Is anyone else experiencing frequent blackout problems on an external monitor in Mountain Lion? I called Apple Support and got a temporary fix by removing preferences, but frequent --several second-- blackouts are back. Will an HDMI cable alleviate this?
I have been experiencing this, but with Lion, not Mountain Lion. It is driving me nuts!
I am using LG L246WP monitor via HDMI to DVI on MacPro1,1. I have tried changing cables, even tried VGA to DVI (no blackouts with VGA, but not sure I can trust that, because there is no set pattern of when it will blackout!).
I did try another monitor for most of a day - no blackouts/flickers, and as soon as I hooked up my original monitor, I got blackouts, which led me to believe it is the monitor.
I have searched and read several forums on blackouts, each with different configurations, so at this point I am not sure what it is. I even replaced my Graphics/Video card, because someone on Apple forum said most likely that was the culprit, but still having same problem (even as I type this!).
It is like something is intermittently interfering with signal???

Since I downloaded IOS8, my iphone will not sync with itunes on my MacBook, which means I'm also having difficulty doing a simple manual backup of my ios device to my MacBook. The fact that my MacBook has a 32 bit processor and runs on OS X Version 10.6.8 (as good as it gets), is, apparently, the root of the problem since I've never had this problem with previous ios versions. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem and what is Apple doing about it?
I have the same issue, except I am running an i5 iMac (64-bit) with 10.10.1 installed. I can't tell if it is an iOS issue or an iTunes 12 issue. It started happening to me when I got the iPhone 6 AND upgraded to iTunes 12. It wouldn't connect my iPhone nor my iPad 2 (running older iOS). I had to install a fresh version of iTunes and it "sort of" helped. It will see the devices now, but then it forgets and I have to reboot occasionally for them to be seen again.
This is a big problem and seems to be pretty wide spread. -
After downloading iTones 10.5.1, the artwork matchs the song that is playing on my iMac but the artwork does not sync properly on my Apple TV. The artwork lags one cover behind. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem.
I think it is just a bug, but it in very frustrating. I was using just now for about an hour and suddenly the correct artwork appeared for what was playing....but then all went wrong again!!
Apple, please, please issue a patch for this. It surely cannot be too complicated to correct. -
Since upgrading to the newest ios 6.1.2 itunes isn't showing my app list on the left side of the screen, nor does it show all of my self made movies, only the purchased ones. Anyone else experiencing a similar problem? The iTunes store and most of the other features show up but other normal features seem to be missing too. I wish I hadn't upgraded. Anyone else having this problem????
If you are talking about iTunes on your computer use the iTunes View menu item, "Show Sidebar".
If not, I have no idea what you are describing. -

I have experienced dropped calls since I upgraded my IOS a few weeks ago. Anyone else having the same problem? AT&T blames Apple, Apple blames AT&T, I'm stuck in the middle.

I had a dropped call not long ago and it wasn't due to my iPhone or ATT. A friend with Sprint tried to call me while driving through a known low reception area with Sprint. Sprint dropped the call. -
Has anyone else experienced this same problem?
Whenever I press the menu, forward, back, play and pause buttons my ipod does what the middle button is supposed to do. When I press Menu it won't take me to the menu. When I press play or pause it won't play or pause. When I press forward or back it won't go to the previous song or the next song. All it does is do the thing where you can skip through the song or it comes up with the rate stars. I don't know what caused it. I was just listening to a song one day, pressed forward, it didn't go to the next song, had a look at the screen and thats when it started doing this. I need to know if anyone else has experienced this problem and how to fix it because its really annoying me. Thank you
First step is to do a reset on the iPod.
I am not sure if this is the same for the Mini, but for later iPods... Slide the hold switch from OFF to ON back to OFF then immediately hold down BOTH the center and Menu buttons for a good 15-30 seconds or until it restarts with the Apple logo.
Resetting isn't always effective once and you may need to retry it several times to get it to work.
If you reset and you still have an issue, you may want to next attempt a Restore of the iPod.

