IPod Touch Mail in Repair Question?

I am having screen problems out of nowhere(i didnt cause this) And i am sending my iPod to apple to fix. However the weird thing with my screen is that I only have the problems Sometimes :/ So i feel like Apple will check my iPod when it is not having the problem and think I am lying to them and charge me a fee. So is it okay I put a note in my box that explains to them how my problem only happens Sometimes?

Is this unit in or out of warranty? If it is out of warranty, I would send it to a third-party repair shop. I believe you will get a more personalized service and they may troubleshoot it longer. I sent a new iPod touch in once with a yellow hue to the screen. Apple sent it back and said it was normal. I went and sold it.

I'm new to ipod touch, 4g. My questions is how can I download a contact list other than through facebook or yahoo or gmail?

You can sync the iPod's Contacts app with some other contact programs/mail accounts.
Just where do you want to get/sync the contacts?

Ok So I am thinking of getting an iPod touch and was wondering can I setup the mail feature so I can view my Yahoo mail account because this is my primary mail account?

Yes you can. Go to settings, mail, add account, yahoo mail. Piece of cake.

  • TS3899 1st generation iPod touch mail question

I have a 1st generation iPod touch with a mac.com email address and while the iPod checks mail, it no longer is very reliable in sending mail.  Why is that?

  • IPod Touch Mail holds on to my ISP's server

If I check for mail with my iPod Touch over in-home Wi-Fi (Charter is my ISP), after updating the Inbox and going on to another app, (or not), or even putting the iPod on standby, if I try to check for mail on desktop Macs with the same account on the same Wi-Fi network it appears the iPod Touch is still tying up the Charter server as the Macs can't receive mail and can only be liberated by a full shutdown of the iPod Touch. I can't find a setting either on the iPod or at the server to solve this. Is this "the way it is" or is there a fix?

Does your Charter email use pop or imap? This does sound very strange as an email server request is generally a short lived transmission. This sounds more like a router issue rather than an iPod/iMac problem.
While I was reading your question, I received an e-mail on my touch and, while reading it, the same e-mail also came into my iMac (pop account). This should be the way it works unless you have the touch set to delete the e-mail on the server. So your problem still sounds like a problem of your router not releasing the port used by e-mail. I would look for and install the latest router firmware update that is available for your router.

  • Ipod Touch 1st Generation General Questions.

I just read where the 1st generation Ipod Touch cannot upgrade software past 3.1.3. SO I assume all of the Apps I have seen and some I have downloaded that state I need newer software are not useable on the Touch I have?
Oh man it appears I got something which is basicaly useless other then playing music like my Ipod Nano can do.
Can I load any Books on the Ipod Touch?
Where can I get information as to what the limits I have with this Ipod Touch 1st Generation so I can get an Idea of what I can do and what I cannot do so I am not sitting trying to achive something that it is not capable of?
I also do not want to irritate the heck out of the community by asking questions or trying to fix errors I think I have when in reality my Ipod is not designed to do the task in the first place.
I do see Wifi on my Ipod Touch but it does not appear to connect even when I use the correct password so I assume it is limited or has to have a Specific Security setup in teh Router to connect properly and would like th know that.
I read some of the Software 3.1 Manual but it does not really go into detail as far as wifi connections just the bare basics which I know I did correct.
I am thinking that it cannot connect to WPA/WPA2 Security and I will have to Dummy down my Wifi Security to accomidate the Ipod Touch is this correct and where can I get this Information also?
I bought this Used and have no Box or any Information about it at all.
    Thanks again

One if you can find an app that support the book format. Many book are available in non-DRM pdfs and I think you can find an app that will read pdfs. As you likely know, iBooks is not compatible with the 1G

    For wifi problem:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router.
    - Reset networks settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

  • IPod touch Mail crash

I'm having trouble with my iPod touch and the January Software Update. I had to restore my iPod a few days ago and now every time that I open Mail, it crashes. Is there a way to fix this, possible without having to restore my iPod again?

Im having the exact same problem.. everytime i try to look at mail it crashes... and then when i try to delete my account info and try again... it crashes again... so i go back into mail under settings and all my info is still there... is there anyway to solve this

  • IPod Touch Mail crashes after update 3.1.3

    Hi,
It seems that since we updated our iPods Touch (different ones, 2nd Generation) to software 3.1.3, Mail app stopped working. It opens for a few seconds then it crashes. I have reset one of the iPods completely and synced it again, and still the same behavior. Something curious is that I open Mail, delete some messages, it crashes, and Mail shows the same number of new messages, as if I hadn't deleted any, and upon opening the app, yes, there they are. Rest of iPods seem to be working fine.
An older iPod (1st gen) that we have not updated works just fine.
    Any clue or fix?
    Thanks

My iPod does the same, Initially Apple blame the ISP, after much discussion it seems that there is a problem with 3.1.3 but they are reluctant to admit it. Firstly be denying all knowledge of problem then by blaming others. I think the problem is too big for them to admit and they can't fix it in the short term. Some are re-installing old software from net to get over problem, but Apple won't support old software. If any one has found a solution please let me know.

