IPod Touch issue

ok i have a few issues with my iPod Touch 8GB 2nd Gen
all these have occurred since i installed OS 3.0. I have just updated to 3.1 to see if the issues are resolved but seems they haven't
1.) WIFI problem. My laptop and PSP find my router with no issues. So did my ipod touch prior to installing OS 3.0. It will not find my router now. The only time it will find the router is if i sit about one meter away from the router itself and that is with a 1 bar signal. OS 3.1 has not resolved this.
2.) Battery draining. Guess what since OS 3.0 my battery has been draining with no use. I would have it fully charged and i may play a game for 10 minutes. My battery would drop to lets say 80%. And if i don't use it again the battery will be dead in under an hour. If i have it fully charged and dont use my ipod it will die in about 2 hours. OS 3.1 has not resolved this issue.
3.) overheating. Again since OS 3.0. The top 3cm of the back of my ipod is constantly hot. Its at least burning about 30'C. Im surprised my ipod hasn't exploded yet. OS 3.1 has not resolved this issue.
any way of resolving these issues?
anyone have the same problem?
so what can i do with my useless ipod now?

So what have you done for your iPod? You've updated software, but have you done a restart or reset? Have you tried restoring it?
I would suggest you start with the normal progression of troubleshooting - restart, reset. restore and see if any of those cures your iPod's ills.
As for WiFi, the best thing that you can do is update your router's firmware and restart your router. If you still have problems, reset your network settings and log back into your network using the other network route.

  • Multiple iPod Touch issues

I received my iPod Touch last Thursday and then spent most of Friday just trying to get the blasted thing to accept my wireless password. Note: I have multiple wireless devices, (one router) all of which use the same password with no problems. Finally, it accepted the password, allowed me to set up my ID and account, only to almost immedialy lose the wireless connection. Over the weekend, the iPod couldn't even find the wireless network. Finally, this morning I lugged myself to the Apple store (40 minute drive), waited for 45 minutes and finally got someone who knew what he was doing. Surprise - the iPod couldn't find the store's wireless network! After messing around a bit the "genius" (not a slam, this is what they call the techs) accepted that the problem was with in the iPod, not the user. He then replaced the iPod. Flash forward a few hours: I'm at a Panara Bread and decide to see if the iPod will work - nope, nada, nothing. It could not find the network! Came home and tried again - nope, nada, nothing! I keep getting the same error message: cannot connect/wrong password. I use the same password for multiple devices, none of which have this problem. My wireless router (Linksys) has only this one password programmed. My laptop (Windows), printer, phone all recognize and accept this password. The iPod will not. What do I do? I'm getting ready to scream because this is taking way, way, way too much time. I've never had this much trouble with a device before and really have no clue as to how to resolve this issue once and for all. Any help, any one can offer will be extremely appreciated. Thank-you.

I am so incredibly disappointed in Apple!! I have owned my Touch for less than a week and have already been given two replacement units - neither of which have worked. I have visited three Apple stores, worked with 4 different techs and had two long telephone contacts with tech support. Yet, I still am unable to get a Touch that actually works!
I did manage to get the third iPod to recognize the network, but the way I did it makes no sense to me - perhaps it will to someone with more knowledge. This is what I did after the store appointments and after the long phone tech support incident: Using the USB cord, I connected the iPod to my PC, accessed the Apple site, registered with my user name/password, went to the i-Tunes store, attempted to set up an account (more on this in a moment) and when the store recognized the iPod and accepted the registration, I unplugged the iPod from the PC and suddenly it found the network. Incidentally, I did this myself, with no input from the experts, it was simply an idea and it seems to have worked, at least somewhat. Now, as to why I say "somewhat": while the iPod can find my home wireless network, it cannot find any other network, including the Apple store network. No matter where else I take the iPod, it reads "network not found" or "no network access". On the iTunes setup: I managed to get all the way through the account setup before the iPod lost the wireless network, but at the last screen, the system kicked me out saying I was using an invalid password. BTW: this is the exact same password the same system had accepted less than five minutes before this error message appeared.
The final blow to all this incredible hassle happened just a bit ago: I tried accessing tech support, using the same serial # I've been using (the latest serial # from the latest iPod they have given me) and received a message saying that I must now pay for support!! Okay - so let me get this straight: I buy an iPod. It doesn't work. I take the iPod to the Apple store, where they confirm that it won't work. I am given a second iPod - which fails within hours. I return to the Apple store, am given a 3rd iPod - that also fails within a few hours. Now, I've used up my free support?!! Interesting.

  • Unhappy about this iPod Touch Issue...