Since upgrading to Lion OS X, I have not been able to print any of my documents that were created in Adobe PDF. All calls to customer support have been a bust.
When I try to print anything it comes out looking like this:

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, selectHelp from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.) Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

Did all of that yesterday, with the Apple Representative on the phone, and nope, still a problem...it was kind of exciting, really, they kept going up and up the tiers of support until I got disconnected...Fortunately I had the email address of the gentleman who was helping me so that I could email him back and let him know that we got disconnected...as you might imagine, he still has not emailed me back. They were able to receive a copy of the form that I use for charting and try it in their facility on their computers, so we know:
1- it is not just my computer.
2- it occurred only after installing Lion OS X, not sure if they have tried it on Snow Leopard, but that's what I would have done if I was them...assuming that somewhere in Apple someone has not upgraded to Lion.
3- it is not just my software.
I think the problem is with the newer iteration of Preview not communicating well with the Adobe .pdf. probably some line of coding that needs to be written and insertedinto their program for multiline text.

I am getting persistent "iPhoto unexpectedly quit" since last weeks upgrade to Lion 10.7.3?
It is usually preceded by a warning that the library is corrupted and needs to be repaired. I can still see the supposedly bad photos in Aperture without problems. I believe there is a serios bug in iPhoto.
One other clue here is that I attempted to download a new slideshow to my MobileMe Gallery immediately after the upgrade but even though it is still a valid Share option it did not work. After that with a brief exception I got the unexpected quits referrred to above.Have you previously marked Commodo's certificates as untrusted? The following discussion

Has anyone experienced lagging when typing on the mac since the mountain lion os x update?
hey everyone,
i'm a newbie to this kind of stuff but just curious if anyone has experienced any kind of lag when typing since the mountain lion update. I find then whenever i'm typing it doesn't show up and as soon as i start deleting my sentence it will appear again.
also, when scrolling over a highlighted word, your typical menu box will drop down. As soon as it drops down it leaves a big white blank where it was and cuts out everything that was in its path.
please let me know if this is something that can be fixed or if apple's working on something to amend the issue. thanks everyone!Not yet.

I frequently have to remove and re-insert the SIM card in order to access the internet. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a problem with the IPAD2 or with the SIM card?
Could be the SIM card, the iPad, or both.

FCPX 10.0.8 is frequently crashing, refusing to share even in prores hq - it aborts. This has all happened since after the most recent update. Has anyone else experienced an abundance of problems since the update and what have any of the solutions been?
There are many people who have posted about persistent export failures since the update. A search will uncover a number of threads just within the past month. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to these problems – and if there is common fix, I haven't heard about it.
However, the update hasn't been a problem for me – nor presumably has it been for the majority of users.

Have been using Lightroom on my Apple computer for years. Now, ever since upgrading to Apple's Yosemite operating system I get an error message (150:30) every time I try to open a lightroom file. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Also how do I subscribe to Adobe's Premium Support? Every time I've tried (through contact support) I just get taken on an unending loop.

Exactly what files are you trying to open?
Exactly how are you trying to open them (what menu command or button or mouse action or keyboard shortcut)?

The XCarlink iPhone/iPod accessory for Mazda Bose autochangers is functioning differently after iOS 5.1. The Shuffle function no longer works and it plays Albums or Genius Playlisys only (not self-made playlists). Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Previously, the iPod function enabled one to see the track that was playing and control playback (such as repeat or shuffle) via the iPhone screen. Now all I see is an "Accessory Connected" message.Somewhere in there, is there a question for us, your fellow users in these user to user support forums?

Photoshop CS4 Freezes when opening PDFs
When I drag two, 2-page PDFs onto Photoshop CS4 to open them, PS opens one page of one PDF and then freezes. I can replicate this every time I try. Once PS freezes it takes a little patience to get it to force quit. Any advice?