  • Just received my 3th iPod from mail-in repair, and afraid to use it.

I bought my iPod in june 2005. I remember having trouble putting music on it for the first time. After i had put some songs on it RealPlayer showed that there was memory taken, but didnt show any songs on it. I dont remember how, but i solved it and my iPod worked.
Till september. I started it up with the apple symbol one time. And i got the language selection screen first, and then i saw that all my music was GONE! I took it back to the shop where i bought it (no apple store, just a random one). They tried to reset it, but they told me that it got stuck while trying. So they mailed in repaired it for me. And i got a new one that worked properly!
But in november, it started to get stuck while playing songs, i reset my iPod with the menu and middle button every time it happened. It happened more and more, and in december i got the sad iPod symbol for th first time. But sometimes it worked again, so i listened to it for maybe 2 more weeks. In those 2 weeks i got the sad iPod symbol loads of times. And for the second time, all my music got deleted! (I looked this up on the apple support site, and that isn't supposed to happen all of a sudden!!!! So why does it happen to me TWO times????)
After those two weeks I went to the support site and did everything there. reset it, format it, install the new software etc. No use.
most of the times my computer got stuck when i attached my iPod to it.
So i mailed in repaired that one too.
Now I have a new one. But i dont want it to go sad and messed up again! What is wrong with me! why do all MY iPods break?
I would very much like to know what I do wrong before i'm going to use my new iPod to make sure this one lasts!
Can anyone help me? Is it my computer? Is it because i use RealPlayer? Or do i just attracted iPods with production failyers?
    Thanks, Marijn

  • Buying iPod touch 2g - have 6 questions

    Tomorrow most likely. The 16gb. $280 ($20 off at Wal-Mart 8-)
Don't really care about the rumored iPod Touch 3rd gen; as the 2nd gen will be able to download the 3.0 software. I wouldn't use the camera anyways as it would probably only be 4 megapixels or less, and I have a 8 megapixel digital camera.
    Well, here are my questions.
1.) Since it is bluetooth compatible, will I be able to use my headset as a microphone to record college lectures? I would place the headset near the professor if he allows it. I know it doesn't have a built in mic.
2.) Hard case reccomendations? I heard good things about the Tumi T-Tech case. Id like for it not to hamper any of the functions.
3.) Im going to convert AVI movie files to MP4 movie files. There should be no hassle porting those to the Ipod right?
4.) Will I be able to drag my Mp3 song files into the folder which contains the songs? Or do I have to use iTunes. I feel that it is easier this way when you download from other music purchase programs.
5.) If Apple does announce the new iPod touch within the next month, does that mean it will be out on shelves? Or that the features have just been announced?
6.) Finnaly, screen protectors. I heard that you really don't need one. It's not like I would ever put it in my pocket with keys. What do you think?
    THANKS for ANY help!

just to add my opinions: (i think the above post covers 1-3)
4.) as Nocturnal says, you have to use iTunes. the iPod touch doesn't have a disk mode like other ipods, so the 'drag and drop' method which worked before will not work.
5.) thought you weren't that bothered about it? lol. i would imagine they'll announce it before it is released. that's usually what happens isn't it? educated guess, we're looking at early september (that's when the last two gens have come out) if there is to be a new release. put it this way, i upgraded to an 8GB touch from a 4GB nano, before they brought in the app store. if it was just down to my music and podcasts, 8GB would be plenty, but now i'm seriously starting to think i need that extra space! but i won't be buying just yet.
6.) i didn't bother with one, messed up putting it on, so just gave in. over a year later and i don't regret it. the back is a bit scratched, but that doesn't worry me greatly. i use a silicon case from http://www.exspect.co.uk/, it's starting to look a bit ragged (edges are splitting a little), but it does the job perfectly adequately for what i want.
hope you enjoy your ipod touch experience, it really is an amazing toy!

  • Hotmail on iPhone Or ipod touch mail app!!!

