Ipod touch no longer connecting to wifi/internet

Have had my ipod touch for over a year. Just yesterday it stopped connecting to the internet/our wifi router. We have a 1TB time capsule that it has been connecting to fine but not anymore. Our mac mini and laptop still connect to it, but not the ipod touch. I have tried forgetting the network and resetting the network but still no luck. Any suggestions??
Thanks!

Start by rebooting your TC (remove the power plug). After that comes back up, try it again, and, if the problem is still there, reset your touch network settings.
When you touch restarts, tap Settings > WiFi > Other and re-enter your network name, security setting, and network password.
If your problem persists, try to find/connect to other networks. If it doesn't detect or connect to anything else, you most likely have a hardware problem and will have to either repair or replace the touch.

    what do i do if my internet is wep and i need it to be wpa2 because my ipod touch 4th gen connects to the internet but when i click on safari or itunes it says safari cannot open the page because its not connected to the internet. i have contacted apple support and they said to change from wep to wpa2 but when i change it to wpa2 and type in password and connect on my laptop it says the saved setting on this computer for the network do not match the require ments of the network

    My 2nd gen works fine with WPA2 and AES encryption.
    You may need to go back and start over.  Reset the router back to factory defaults, log on as the admin, set up security, DHCP, and make sure the IP address pool has enough IP addresses to lease to ALL of the computers/devices that will connect to that the router.

  • Newer 32GB iPod Touch no longer connects to MacBook.

    My newer 32GB iPod Touch no longer connects to my MacBook at all. All has worked fine until yesterday.  All cables and USB port check out fine with older iPod. Touch still works beautifully but charge is dwindling. Since it's not recognized by MacBook no charge icons show up. I ran the trouble shooting pages in Apple Support, did all the resets, repaired permissions, reinstalled iTunes, etc. Any suggestions out there? Thanks!

    Whenyou plug the iPod into the computer via USB does the iPod's screen show the iPod is charging?  (The computer has to be on)
    Look at the dock connecort on the iPod and compare it with the dock connector for the iPod that does work. Look for foreign material, bent, broken or corroded contacts and other abnormalities.

  • My ipod touch won't connect to wifi at home and it use to, it keeps saying my password is wrong

    My ipod touch won't connect to wifi at home, it use to work just fine, now it keeps telling me my password is wrong, but it can't be wrong because it is the same one I have always used. I also have an IPad2 that belongs to my daughter and it connects with our wifi at home with no problem.  But, why is my wifi telling me that my password is wrong.  I have tried everything, we have changed the pass word and that did not work.  We have have taken security off of our wifi and my ipod touch give me another message, but it won't connect to my wifi at home.  Please help... b/c the greatest thing for me is to be able to connect to wifi at home.
    thanks

    I have even shut down my ipod touch to see if it fixes the lack of wifi connection at home but it keeps telling me my password is wrong.  I can connect everywhere else, but not at home.  Pls help my.. I need to connect at home.  Does it matter if we have othere decives like ipads connected to the same wifi.  Because we have an ipad2 and my ipod and up until 1 week ago, we had very little issues keeping both of our devices connected at home.  Eitherway the ipad2 is still working just fine on our home wifi, but my ipod touch keeps refuseing to accept the password.
    Pls help, i am very frustrated and I have tried everything.

  • Ipod Touch 3G, Although connected to wifi, unable to connect to internet

    Basically the problem is that my Ipod Touch 3G is unable to connect to the internet, even though I am connected to the Wifi network. Are there any suggestions? I have read through the Apple Troubleshooting (tried resetting, setting static IP, etc.)
    Thanks

    I'm having the exact same problem with my 3GS running iOS4, however my iPd Touch can connect to the internet fine. I can connect to the wi-fi, but connecting to webpages and browsing or checking hotmail etc, no such luck. I have also setup a static ip address and also authourised the MAC address of the device on the BTHomeHub router.

