IPod Touch gen. 2 not booting up.

I have had the strangest errors with my iPod the last month. First the iPod goes crazy and recieves touches all over the display without me or anyone else touching it. So I'm having a loot of problems trying to turn it off because the iPod keeps launching apps and cancels the shutdown. When I finally shuts it down I can't get it to reboot. The iPod does not respond when I press the on/off button, the on/off button + home button or just holding the home button. I tried connecting it to my mac, it does not pop up on iTunes and doesn't seem to recive any charge, the screen is all black. The same goes when I try to connect it with the wallplug.
Anyone got any ideas or have anyone had any similar experiences?
Thanks

Not much else you can try at home. I'd recommend speaking with an Apple representative either at a retail store or over the phone. I'm not sure there are Apple Retail Stores where you're located but use this link to find a phone number for Apple in your country: http://www.apple.com/support/contact/phone_contacts.html

  • Help!  My iPod touch 2G will not boot up!

My iPod touch 2G will not boot.
Heres the specs of the problem:
It turns on with an Apple logo with a spinning wheel under it.
I have tried editing the hosts file with the Apple server codes.
I have tried restoring 16 times. (I log what I do on it)
The iPod has never been jailbroken.
    It is an MC model.
    It is 8GB.
Its formated for Windows. (Windows 7)
    iTunes 10.4
I have tried "The Tiny Umbrella TSS Server with SHSH blobs for iOS 4.1"
    I tried "RecBoot" no luck.
My Mom will kill me if I can't fix this.  I am going on a 9 hour vacation ride with 7 year old brothers that get really cranky.  I leave August 6th, 2011.  So I need to have it fixed before then. So i really, really, really need help!

Try uninstalling iTunes and installing the 10.4 iTunes that came out a few days ago.  Click start, run and paste "%Userprofile%\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates" without quotes.  Find iPod2,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw and delete it.  Try restoring again and Tiny Umbrella is only for iPhones.  Do not use it on iPod Touch or various errors appear.  iPod Touches can downgrade at any time (idk about iOS 5).  If it doesn't work, reply.  :)

  • I have 3rd Generation IPod Touch, it does not boot up.  We have tried to restore, but we are stilling receiving errors.  Any ideas?

I have a 3rd generation IPod Touch that no longer boot up.  I've downloaded the recovery, but it does not work.  It just lights up briefly and then we receive a message that the IPod drivers are not readable.  Any ideas what we can do to resolve?

If iTunes is not seeing the iPod try:'

You said you "download the recovery"?  What is the recovery?

  • Ipod touch Gen 4 not recognised on PC Win XP Pro

I have just got Ipod Touch Gen 4 and connected to PC but PC doe not recognise Ipod therefore cannot setup. I have updated Itunes to V10 and also did Win XP SP3 update and still no luck. Tried restarting Ipod. This is my 1st Apple product and already hate it as it is not working easily with PC. I'm sure that once it all gets connected I will be fine but finding it very frustrating so far.

Having exactly the same trouble. Did the 5R's, and have followed instructions online. Have rang Apple support, been to the Apple shop, and absolutely nothing. Can't get my PC or itunes to recognise my ipod touch gen 4 or my iphone. I had itunes installed, my ipod got stolen, and this is a replacement. It wouldn't connect when I got it out of the box. Apart from throwing it against the wall, I am at a loss as to what to do next. Oh and this has been going on for a week . I've lost count how many times I've uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.

  • IPOD Touch Gen 5 not recognized by iTunes

So yeah, my iPOD isn't being recognized by iTunes.
    Things I've tried:
    - Restarting PC and/or iPOD
    - Updating iTunes
    - Right click My Computer > Manage > Services > Apple Mobile Device > Stop/Start and Restart Service
Sometimes doing one or many of these things will work. It's annoying to have to do these things whenever I want to sync my music and such. The USB cord seems fine too, when I plug in the iPOD touch a box comes up saying a camera was plugged in. I've never had a problem with syncing my old iPOD Classic. I've always had problems with syncing the iPOD touch, since the second time plugging it in.

I'm running the latest firmware for my new Itouch and the latest Itunes. I hope I don't have to uninstall my itunes as I have ALOT of music on it. I dont wanna lose it all. I'm running windows 8 and followed the tutorial to a "T" to try to fix the problem but nothing worked. I did everything except the last step. Even checking my Computer for Updates (Itunes will not run if updates to my PC are needed). Help Please!

    hi,
how do i get the old ebay app my ipod touch gen 2 will not accept the new version?

If you didn't previously download the eBay app and have it still in a backup or somewhere, then you can't. The current version of the eBay app requires iOS 4.3 which will not run on a 2nd-generation iPod touch.
