Is alternate email address the same as a rescue email?

I was just wondering if an alternate address is the same as a rescue email because I need to reset my security questions.

Give us a rescue email address where we can send you a link to confirm your identity and let you reset your information should any security issues arise. This address is only for communicating information about your security details. We won’t send any other types of messages to this address.
Your Rescue Email cannot be the same as your alternate Apple ID.
This is confusing because I have reset information using my alternate Apple ID without a rescue email address.

Wan and lan address the same

Hello,
Just a query really,
Is it best to set my routers lan address the same as its external address when setting up with an ASA?
I have been told to do this but I would of thought keeping it a private address on the subnet would be better.

This is not possible. If you set your outside interface IP to (lets say) 1.1.1.1/30 and then try to set your inside interface to 1.1.1.1 you will get an error message stating something like it is already assigned to another interface (don't remember the exact message). So you would have to have different IP addresses for each interface on the ASA (that includes subinterfaces.
In transparent mode you can set one management interface IP that will be on the same subnet as both your inside and outside networks.

I have a main component MC and it has two used componenents - IBLC and IVAC (interfaces for model and visual compoenents).
I get the actual model component name from a table and I instantiate it as follows:
instantiate model component
DATA: l_ref_model_usage TYPE REF TO if_wd_component_usage,
l_my_initial_usage type ref to IF_WD_COMPONENT_USAGE.
L_MY_INITIAL_USAGE = wd_this->wd_cpuse_iblc( ).
l_ref_model_usage = L_MY_INITIAL_USAGE->CREATE_COMP_USAGE_OF_SAME_TYPE(
NAME = Item_Modelcomp ).
Components VC1 and VC2 etc implement IVAC.
Since I want to use the same instance of Item_Modelcomp in VC1 and VC2, I use the set_model(and from that I call method enter_referencing_mode) method as follows in MC.
l_ref_interfacecontroller->set_model( model_usage = l_ref_model_usage ).
Now in set_model method in VC1, I am using Item_Modelcomp as used component and not IBLC because I want to use the Item_Modelcomp context, but it expects IBLC as the used component(even though Item_Modelcomp implements IBLC) and hence gives the error "Referenced and Referencing Component Usages Must Address the Same Component".
Any solution for this issue?

Yeah, we though the same in the beginning. Later on we learned that:
- it's not worth having the overhead of another WD component in most cases since you need to call the business logic nonetheless
- declaring nodes as public is like having public attributes at a class - which can be really bad thing
- there are lots of side effects regarding one component affecting the other one indirectly by having both mapped to the same model component
In general, using model components should be avoided. There might be rare cases, where it makes sense to use them, but mostly it's not worth the effort.

Several tasks addressing the same DO port

Hi,
I'm building a software program based on plugins.
All these plugins interact with DIOs.
When the plugin is loaded in memory, it loads its configuration and create a task to control/read DIOs port on C-series modules (9476 and 9425) placed in a cDAQ chassis.
If the task pointing on a module is already built, plugins reuse the already created task instead of creating a new one. All DIOs tasks are not synchronized on any clock, they only return the port state when necessary (software timed).
Actions on DO are always the same : Read current DO port state, apply mask and pattern on the read value and apply new calculated state on the DO port.
According to the plugins used, it might be possible that several of them will want to access the same DO port of a module at the same time. Is there something like a round-robin mechanism which handles this kind of situation ? Or should I create a semaphore to reserve the access the DO port one plugin after the other ? If an explicit semaphore is required, can it be embedded in the DAQmx task (or specific DAQmx function) or should I use standard semaphores available in LabVIEW ?

I just use an Action Engine to control my DIO tasks. Only one system can access the non-reentrant VI at a time, so that acts as your semaphore.

After removing it as your rescue email address did you try logging out and then back into your account to see if that then allows you to use it as your main address ?

Adding alternate component in the same BOM for 2 level BOM setup

I have a BOM with the following setups -
BOM_A components are BOM_B, Comp_A1, Comp_A2
BOM_B components are Comp_B1, Comp_B2
The need is to have an a BOM with components Comp_B1, Comp_B2, Comp_C1. if I create this as an Alt of BOM_B, how can I use this alternate in BOM_A?
Can anyone please let me know if there is a way to specify the alternate of BOM components in multi level BOM?