  • Ipod touch 2nd Gen connects to the internet and then quits

    I have a 2nd gen Ipod touch that connects to the Internet and then it quits. I will then get the message the Ipod can not connect to the Internet.
    I have a Linksys WTR 610n wireless router (I have upgraded to the new firmware). My Ipod worked fine for about almost 2 years and then it started dropping the connection. I am not sure if was as a result of upgrading the Ipod to 4.2.1. but things started to go bad right after. It will connect from anywhere from 1 min to 20min and quit.  I can't downgrade to a previous OS the Ipod because I don't have a previous version of the firmware. Also Apps and Apple remote will not connect to Itunes when the internet shuts down. The Ipod recognizes all of the wifi routers in the area and its shows that it connects but then still nothing works.
    Sometimes it just says it won't connect to the server. I have tried no security, WEP WPA and WPA2.
    I have also tried:
    1) restoring my IPOD;
    2) resetting the network settings;
    3) rebooting the IPOD;
    4) forgetting the network and renewing the network lease;
    5) rebooting the router;
    6) resetting the router;
    7) upgrading the firmware of the router;
    8) setting the router to "G" only;
    9) setting the router to "N" only;
    10) praying to Steve Jobs; and
    11)
    I think that is everything that I could find on the discussion or elseware. If any one knows how to fix this, I would be extremely grateful.
    Thanks

  • 2.2 Generation one Ipod touch having trouble connecting to wifi

    Ok, I am having a BIG issue with connecting my ipod touch to a linksys WRT54GX4 wireless router running WPA/WPA2 wireless security (there is an option that allows BOTH to be selected, but I disabled WPA2 as an option after I first started having issues with the IPOD touch wifi).
    Here are all the details.
    Bought the Ipod touch last December and while the firmware version was in the "1's", I had no issues connecting to the router and using the wifi functions.
    After the 2.0 upgrade, I had intermittent connection issues with the router. Sometimes, I could connect to the router easily and maintain a connection; however, the MAJORITY of the time, I would select the router from the wifi list, and receive a "Cannot connect to router" error. When I could connect, I would often lose my connection after a minute or two (regardless of using safari, youtube or the email client; all three would cause the connection to drop).
    Now, in 2.2, I STILL get issues connecting to the router with no seeming relief! I find that after I restart the router (power off for 30 seconds), I am able to connect, albeit with a slower connection, for a while. After I put the Ipod on "hold" after that first time, I start getting the problems I listed above with intermittent connectivity. Since I am not the only person in my household who uses my router wirelessly, powering off the router whenever I want to connect the IPOD is NOT an option!
    Here are connection logs from the router, annotated by me to show different attempts to connect. I hope these can help a technician resolve my problem:

    This is incredibly frustrating. Should I return the IPOD to an apple store and ask for a new one? Is there a setting on my router that will allow the IPOD to actually connect?
    Some more information:
    *Mac filtering is off.
    *Encryption algorithm is TKIP
    *Group renewal key is 3600 seconds
    *First installed firmware 2.0 OVER 1.4. After I got wifi issues, I restored the ipod to 2.0 after a full format. Did not solve my problems.
    Please help...

    I am so disappointed! The exact samething has happened to me, AND my husbands Touch. We had no problems before, and as you say with 2.1 a little stared - I ignored it because I love and defend my touch. After 2.2 all heck broke loose, I went to the genius bar and of course it ran perfect there. I had numerous screen shoots in one day, 'failed to connect to server, safari server, gmail server' - timed out blah blah blah, so they suggested I call my internet provider, they run a test and everything fine, they suggest I call the router people, ten bucks later and with nothing really showing a problem with the router our Touches still do not work like they used to. I am NOT buying a iphone, I want Apple to fix it or tell me how, it worked fine before what the heck gives, I wish someone could answer honestly.
    Thanks for letting me get that off my chest, I really hate to switch to Zune as my nephew has been bragging about.

  • Brand New 5th Gen iPod Touch Won't Connect to Wifi

    I just got a brand new 5th gen iPod Touch and expected to have a fun night of playing with it, but instead I was trying to figure out why it won't connect to my network. Not a good introduction to a product.
    Here is the related info and troubleshooting steps I've already tried:
    - It will not connect to my wifi network
    - The iPod Touch says "Unable to join the network [network name]" when I try to connect to my network (as opposed to "Could not find the network [network name]" when it is not the correct network name)
    - I was able to connect to a random unsecure network nearby
    - Of course I power cycled my router and modem to reset them
    - My wireless router does not broadcast its SSID; I made it broadcast it and it still didn't connect
    - My network is password protected. I tried changing the security type, as well as turning the password off altogether, but nothing worked
    - My wireless router is a Netgear WGT624 v3
    - Even though it's brand new, I tried resetting the iPod Touch and the network settings
    Does anyone have any tips or solutions for this?
    I wasn't able to find other people with this problem, at least not with solutions that I haven't tried. It's really frustrating not being able to connect to the internet with my new device.
    I will point out that my Android phone connected to my wifi network on the first try with no problems.
    Thanks

