Ipod won't sync with windows 8

The Ipod connects and shows up in iTunes (yes latest version) but I can't sync - it's grayed out. For some reason all the songs on the Ipod are not also present on the computer. The original computer the iPod was set up on was a Vista machine. It died, bought a new Win 8 machine, transfered all my content over from the old drives, but can't get it to sync.

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
New cable and different USB port?
Runs this and see if the results help with determine the cause

IPOD won't sync with Windows

iPOD had worked with same PC. I rebuilt the PC (new OS, reloaded apps, restored music to new drive). iPOD works standalone, but when connected to PC, iTunes shows the iPOD songs "grayed out". Repeated sync attempts (I have added new songs to PC) fail as iTunes tells me it is syncing the iPOD, but finishes within2-3 minutes (there is 14G of music on PC, and while only 20 songs changed, nothing is truly sync'd).
I cannot unselect any song on iPOD when viewing it via iTunes as everything on iPOD shows up in gray.
Did the rebuild of the PC, and subsequent reload of iTunes break the awareness between my PC and iPOD? iTunes correctly identifies my iPOD by name...

Connecting to a new computer will always erase your device first. But you can copy your music bought in iTunes before, if you disable autosync in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices, right click on your iPod in the device list and choosing "transfer purchases".
After your songs are copied, let iTunes set it up again and sync the music back again.

I recently reinstalled my OS on my laptop (xp) and now my ipod won't sync with my itunes. It recognises that the ipod is there, I have restored the ipod using this itunes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and it still won't sync. I have an NYEparty tomorrow that I want to use a playlist I have on my itunes for so would be handy if I could get the playlist onto my ipod by then! Any help much appreciated!

IPod won't sync with iTunes on Windows 7/64 bit PC

I just updated my PC to Windows 7/64 bit. iPod will not sync with iTunes. I have uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes, and tried all the suggestions on the Internet (except restoring the iPod, too scary; and modifying registry on the PC, too too scary). The device thinks it has the most current software. The iPod tries to connect and appears briefly but then disconnects. A Windows message appears asking the following: "Do you want to scan and fix My iPod? There might be a problem with some files on this device or disc. This can happen if you remove the device or disc before all files have been written to it." If I tell it yes to scan it gives another error message that is it not recognized. If I tell it to skip the scan, the device disconnects and nothing happens. No syncing. I am at a loss as to how to fix this. Has anyone encountered this type of issue and if so - how did you resolve it. I don't want to restore the iPod as I do not know if it will ever connect and sync again and all the music on it now would be lost and the device would be useless. New Ipod touch won't sync with window's vista/itunes 9.2 - help!!

I charged my brand new ipod touch via my computer, have it plugged it into my computer's USB port, and Itunes acknowledges the device in the left hand menu BUT it automatically says "itunes could not connect to the itunes store. The network connection has timed out". The ipod will not sync with my itunes! I tried connection/disconnecting, turning the ipod on and off, and restarting the computer. No luck. What do I need to do? Please help, I was so excited to get the new ipod and now I can't use it! I have window's vista and I don't know anything about how to check or change computer settings that might be preventing the store from opening (it used to open, but I haven't tried in a while and I just downloaded version 9.2 today).

Just converted to Windows 8 and my IPOD Classic won't sync with my Itunes library - any ideas - tried uninstalling Itunes and re-installing - no joy.

When you say it "won't sync," what does that mean? The iPod does not appear in iTunes? It appears in iTunes, but does not transfer new songs? Etc...
Is this a new computer with Windows 8, or the same computer upgraded to Windows 8? Is the iTunes library the same library you used before, or the same library (either on the same computer or transfered to a new computer).

5th Generation iPod won't sync with iMac iTunes 9

PLEASE help. 5th generation 8GB iPod will not sync with iTunes 9 on my iMac OSx 10.4.11. Hubby rebooted system and now I have zero songs on my iPod. I have restored iPod to factory settings and still zero songs. Itunes says sync complete everything looks good but iPod still says zero songs. Tried using new user account on iMac and going into iPod disk mode...no success. Also tried restoring playlist from PC running windows 7 still nothing. Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? If not, have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if the message keeps reappearing: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore
Towards the end it says "If after restoring your iPod, the message described above reappears, the iPod drive letter may need to be reassigned. Ipod won't sync with Itunes even after restore

Hiya,
When I plug my ipod into my computer, it recognises it's there, but it won't sync with the ipod & update the music on it.
I restored the ipod using itunes so now there's absolutely nothing on my ipod at all, but it still won't sync with itunes, so I have a completely blank ipod...
I've only had it for about 3 months so am not impressed...

My was doing the same thing. But I figured out how to fix it. My computer was not recognizing the IPOD so I had to reset the drive letter. Click on Start, then go to the Control Panel, Click on Adminstration tools, Click on Computer Management, on the left hand side of your screen pick Disk Management from the box, it will take a few seconds then it will pull up a list of all your computer drives, highlight your Ipod, then right click and change drive letter or path, I changed it to "I" for ipod. My computer then recognized my Ipod. I opened up itunes and my sync worked then.

Creative Zen V Plus won't sync with Windows Media Player 11?

My Zen V Plus won't synchronize with Windows Media Player . I plug it into the USB, then an error message pops up in WMP that says "WMP has encountered a problem and needs to close" but if I just move the window aside WMP works fine. I then click 'sync" and it says "preparing to sync" but doesnt move beyond that. I have synced with WMP before, this problem has recently started occurring. I have all the firmware updates on my player, I don't know what is causing this problem.

Gi'ven the problem you describe, it would seem your best bet at this point would be to contact Customer Support. I doubt there is much the users here could help you with given your problem. If email support hasn't answered, did you get the automated reply? If so, did you reply to it's You won't get an advisor till you reply to the automated email, otherwise it is assumed the automated system solved your problem.

What do I do if my iPod won't sync with my iTunes?

My iPod has been working perfectly fine for about a year and a half now, but when I connect it to my computer it won't sync with the iTunes program. It shows that it is connected to my computer because it's charging, but not to iTunes. I'm not sure what to do, any ideas?

Find a more powerful USB port or buy a wall-mount charger from Apple.

You need to have at least 55MB of space available to sync photos. Not sure why, could have to do with swap space.

I upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard and since then my trusty 3rd Gen Ipod will not sync with iTunes (9.0.3). It mounts in Finder, but does not appear in iTunes. The iPod will still charge, but it constantly displays the "Do Not Disconnect" message until manually ejected.
