I can't get my ipod to play videos on my tv.I get sound but no video.Also i can't get the video out to turn on.

Is the iPod software up to date at version 1.0.2? It needs to be.
Do you have the correct cables? Older cables won't work with the Classic.

My 30g ipod video just hanged...

i just hope that there are people out there who can help me...i was listening to my ipod....and all of a sudden it stopped..i thought i jst accidentally pressed the pause button or lessen the volume..but as i checked it i saw that the ipod is still on play but the timer is not changing...and i cant even turn it off...i tried to connect my ipod to m laptop..but the computer cant detect my ipod which is the first time it happened...and after connecting it to the laptop..the ipod screen doesnt show the charging display and it still shows the display like it was playing a song....please can someone help me...

Have you tried holding the MENU and SELECT (center) buttons until you see the Apple logo to reset the iPod?

Can you sync "actual DVD videos" to your ipod Video?

Does anyone know (perferably iPod video owners) if you could download a DVD onto your computer, either from a DVD to your computer, or from limewire, or kazaa, or something, then sync it to your iPod? if it has to be a certain format, and it is not the correct type, how do you convert it to the right type of format? Thank you anyone who can answer this question.......i am considering to get an iPod Vidoe 30GB and knowing the answer to this question would very much help me make my decision on weather to get it or not...thank you again!!!

yes you can

ipod plays mov and mp4 files, there are numerous third party software that allow you to convert other video formats to mov or mp4 (Videora being one of the freeware ones). Others can convert movie files directly so you can throw them onto your ipod after converting them.

USB 2 Card not seeing iPod Video

so i bought an usb 2 pci card from techgear. the card works fine with things other than my 30 gb ipod vidoe and 60 gb photo. it can see them and they lock up in the do not disconnect screen. it works fine with my 20 gb 3rd gen.
i have tried to use a powered hub. no luck. i guess i was wondering if anyone has any ideas at all about how to get this to work.

This is where it is nice to have two drives or a partitioned drive. You can have a clean installation of software on one drive and change settings or update software on another. If the camera stops working, you may have updated to a version of Quicktime that dropped support for the camera. You then reboot to the original hard drive and go back to what works. I believe the install disk took you back in time and that is why some of your quicktime features were lost.

Help ipod almost dead

my ipod vidoe was splashed with tea two weeks ago. we let it dry and proceeded to try and turn it on....nothing, until we plugged it directly into the wall. it does not work when plugged into the computer or when it's portable. we have let it charge overnight. when it is plugged into the wall it plays fine all songs are there as soon as you unplug it it goes dead also clock resets please help me figure out what the problem is. do i need a new battery?

The only reason that makes sense is that the battery is damaged. Liquids are very harmful for you iPod and Apple recommends to keep the iPods away of them since even rain can hurt it. If you tried drying it and then turning it on after few hours I doubt there is anything else you can do. Did your warranty expire yet? If not, I suggest you contact Apple right away.

Need more battery life...

I'm going on a veeeeery loooong plane ride and would like my son to be kept busy watching some of the videos I've purchased... how can I get more than 2 video hours from my ipod vido (30) without a power source to plug into...?????

To put it plainly using this hack software voids your warranty and has often fried the nano from ever working again.The creators of that software does not suport the nano nor does apple supoort this hack software. Use at your own discretion. But if you have trouble with it then your on your own.
here is a more logical and easier solution to your video dilemna.
SELL your ipod nano. Thne use th emoney earned to buy the larger ipod video. Why rely on a possible hack that WILL void your warranty and likely fry your nano when logically you can sell the nano and get the ipod vidoe?????

Problem That Might Be Common Place. Please Help!

OK so i finally was able to update my ipod Vidoe 30GB to the new Version 1.1.2. I also have the latest version of itunes installed. The problem i am having is that my itunes doesnt recognize my ipod. i tried most everything that was suppose to help but nothing seems to work.

DIRTY ROTTEN THIEVES

I got an ipod video (30gb) in Novenber '05 and spent many, many hours putting songs and videos on it.Unfortunately my home was broken into and among the items stolen was my computer.
My major concern now is that I no longer have my itunes library backed up. Is there any way that I can transfer the contents of my ipod to a new computer once I mange to get it replaced??
I have heard some horror stories that this is not possible - so I'm desperately hoping that some kind soul will be able to give me some advice.

Itunes downloaded videos

I have the latest itunes and have downloaded Quicktime separately. I have windows xp home addition, yet when I try to play downloaded music videos in itunes on my computer the sound sticks like a record stuck in the same groove yet the picture works. The whole screen then locks and I can only get out of itunes by delete alt control and then end task. Any ideas anyone please?? It used to work fine. It is only since I downloaded the last 2 itunes updates. Is there a compatibility problem? The videos work fine on the ipod vido player!!

I'm trying to put notes for the first time on my Ipod vidoe 30gig. It's not going well, I downloaded the new Itunes the other day, and there is no notes tab on the Ipod display. In the notes part on the actual Ipod, it says you need to simply drag the files into the notes file, which of course I can't do as it's not there. I have tried dragging the files onto the Ipod icon on the desktop, and it seems to accept them, but there's no sign of them on the Ipod. Disk use is enabled...
Can anyone help me?

Storing and Reading Notes
You can store and read text notes on iPod if it is enabled as an external disk (see page 45).
1 Save a document in any word-processing application as a text (.txt) file.
2 Place the file in the Notes folder on iPod.

To enable iPod as an external disk:
1 In iTunes, select iPod in the Source pane and click the Summary tab.
2 In the Options section, select “Enable disk use.”
3 Click Apply.
So double click on the iPod icon on the desktop. Inside the you should see 4 folders:
Calendars
Contacts
Notes
Photos
Drop your text files into the folder named Notes. Make sure you saved them as text files (they should be named somename.txt).

Converting vidoes to play on iPod?

Hi. I use itunes 8. According to the instruction itunes has to convert the movie into a format copmpatible with the iPod. (that is MPEG 4). When iTunes converts the vidoe file to MPEG 4 all the audio is lost. I only see the picture when I play the converted version. What can I do to solve this problem?

Quicktime or Quicktime Pro (both of which iTunes uses) does not convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.

You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.
