IPod won't correctly sync.

I've been trying to sync my iPod 5G 80 gb for the past couple days, and have been having some serious problems.
First, it was just syncing slow, so i attempted to sync only 1 playlist, and it deleted all of my music. With this, i knew i had a problem, because i have 13000 + songs
Next, i tried to sync all of my music. This worked up until about 80 songs(not far), and then it started syncing very slowly again. Eventually, it came up with an error message, and only my songs up until "AL" appeared on my iPod. Upon trying to sync again, it would show the files being corrupted on my itunes, and a message was shown to me telling me that i should restore. I restored my iPod, and tried again, and the same errors occured.
Lastly, i tried manually managing music. At first, this worked, and i was able to successfully sync about 3 albums worth of music, but after a few more albums it began to sync slowly, and my music began to become unplayable or jumbled on my iPod.
Please Help! I just want to be able to sync my iPod

I have had the exact same problem. I was able to sync my movies and they play on my Ipod but my music won't.

  • Change iPhone to iPod:  won't restore/sync

I have an iPhone 3G that no longer has phone service, but otherwise worked perfectly fine.  Took it to AT&T store and they wiped it clean and told me to Restore and then sync.
I have restored 3 times, but the iPhone continues to show only an arrow indicating "connect to iTunes."
My older son has an iPod & am able to sync or do whatever to that device.  Attempting to turn older iPhone into an iPod for younger son.
Unfortunately, not being prompted to sync when connected to iTunes.  ANY HELP out there, I'm desperate!!!

  • Ipod won't fully sync after latest update!

I have the most recent ipod and itunes update but it erased EVERYTHING off my ipod and didn't restore it. I lost over 3000 songs that now will not sync. It's backed up on itunes but now it's only syncing 200 of the 3000 songs. Majority of my music was imported from cds to the library and I don't have the cds anymore but, like i said, its on itunes. They play fine on itunes but how do I get it on to my ipod now??

same here i downloaded itunes 11 last night and this morning i get an "error -42408" so altough my itunes recognizes my ipod, it simply wont sync and asks me to eject manually. I tried restoring and it still wont sync.

  • IPod Won't Finish Sync

So, today I've had to restore my iPod to factory settings about our times now. Every time I try to re-sync all my music back, it'll slow down significantly and stop around after 1700 songs or so (out of roughly 3700). When I try to eject my iPod, iTunes crashes and the files already copied do not show up on my iPod. When I reconnect to my MacBook, it shows everything I copied as "Other" and not "Music." I've tried this several times already and it still won't work.
EDIT: Make that five restores tonight.

So now I've also tried connecting it to my Windows PC and restoring it, and iTunes does the exact same thing. It locks up on one song and never finishes the sync, and crashes when I try to eject.
My iPod didn't start doing this until yesterday.

  • IPod won't charge/sync

Sometimes my ipod will charge when plugged into my computer, most of the time it won't. Sometimes it will start to sync and show up on iTunes, then it disappears from iTunes after about a minute and the sync is cancelled (but it may still be charging). When I go on Music part of my ipod the screen freezes to just show a music note and the words 'Canceling Sync'. The first time the sync was cancelled all my songs (but no apps) were deleted. Since iTunes won't recognise it I can't put the songs back on.
I have already done the following:
Restarted and attempted to restore the ipod (can't restore as it isn't recognised though), nothing happened.
Removed and reinstalled iTunes, nothing happened
    Restarted my computer, nothing happened.
USed a different USB port, nothing happened.
Used a different USB cable, nothing happened.
I'm pretty sure that my ipod is causing all the problems as my sister's works fine, it's recognised and charges with no problems.
A few days ago it took a while to begin charging, then today out of nowhere all these problems began.
My ipod is a first generation iPod touch and my computer is an iMac with Mac OSX 10.6.7 by the way.
What should I do? I don;t want to take it to service as since the iPod is pretty ancient, it would cost a fortune, but I really need it to be fixed. Help!

Did you use the same cable that worked for your sister's iPod?
Look into the donnectoru are of hiPod and look for corrosion and other abnormalities on the contacts.
You can try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
I don't understand what you mean by the parts I have made bold. Yeah I have two cables. One is mine, the other is my sister's. Both work on hers. None work on mine.
I have reset. didn't work. What do you mean restore from backup/factory default. Wouldn't i nedd itunes to do this and iTunes refuses to recognise my ipod no matter what I do.

  • Ipod won't stop syncing

I recently reinstalled Windows on my computer, and plugged in my ipod. It updated all the songs and everything, but even after it's finished copying all the files, the little swirly thing that says "ipod syncing, do not disconnect" just keeps going and going. Also, it won't copy all of my videos to my ipod. That one I can't figure out, since they're all the same file type and it appears to be random selection. Why won't my ipod stop syncing?

If you're set Manually Manage, the Do Not Disconnect icon will not disappear on its own...you have to manually eject the iPod. Are you set to Manual Manage or Auto Sync?

