.
    3) This one is very important as much as extremely annoying. When I start typing on the Internet, Safari will freeze up and stop working.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problems? Has anyone found any solutions?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