    So here's the story.
My girlfriend bought me for Christmas last year 2010 an iPod Touch (refurbished). 2 months go by of being happy and all, then suddenly the audio jack goes bad. If you BEND the bottom piece of the wire where it connects into the ipod touch the sound gets static / distorted. A VERY big problem when trying to listen to music while walking with it in your pocket. I contacted apple support and set up a repair, sent it in. I got the ipod back still BROKEN. They didn't even bother to fix or check the headphones. I was told they do a standard check but if left notes they do not follow them. I was very unhappy, and mind you i've sold a few friends/family members on Apple products so i wasn't expecting them to be so disloyal...
I contacted Apple again right after I got the ipod back and found out the problem still existed. Mind you i bought BRAND NEW headphones and a BRAND NEW wire for my car, thinking it might be either/or and that wasn't the case. Not only did i waste 15$ on a car cable and 10$ on cheap headphones but they're telling me to set up more repairs for them to just send it back unrepaired again?
The guy i was put on the line with was kind and all and he actually seemed like he CARED. He said he could leave the people notes but they most likely will not bother to read them, he also told me that I can go to the closest Apple store (30-45 minutes away and I have no idea where they are or how to get there since I've never been to those cities.) I told him that wasn't really an option because I would have to drive 45 minutes there, ask them to order me a new iPod, wait 3 - 5 days for them to get the ipod in, drive ANOTHER 45 minutes there and back and it wasn't guaranteed they would trade it. I told him i couldn't do that and he told me he'd set up a repair and i try my luck that they read the notes. I hesitated so i don't waste my time again, 2-3 weeks pass and I just called again.
The new guy sounded as if he really didn't care about my issue. I told him my story. I asked is there ANY WAY I can just get them to send me a new ipod touch and i send my old one back. He abruptly put me on hold in the middle of talking and 5 minutes later comes back and tells me he isn't able to. For ipads ONLY he can do it but not for ipods. Why Not??? They're practically the same thing.
He set up a new repair and is telling me to send it in for repair but there is no point. They won't fix it.
I can't go to an Apple store, I can't send it in. It seems as if Apple is starting to get like their competitors (which is why i switched from pc to mac.)
    What i am asking is,
What can i do? Why can't they just exchange them through the mail? If my phone company has done it why can't Apple? Do they not trust their customers loyalty? Don't you think if i was to steal it and not send my old one back (EVEN though they know it's broken as I've called 3 times asking for a repair to fix it) they would charge my credit card the amount? It's not hard to really just do a simple exchange...
Just a very unhappy customer right now. Never had a problem with Apple until now.
    Thanks.

I think you're making some presumptions about the Apple Store. You haven't gone to talk to them. I'm betting you haven't spoke to them on the phone.
Anything around here is an hour away, so I get the 45 minute drive ordeal -- as well as I work 40+ hrs a week, go to grad school, have 3 kids to schedule and coordinate with activities/sports. If it's that important to you to get it fixed, contact the Apple Store. Go in.
If they are going to order you a replacement, ASK THAT THEY HAVE IT SHIPPED TO YOU. There, you just saved a trip back 45 minutes one way to pick it back up.
I believe several were helpful when they told you to go to the Apple Store. You just make an excuse for everything said.

  • New iPod touch issues. not recognizing in iTunes

i just got a new ipod touch and installed everything and itunes will not recognize the ipod. I went on support and tried what it said by holding down the sleep button and the home button at the same time until the apple appeared and then closing out of itunes and opening it up and plugging the ipod back in which helped it to recognize. the ipod then went into recovery mode and said it needed to be restored. Restoration began however, the connect ipod to itunes screen disppeared leaving a lit up and black screen and a window appeared in the "preparing ipod for restoration" stage that said "ipod could not be restored. an unknown error occured (1604). any ideas? oh and then the thing on the side that said ipod disappeared and it stopped recognizing the ipod again.

    Welcome to the discussions,
Error 1604 points at a problem with your USB drivers/connection.
Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the USB 30-pin dock-connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.

  • IPod touch issues since OS5: mis-filing of music and regualr crashes

Since upgrading my iPod touch to iOS5 I've had a few problems. Firstly the music cataloguing has gone haywire filing songs and albums etc under the wrong letters of the alphabet. Reset, erase, re-synch hasn't solved it. Un-checking all music synch options and then synching to erase all music followed by rechecking and resynching solved the issue a few weeks ago. But today I just added 3 CDs to my iTunes library and once synched the mis-filing has started again. It's also become noticeably slower reacting: it almost seems to stutter between selecting a track to play and moving to the now playing screen and starting to play.
Has anyone else had this problem? And does anyone know how to solve it permanently?

  • My 5th generation iPod touch issues

    Hey,
My 5th generation iPod touch is just over a year old. About a month ago I started realising that my battery wasn't lasting as long as it always had. I then realised it was getting really hot, and I have now noticed my front camera isn't working.
I have seeked lots of advice, I began dimming the brightness right down, closing all apps that were not being used, using airplane mode when I could, but still the same problems.
I then reset the iPod and then fully restored it but still no luck.
I live in the Caribbean right now on yachts and so getting to an Apple store is impossible. Is it a hardware issue and in need of being replaced?
If so how much is this going to cost me as it is now 2 months out of warranty?
    Thanks for any advice given

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for (USA prices) $99 for the 16 GB 5G and $149 for the ohter 5Gs. They do not fix yours. The following will allow you to select your country.