Can you please specify the exact business requirement.
Why this is required at BOM Level?
If BOM_B (comp_B1,comp_B2 & comp_C1) is Alt. bom & WIP job completed using this Alt. BOM then syste will take care / consider valuation as per Alt. BOM for first level bom (BOM_A) WIP job.

Transferring "Previously free" apps to alternate devices using the same account

Sorry for the confusing title of this discussion. Here's my question.
Free Apps are available through iTunes of course. Unfortunately, only the record of "purchased apps" can be seen on my iPad (even though my Apple ID is required to get them). Now if I get a free App, like that App and then decide to purchase that App, yes I can do so using my Apple ID. But what about those Apps that require you to purchase additional features (the base App is free, but additional features can be purchased)? I bought a specific App on my iPad for my kids and I bought an additional feature. I just bought two iPad Minis for my kids. Now I can only transfer the one App (minus the purchased additional feature) to the iPad Minis. Do I have reinstall the free App and then purchase the additional features twice? It's an important question because most of the educational Apps sell additional features.
Any suggestions? You're assistance is appreciated.

I'm trying to download a ringtone directly from my phone, which I've done numerous times, but now I have to remember my security questions and I can't. I tried every option I can think of and for some reason they aren't working. I have an alternate email but when I've typed in the wrong answers for the security questions, there isn't an option to send my security question answers to the alternate email. Is there anything else I can do??

An alternate email address is not the same as a rescue email address. If you don't have a rescue email address set up then go to Express Lane and select 'iTunes' from the list of 'products' in the middle of the screen.
Then select 'iTunes Store', and on the next screen select 'Account Management'
Next choose 'iTunes Store Account Security' and fill in that you'd like your security questions/answers reset.
You should get an email reply within, I think, about 24 to 48 hours (and check your Spam folder as well as your Inbox)

Because an alternate email isn't the same as a rescue email. If you can't get an email sent to your rescue email address or don't have one, you need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

How do I update my e-mail address which is the same as my RESCUE e-mail address? I have moved and cancelled my old ISP and any associated e-mails with them, and moved my email address to GMAIL. It happens to be the same as my original Rescue email so I need to change the RESCUE email address and you don't give me that option on the Account/E-mail Change page, you just keep kicking me back to "Your email address can't be the same as your Rescue email address" and leave me hanging!

To change your rescue e-mail goto
My Apple Id
Then login and goto security
There should ask you for your security questions answer them and it will take you to a page where you can change them
On that page their should be an area that says "Rescue E-mail"
Click delete or change (if you click change type new rescue e-mail you want)
After that click save
Then you can change your primary e-mail.

Yes, but if you want these devices to have complete capability of calling each other they each must have their own separate, individual e mail address. If they don't have individual e mail addresses, the i phones will be able to call each other because you'll be using their individual phone numbers -- the Mac mini will be able to call the i phones, but, the iphones will not be able to call the Mac mini. This is because the iphones will be using the mini's e- mail address to make the call, and if they have the same e mail address, they will think they are calling themselves, so the call will not connect.
So, the way I see it is, if you keep all of the email addresses the same, the only thing you'll loose is the ability of the iphones to call the mini.
EDIT: Thinking about it, my first sentence needs to be modified. Your iphones can share an email address but it must be different from the Mac mini address.
This isn't rocket science, but it can make your head spin. LOL

Creating Two Different Designs for the same site

I already have a website (www.ernestbuckley) but would like to design an alternate site with the same name and from time to time, just switch between the two for variety. Can this be done? Will I lose any data when I switch back and forth?

Apnewbie's suggestion is right on track! You already have your domain name ( http://www.ernestbuckley.com ) that you forward to:
http://web.mac.com/ernestbuckley/iWeb/ernestbuckley/Welcome.html
If you made another parallel site with the different design and called it "ernest2", all you would have to do is to switch your forwarding to:
http://web.mac.com/ernestbuckley/iWeb/ernest2/
You can continue to edit both sites and when you want to switch sites, just change your forwarding again to the other address.
BTW, if you want to start another site, you might consider using a program called "iWebSites" to help you manage your sites in separate Domain files. That way you keep them completely separate from one another and maintain the ability to edit and publish them independently of one another. Here is the URL for more info...
