IPod Touch will NOT sync in iTunes for Windows Vista

I get this error message. "iTunes requires a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support. Please uninstall both Apple Mobile Device Support and iTunes, then install iTunes again."
Well, I did that, then I reinstalled iTunes. The AMDS didn't reinstall with the iTunes software! Instead, it kept rolling back again and again. I uninstalled iTunes again, made sure everything was deleted with Windows Install Clean Up, then tried to install iTunes 8.1. Well, this installed AMDS, but it also installed iTunes 8.2 instead - and I am getting the same error message again. Is my iPod touch completely useless now? I can't update the songs on my computer to it, so what am I supposed to do? My computer is recognizing it and saying it connected and allowing me to open it, but it will not appear in iTunes. HELP!

IS NO ONE FROM APPLE WILLING TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE? This problem is being discussed all over the internet. Something is WRONG with iTunes 8.2 that is PROHIBITING iPod Touch devices to sync with it. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? I have been unable to contact ANYONE about the issue, and a support person literally hung up on me while I was explaining my problem, like he knew what was happening. WHAT DO I DO? I have a non-updated iPod Touch that is just being WASTED because I can't sync it with the newest version of iTunes. APPLE, YOU NEED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.

I have recently updated itunes and on the back of doing so my Ipod touch will not sync my library. The Ipod itself is a couple of years old but using iOS 6.1.6.
I have deleted and re-installed Itunes. I have wiped my Ipod to start again. I have set it to sync over Wi-fi and nothing has worked. I physically plug the Ipod in and it gets detected. If I change a setting and click apply it briefly says syncing and then nothing.
I have set automatically download Itunes songs etc etc etc and absolutely nothing seems to get it to sync!

  • Ipod touch will not sync with itunes 9

i have a large libary on my ipod touch that wont sync to itunes. Also will not load playlist. Just purchsed a few shows and i try and sync and i says its done but still not on the ipod touch. please help!!

Syncing on a touch is iTunes -> iPod, not the other way around. If you have a large library on your iPod that doesn't exist anywhere else (very bad practice) and need to move things to iTunes, you have two choices:
    1. Purchased items can be transferred by selecting, in iTunes, File > Transfer my purchases
    2. Music you have added from CDs you ripped yourself: Google "Pod to PC" for a freeware program that can do this for you.
As to your purchased shows, you most likely downloaded them in the wrong format. iTunes lists programs in HD (for the Apple TV) and regular definition for the iPod. Just go back and download the correct version.

  • HT1386 My ipod touch will not sync to itunes after installing version 11.  My computer recognizes that it is connected, but itunes, media moneky, and sharepod would not recognize it.  I tried every suggestion apple and other community folks suggested-no l

itunes diagnostics only finds that no ipod is connected when it really is.  I have tried different cords, unistalled/reinstalled itunes, erased my ipod started over, restarted computer, etc.  My ipod is useless now that I cannot sync it wth itunes and there is now no music on it.  Its a paper weight now.  All of the posts I have read have no solution for this.  I would love to go back to itunes 10 because none of this occured until I downloaded that version.

  • Certain Songs Purchased on iPod Touch will not sync to iTunes.

A couple of songs that I purchased on my iPod Touch won't sync/show up on my computer. The others made it. I have no idea how to sync them to iTunes since they aren't automatically showing up. What should I do?

Could it be a ratings issue?
Do you have ratings restrictions set on your computer?
Are the songs that do not transfer marked "explicit"?

  • New IPod Touch will not sync with Itunes-updated to iOS 7.1.1 for new IPod

Just purchased new IPod Touch (purchased 6-3-14 - had a Classic until it fried). After setting it up, I tried to sync to ITunes and it says it syncs but does nothing. No music transferred to IPod. I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.8 if that means anything. This is very frustrating as I am not a computer whiz and really want to use my IPod in my really long commutes to work. Thanks for any insight...