  • IPod touch 3gen cannot connect to wifi

    My ipod touch 3rd gen no longer connects to the secure wifi network in my house. I've been having this problem for about a month now.  This past weekend I reset the network settings, restored and added everything back onto my ipod, reset my router and modem, and entered in the correct password.  It only stayed connected for a short while before disconnecting again.  Now when I try to log back on again making sure I use the correct password, it tells me the password is incorrect, etc.
    Am I missing something here?  Do I need to add something in the IP addresses, etc?  I feel like I'm running out of options and things to rule out here.

    I did all like you said. After that i have seen that my ipod touch isn't supporting 40mhz mode so i changed it to 20 Mhz and i put B+G band because my ipod is not supporting B+G+N mode. Nothing, i cannot connect. On my other 2 routers i can connect but...my other two are not mine
    I did some screenshots of my router's configuration. If is something to change please help me!

  • My ipod touch isn't connecting to the internet???

    The internet on my iPod touch has always worked, but today it's not connecting to anything. When I go to settings and then wi-fi it says it's connected to my internet but doesn't show at the top left bar and isn't working? I have tried turning it on and off, I've reset my network connection and have gone through the common wi-fi issues. This is really weird because it is actually connected to the internet but it's not working at all. Please help!

    - Have you tried resetting the iPod:

  • IPod Touch will not connect to WiFi network

    Hi,
    I am getting errors connecting to WiFi networks with my iPod Touch. This had affected a Touch I got a couple months ago. Initially, the WiFi worked perfectly on my WEP network and several others. Then, one day, I couldn't get any WiFi. After standard troubleshooting steps (forget network & re-enter, reset network settings, restart, restore iPod, etc.), it still wouldn't work. I returned the iPod and bought another. At first it also worked perfectly on any WiFi network I joined.
    But now I'm affected by the same issue. This time, I went to the router settings and saw that the router (a Linksys) had assigned the iPod Touch an IP address. Yet, in the settings pane on th iPod Touch, the iPod had no IP address. I just ahead and reset all network settings, forget the network, reset the update and still nothing. And this was recently after updating to 1.1.2 firmware.
    Given that this has now happened to iPod Touches, I'm concerned that it may be an issue that is affecting others. Any suggestions? The error I get in Safari is "Safari can't open the page because it can't find the server."

    same problem!it connects to the linksys(not always,but miracles happen),and it can't load any page. it's really anoyingi. actually remember that the first day i bought it could've connect to linksys,but then my dad just helped me to acces our network and i didn'try to use it. but when i was in neighbourhood and wanted to open safari, it found me a link sys,but couldn't load anything. like nothing,even thou the signal was pretty strong...and i tried to do something like this in different places and buildings,the only place where i could actually connect is home with my network,that's it!
    i don't want to return my ipod,but it really drives me to it..=/
    is there anything that i can do?
    tnks.

  • My iPod touch won't connect to wifi?

    I recently got an iPod touch 5th gen, and at first everything worked fine. Randomly, it stopped connecting to my home wifi network. Other devices (my brothers phone, my tablet) connect to it fine, but with my iPod it says it's connected and I have 3 bars of wifi, but Safari won't load any websites, none of my social media apps work, and it acts as if it has no wifi connection. It works perfectly fine at other wifi networks (I've tried it at school and at some public wifi locations), but it won't use my home wifi. I've tried turning the wifi off and back on, restarting my iPod (holding down power+home buttons), resetting network connections, tapping "forget this network" and joining it again, making sure that I am on the latest update of iOS, and nothing seems to work. I've tried setting the HTTP PROXY to "Atuo" because I read somewhere that it solves the problem, but everything is the same. I connect to the wifi and it works fine for like 1 minute, and then it just stops working. I don't get any error message or anything either. I don't think it's my router because like I said, all the other wireless devices in my house are able to connect just fine. If anyone could help me with this, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
