Ipod touch drops connection
I just got a 8 gig touch and have a airport extreme.When I get 10 to 15 feet from the extreme it looses connection. As I walk away from the extreme the signal get weaker and weaker .
I have a macbook and imac that are 2 rooms away with strong connection.
I've reset the touch and updated software in the touch.
How far away can touch see a basesation ? Maybe its antenna is not connected.

somehow my firewall on my computer was blocking it. i added its ip address, and now it's fine. Watch out for zone alarm!

Last week my 5th generation ipod touch dropped face down onto the ground. When picked up the screen was black and did not turn back on. I tried to connect it to the laptop but it did not recognize the ipod. Also when it is plugged into the laptop the area by the camera gets warm like it is charging. But still has a black screen. - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

IPod Touch cannot connect to wireless network
I have a 1 TB, dual-band time capsule with a wireless network created to share our broadband internet connection for our main computer (the iMac), a windows PC, an iPhone 3G, and a 2nd gen iPod touch to connect to the internet. Wireless security for this network is WPA/WPA2 Personal. The windows box and the iPhone 3G connect without problem, but the iPod touch does not seem to connect correctly. The device sees the network, prompts for the password, and seems to be connected (wi-fi symbol visible in top left corner of device), but when trying to view a website using the Safari app, the screen dims and an endless "Connecting..." message is visible. Furthermore, when trying to update e-mail, I get a message that the connection to the server failed.
It is worth noting that the iPod did not always have this problem. It was able to connect to the wi-fi network until a few weeks ago. This may have been due to the upgrade to Snow Leopard, or perhaps due to an incident where the windows PC lost its connection to the network. When this occurred, I had to disable all security on the network, connect the PC to the network, then re-enable security (as I had to do when first installing the Time Capsule; for whatever reason, the windows box had a hard time joining the network with security enabled). Anyway, one of these two events is the likely cause of the iPod suddenly being unable to connect; I'm sorry to say that I'm uncertain as to which one, because my wife uses the device sporadically, so we cannot pinpoint exactly when this difficulty started.
As for attempted solutions, I tried resetting the iPod back to factory settings, only to have the same connection issues. I also changed the network security settings to None, and attempted to connect the iPod to the network (even though it should have no problem connecting to a secure network), but still no go. I am short on ideas for a fix, and would gladly welcome any advice the community has to offer. Thank you in advance for your assistance.Pretty much the same thing happened to me. My new Touch connects fine to my work wireless network (WEP64) - still does. But my home wireless network is SOL. I can join the router, wireless icon is in upper left corner (although gray, not green). I can even see the Touch from my router (Verizon FIOS). All other laptops in the house including wireless TiVo work flawlessly. I have not undone my security on my router yet - looks like it won't help. I have tried using static IP and I can still see iPod from router. But I cannot browse, go to AppStore, check email (which works great from work network), and have exact same error messages as above post. It has to be a security thing somewhere, I just didn't want to mess with router if I didn't have to. If I figure it out, I will post here........

I connected ipod touch to my IMAC while holding on/off switch as stated to by anothe community memberand problem is solved. I wasable to update and reatore. I have been trying to solve the disable problem

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

Can the iPod touch 5g connect to an audio amplifier via lightning to 30 pin adaptor and through a 30 pin to RCA cable adaptor? It works on the latest iPod nano but it doesn't on iPhone 6. I have spoken to the apple reseller sales personnel but he has no clue.
If it works on the 7G Nano and does not on the iPhone 6 I would not expect it to work on the 5G iPod..