  • 5th generation iPod touch issues

About a week ago, I updated my iPod touch (5th generation), and I am now having some issues.
Even though my music plays and alarms go off, no sound comes out of the device (works while listening with headphones, but I need to be able to hear alarms in the morning)
    I cannot add new:
         Contacts
         Reminders
         Calendar schedules
I've tried resetting it, but nothing has changed.
Does anyone know what else I can try?
    Thanks!

    For sound
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack or other hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
For other problem go to Settings>iCloud and make sue yo are sign in and that Contacts, Calendar and reminders are turned on

  • FaceTime iPod Touch issue

I've recently bought an iPod touch and created an apple ID.
This is my only apple product I own. (so far)
I've been trying unsuccesfully for the past week to get my FaceTime to work.
Each time I go to settings -> Facetime I'm asked to enter my password. Upon doing so and hitting "log in" I go to the next window where I can press "next". However, if I do not hit next within the second, the window jumps back to the previous screen where I enter my password.
So, I tried using the FaceTime app (rather than trying through Settings) but that gives me the very same window as through settings (sounds logically ofcourse), again, here I enter my password and within one or two seconds it jumps me automatically back to the first screen. If I'm fast and I hit the "Next" button, it gives me the "controlling" status in the top bar, but that only lasts a second before going back to, you guessed it, the first window.
My mail is working properly (I'm using gmail, if that's relevant), but I simply can't get Facetime to work.
Earlier today, after being succesful with the "next" button, it gives me the message: "Adress can't be checked. There has been sent an e-mail with a link to the email adress above". However, I'm not receiving any e-mail in my inbox (I did check spam mail aswell, nothing there)
I've tried everything the support pages on the apple website offers for help, such as turning FaceTime on/off.
Any help any of you could offer is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    *EDIT*
I've been able to solve the issue by simply adjusting the following setting:
Verify that the date and time are set correctly:
Tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
    Toggle Set Automatically on.
After doing this, it took a second to set up FaceTime.
I hope this help some others aswell!

  • 2 gen iPod Touch issues?

I'm really thinking about buying a 2 gen iPod Touch next month, but I really want to know what is the biggest problem you are experiencing with it? Please tell me before I buy it. Thanks!

I just bought a touch 32G, after using a 1st generation touch 16G for over a year. BEWARE! I have found that not all accessories will charge the 2nd generation touch! - they will still play music, but you may get an error message when connecting your touch. I have 5 devices, 2 will not work (charging issue) What will work: Belkin auto fm transmitter, Griffin wall charger/USB cable, Phillips surroumd system with ipod doc. I have a ipod speaker system and a Ion DJ system that won't charge or sync with itunes. Best advice, before buying, try before you buy!

  • Win 8.1 - ITunes and Ipod Touch issues

I am running a new Envy TS notebook with Windows 8.1. I upgraded (1/23/14) to iTunes 11.1.4.62. After installation I encountered the procudure entry point error when attempting to start itunes. Per an Apple discussion group, I did the following:
Copy QTMovieWin.dll from c:\Program Files (x86) Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste intoc:\Program Files (x86) \ iTunes
This enabled iTunes to start but would not recognize my ipod. In Windows explorer, my ipod was listed only as Apple Ipod. I followed the recommendations to upgrade drivers to no avail. Finally I went to the control panel to uninstall the following Apple programs:
    Apple Mobile Device Suport
    Apple Application Support
    iTunes
I then reboted the system and reinstalled iTunes and rebotted the system once again after installation.
Windows explorer now recognized my ipod as well as iTunes. In fact, now when I plug my ipod in a USB port, itunes automatically starts up and performs a sync with the ipod touch. Haven't had that happen for quite some time.

    Hi JPM and Mlisowski ,
I-pods are the great mashines , but seem that some of the apple software do some mess in the win registries. They are running in the backround slowing a computer , and some times can do that Your other devices as a DVD reader just disapieres.
By my personaly experience , You can thry to use other (more windows friendly) free software to sincronyse Your i-pod,
and You may considere to check this  page

Since now , it solves some some problems for me.
Enjoy Your i-pod , GOOD LUCK , ad wish You all the best!!!

  • New iPod Touch Issue

I just got a new 64 GB iPod Touch.  I believe it's the most recent generation.  After setting it up as a new iPod and plugging it into my computer, the device doesn't show up on iTunes and an error message stating that I do not have the latest version of iTunes installed pops up.  I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes but when I plug in the iPod, I get the same exact message.  I have the latest version, 64-bit iTunes.  Why is this happening?

Do you have version 11 of iTunes?
    Did you try:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
Connect to another computer to help determine if you have a computer or iPod problem.