    Hi abbeyesque,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like your iPod touch is recognized and syncing, but it isn't transferring the content that you expect to be transferred. Take a look at the article linked below, it will show you how to select the iPhone in iTunes and where the tabs are (second picture) that control what is synced to the iPod.
iOS: Syncing your data with iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386
    Sync using USB
    Open iTunes.
Connect the iOS device to your computer using the included USB cable.
Click the Device button in the upper-right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button first.) If you don't see your device, you may need to hide the sidebar. Choose View > Hide Sidebar.
Some tabs may not appear if you don't have the corresponding content in your library. For example, if you don't have any podcasts in your library, the Podcast tab won't appear.
Click Apply, in the lower-right corner of the screen, to sync.

  • IPod Touch will not sync with iTunes on new computer

I recently got a new computer (Dell to HP, which shouldn't make any difference). I downloaded iTunes on the new computer and was able to get all my music, tv shows, and movies onto my new computer using a Flash Drive.
I have contacted iTunes help twice now and they have basically given me nothing to work with. I have all the updated software (2.2.1 or so), and I have restore my iPod Touch about 3 times because I was told this would work.
When I try to sync my iPod Touch, it tells me that it could not sync because certain songs "could not be found". I have every single one of my purchases and stuff from CDs on my iTunes and I just want this fixed so I can use my iPod Touch again.
My iPod is now empty except for a few applications and pictures that, for some reason, were able to get past all that and can be synced. If anyone has had this problem, please please please help me. I am getting very close to ripping my hair out with frustration and/or throwing my iPod Touch out of the window.

unless you do TWO (and I mean BOTH) things... 1) put the audio files in the same path as on the old laptop... and 2) copied over (or exported) library info, you will have to do something else... and all it is, is to tell the itunes to "add folder".
Once you add the folder, just consolidate it.
When I bought my new laptop, I had copied my music library and the extra account information. I restored the account info, but put my music in a different location (on a completely separate drive, which has saved me a few times since). So I had to change the preferences to point to the correct location, and it picked up ALL the songs.
I've since done a recovery on my new laptop a few times... and unfortunately I didn't save a copy of the account info (my old laptop has "glitched" out since, and I have no access to that info either). So even though my music is still there, I have to tell iTunes to "add folder", even though I changed the preferences to use that same folder as its library.

  • IPhone 2 to use as iPod Touch; will not sync to iTunes

I am a mom to triplets. For their birthday, I got three deactivated iPhones to restore as iPod Touches (for games mostly). One is an iPhone 3 (no problems with turning it into an iPod); however, the two original iPhone 2s will not allow me to sync on iTunes. I have original sim cards in each and I have restored the phones. On the iTunes screen, it indicates that I must activate with AT&T (thus, purchasing / adding to my current plan), which I do NOT intend on doing since these are for game use only! On iTunes, when I right click the iPhone on devices, the only option it gives me is it eject. The iPhones are both stuck on the "Slide for Emergency Call" screens. According to everything I have read, I should be able to make this transition; however, I suppose I am missing a very important link. Please help!!

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3406
I read this article (above) and tried to activate with original sim card. Did not work. I then put my husband's sim card in. It actually took me further, but AT&T is wanting me to change/add to my plan. I am very confused about this and don't want to sign up for something that will not cost me additional money. Do I go on through the process and click on changing my plan and then try to change it back? I just don't want anything that will be on a 2-year service agreement that I didn't really want anyway!

  • My ipod touch will not sync with itunes

I updated my ipod touch and now the music won't sync to itunes. Itunes recognizes the ipod and even knows which artists I have chosen for it.  The apps are all there but not the songs or videos.  When I click SYNC it skips the steps that would actually sync the music. I am afraid to reinstall itunes because I don't want to lose my selections.  I have a large music library and this ipod touch cannot accomodate the entire library so I had to pick and choose some favorites. I tried restoring the ipod to the backup library and to factory settings. Nothing works. It's driving me nuts. Please help if you can. Thanks!