Hey people. Im only making this post to help people out. After a lot of research and a lucky unxpected find, i discovered a way to access your hotmail account on your maill.app
First you need to sign up for a GMX.com mail account (completely free, and EXCELLENT)
Then once inside, you need to add a mail collector account, suck as your hotmail
(The mail collector feature in GMX accesses your Hotmail account and downloads your email messages into the mail collector folder inside of your GMX mail account.)
(Inside the iphone mail app, once you set up your gmx account to work with it, you will have access to a folder that is named: "Mail Collector" and inside will be all of your hotmail emails.)
After you have signed up for a GMX email account, here is how to configure it with the Mail app:
    1. Under Settings, select "Mail", "Add Account", "Other", then "IMAP" or "POP" and use the following settings:
    Name: enter your name
Address: your full GMX email address
    Description: GMX
    Incoming Mail Server
Host Name: imap.gmx.com (when you're using IMAP) or
Host Name: pop.gmx.com (when you're using POP)
User Name: your full GMX email address
    Password: your GMX password
    Outgoing Mail Server
    Host Name: mail.gmx.com
User Name: your full GMX email address
    Password: your GMX password
    Advanced
Use SSL: Off (SSL only works with incoming not going, but to be sure, turn it off for both)
    Authentication: Password (both incoming/outgoing)
Server port: 110 (incoming) and 25 (outgoing)
If you selected to use IMAP, you can map iPod Touch folders to GMX IMAP folders. Test first if the default mapping works before changing anything.
To change the mappings, got to Settings>Mail>GMX.
    - Select "Advanced"
    - Select "Drafts Mailbox" and set it to "On the server > [GMX] Drafts"
    c. Select "Sent Mailbox" and set it to "On the server > [GMX] Sent Mail"
    d. Select "Deleted Mailbox" and set it to "On the server > [GMX] Trash"
Click on "Advanced" each time to return to the prior menu after choosing a folder

It may have just been that this was the first sync. The messages are all there, but are in reverse order with the oldest message at the top of the stack. It is neither a small nor orderly stack. It may have been because it was the initial sync and this was the order that GMX pulled them from hotmail.
Then there is the lag. I guess that you, like me, tested this out by sending yourself some messages "just to make sure it worked". How long did you find the lag between sending something to hotmail and recieving it through GMX? Right now, I'm sitting on 15 minutes since I sent one and it still has not arived in the GMX collector.
Edit: Never mind on that last part. Seems Hotmail thinks something coming from my gmail account is spam. Twice. But not the ones for blue pills, lotteries from Europe, financially challenged nobility from African nations, or the young lady that wants to get to know me better if only I would stop by her site and see her new pictures.
    Thoughts?

  • IPod Touch Mail App not working

My family just had FiOS installed a couple days ago.  It's taken my brother and I a couple days to notice that the mail apps on our iPod Touches (which worked 100% with our old Verizon DSL) are no longer working (i.e. they are no longer pushing emails from our Yahoo and GMail accounts to the iPods).
I deleted my Yahoo account from my iPod and then tried to re-add it to see if that would fix things and the message I got from the iPod reads: "the imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com is not responding. check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the incoming mail server field"  My brother's Touch gave him a different message regarding his Gmail account but he's not here at the moment for me to quote it directly.  Only via the wifi at work was I able to successfully re-add my Yahoo account to the iPod.  Now I'm back home again and when I try to refresh my inbox it's just "Checking for Mail..." indefinitely.
Note that it's only the mail app that is not functioning; all the other online functionality of the iPods (Safari, Youtube, weather app, iTunes) are working 100% with FiOS.  And as I mentioned above, the mail app worked today on the wifi at work.  It's only at home with the new FiOS that the mail app on my iPod stops working.
Any ideas?  Might there perhaps be something I can tinker with in the router settings?

Me again. I've discovered the mail app works when I set the firewall from maximum to typical. Is there any way to tell it to let it work on maximum?

  • IPod touch mail problem?

I recently reset the password for my Hotmail account and when I tried to check my mail on my iPod, which was already synced it asked for the new password and I entered it i got an error message saying "Unable to verify account information". I deleted the Hotmail account and tried to add again and I got the same message. I have entered the new password multiple times and I am ABSOLUTELY sure that I got it right. I have also added my email address multiple times and I'm sure that I've got that right too. I have reset the password once more and still have the same problem. I have an iPod touch 4th generation with iOS 5. What should I do? Any help will be most appreciated, thanks

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    If that didn't help try
Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears)

  • IPod touch mail loading problem

I recently started using email on my iPod touch. At home, it works great. I just moved back to school, and the email application works great in my dorm as well. In any other building on campus, however, I am unable to load mail. I can use safari and any other app that requires internet, but the mail just will not load. Is here a reason this is happening everywhere on campus except for my dorm? Is there a way to fix this? Thank you!
    -Stephanie

you should check with your school's IT department. they may have certain ports blocked in various buildings preventing this. If this isn't the case, then they should be able to advise you how to fix this.