  • Ipod won't recognise, sync, or charge!

the other day, i realised my ipod was flat out of battery, so i plugged it into my computer and then left it, assuming that it would charge.. like usual! so i checked up on it 5 minutes later.. and to my horror, the ipod had heated up, it wasnt on, nor was it charging! so i immediately unplugged it. hours later i decided to charge it with the wall charger. it charged perfectly, so today i tried to sync it, but unfortunately, it wasnt syncing, charging, let alone windows recognising my ipod. i tried with 3 different cables, nothing was coming up! i even tried connecting another ipod to the pc, the other ipod worked, however my one still wasnt being recognised!
i have tried using the menu + select button method, and the putting to hard disk method. nothing has been working so far
please help! i really want this ipod to update with my songs!
any help would be greatly appreciated! thank you!

  • Ipod won't finish syncing at the last stage

my ipod just keeps saying its syncing and never ends.
on my ipod my list of tracks are there but instead of being black, they're grey so i cant play any of them

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • New Ipod won't finish syncing...?

I have just received a new Ipod, a 5th generation touch, and I have been trying to put my music on it all day. I have tried restarting both the ipod and itunes. I have restarted my computer. I have uninstalled and re-installed itunes. I have restored my ipod. I have tried dozens of things and no matter what it continues to get stuck at step 5: Changes Waiting to be Applied, and it will go no farther. I have been at this all day and I'm ready to tear my hair out. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Unknown error (-50), ipod won't save sync options

OK, I'm having one **** of a problem. The error message reads (-50) "an unkown error has occoured" apple support has been on no help so far...
Basically every time I try to save new settings in itunes and hit apply this message comes up, and then another "ipod cannot be updated disk cannot be read or written to" itunes freezes up then an "unkonwn error has occoured (-50)" error message a minute later.
Then when I reconnect it it says that no folders to download has been saved. I've tried to "enable disk usage" but that dosen't save.
This problem was temporaily eleviated when I downloaded 1.0.2 but then when I had to reset my ipod because it froze up, it wouldn't function agian. Just when I thought I had the problem solved. The same ** frustrating cycle.
I thought maybe downloading 1.0.2 agian would help but it reads that is already downloaded.
    I'm stumped guys, please help.

  • UPDATE. CORRUPTED IPOD WON'T SYNC CORRECTLY.

Okay, so it's still me from the iPod classic problem. After erasing the volume with the aid of Disk Utility (still don't know how I made it work), I decided to restore the iPod on iTunes and sync it back all over again. I must warn you though, that I have 5000+ songs on my library. When I first tried, only 2000 songs uploaded before it froze. So I manually unplugged it and when I plugged back on it said that my iPod was corrupted and that I had to restore it. So I did, but upon syncing it froze after only 35 songs, so I did the same exact thing and it said that I was corrupted and I had to restore again. And now it just freezes and ask me to restore it every time. I already tried resetting the iPod through the center button and menu shortcut, but the problem persists.
What should I do? Please, please help me, again this is iPod is a week new!

I am having a similar problem. I sync my ipod fully, but when its done, all music and videos show up in other. All my pictures stay, but everything to do with audio and video is gone.

  • Recently got a new iPod 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod - any suggestions?

Recently got a new iPod Touch 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod after multiple attempts, despite all songs showing properly on the Mac and multiple syncs occurring after all songs were properly reflected on the Mac.  I updated iTunes Match from the iTunes Store menu as well pre-sync.
I should mention that I had previously had the library on a Dell (which is still running) and shared it on my home network.  While all iTunes purchases now show in the Dell, the Mac is the device I use for all syncs.
There appears to be no rhyme or reason to the iCloud physical sync failure - some songs were legacy, some were purchased via the PC, some on the old iPod.
The Mac shows all the songs correctly and none show iCloud status -all have been downloaded, but the downloaded songs that were previously showing up as iCloud based aren't syncing to the iPod.
Is there any way to force all music being seen by my iPod as iCloud to download to so I can listen to them offline?  Is there a way to force the sync from iTunes?

The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts.  Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone.

  • After updating to 8.1.2 my iPod won't sync and all artwork is missing

Has anyone else experienced this - updated to 8.1.2 this weekend, now iPod (5th gen) won't sync with iTunes on PC (skips straight to Step 4 without doing anything).  All my music artwork is now missing too?

Correct sync settings are verified. Not sure why I should need to back up and restore - it synced fine before the "upgrade" to 8.1.2. Obviously I can reset/restore when I have time to do so, and hopefully that might work, but why have Apple released an upgrade that made my device unfunctional?

  • Playsists selected for syncing no longer exist? ipod won't update

My new ipod won't update because it says that playlists I've selected for syncing no longer exist. For this reason I can't get any of my music onto my ipod and I don't understand what I am supposed to do to fix this
    dell inspiron   Windows XP

Hi guys, I've been having the same problem. Specifically, when I try to transfer songs from iTunes to my iPod I get the following error message: "Songs in the iPod "My iPod" cannot be updated because all the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist". I did some searching around at this site, and found that one possible problem is that my library is larger than my iPod's capacity, so I have to eliminate some songs. I did this, but I still get the same error message.
